I had a good night's sleep. This is very rare for me, and the effects are startling. I woke, and without any discernable effort fixed the boiler. Then had toast. It's as if all that stands between me and godhood is two hours rest.

Shryke is ladies man.

And a boys man from what I heard.

Keep sowing those wild oats like a good lil doggie. *Pats doggie on the head.*

Lucky for him, you're a dog lover DR.

It's time to get your doggie ready for on-leash training.

Don't forget your poop scoop.

I prefer cats over smelly dogs.

What I do today? Watch Michigan lose to Penn State. Boo!

Cats are superior beings :)

You remember that movie Honey I Shrunk the Kids?

Well, if that happened to you, your feline "friend" would turn on you like the scorpion, and rip you up the shreds first after having maimed you, and then toying with you as your life expires.

Our loyal canines, however, would defend us to the death. Just like Anty. Oh Anty, how we miss thee... :(

Today I woke up still slightly drunk and with essentially no skin left on my torso after the shenanigans of last night, and thus spent the day recovering by eating chicken and watching random movies with a couple of friends.

Those are the good times people. Though I do seem to have spent all of my money without realising, hate it when that happens :o

Just because you're a bit thinner than your even fatter mum it doesn't mean you're in excellent physical shape, if you could fit through the door and view the normal people you'd notice that cheeseburger boy. Squid suck.

I was out walking my sister's dog when it took off into the bushes. Then it made a loud yelp and darted off tail between the legs. It seems it had stumbled upon a mother cat with its litter. The cat was tiny compared to my sis' dog but man was it pissed. Good thing my sis' dog is a coward, makes encounters with other dogs so much easier as well.

Started the war against weeds in my drive way and my garden today. Fritz Haber would have been proud of my approach. All is fair in love and war against weeds.

uh, roundup... ain't nothing that kills weeds better. i see from a later post that you did resort to chemical warfare. indeed, it is the only way.

my cat would gladly tear your eyes out. he's not the friendly sort in spite of pretending to be when he wants something. most petting efforts turn into bleeding wounds for me. of course, once he decides i should stop, i intentionally keep going to egg the fat bastard on. damned cat simply can't fight without his claws and mitch won't let me get him declawed (he is 13 now, but he was only 2 when i first met him and made the initial request).

this will be our last cat. dogs from here on out.

walsh, i'm jealous.

Yup, that was exactly what I bought. That, and a spray apparatus for convenient distribution. Just remember to let out the compressed air before refilling

I think you just described one of those things I like about cats, their sometimes spirited personality (annoying bastards) and their independence (feed me!) :)

I believe so yes, unless an angry cat attacked me when I was drunk and the series of events I thought happened were actually a figment of my imagination of course.

gotta be careful with that stuff, however. it's not good for humans, either.

most people that meet my cat refer to him as psychotic. he'll hiss at you as he rubs up against your leg demanding attention. when he gets worked up he starts swatting at your feet as you walk by (sometimes from up on a chair... bad news during shorts season).

Fire works and it's so much more fun! :shifty:

fire only kills the part that's above ground. the roots will live on, regroup and sprout anew. roundup whacks the entire plant. but yeah, fire would be more fun.

Life is moderately good for the time being.

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

I mostly am stressed out. Makes for unhappiness. Without music, I couldn't stand the current situation. How fortunate that no other drugs are required for me :ermm: Ah well, better times will come.

I have switched jobs, and company, from a mere codemonkey to a "specialist/consultant", for a Software that i have never heard about before. But from what i recall, it is quite extensive (ranging from SAP solutions to Autocad engineering tool and other business processing blabla). It is way better paid than my last job, and it has better benefits as well.

The thing is, my "mentor" or so to speak, have been trying to learn this for the last 3,5 years, and they expect me to get to his level within 6 months. And of course, they expect me to do managerial tasks when deemed necessary or became a temporary project manager when needed.

I have little idea of what i am doing, but i guess this is a necessary step to climb the corporate ladder, or forever be in the same position as Peter Gibbons in 'Office Space'.

I assembled a bookcase today. The materials seem to be well made, and I don't believe I skipped any steps, so I believe that it should be able to fulfill its purpose.

i gave up trying to climb the corporate ladder years ago. i make more money simply working for myself (at least, not attempting to wow the bosses), and doing good work. i'm now down to a 5-man company, which is already beginning to make me feel cramped. contracting and consulting are the only way to go. sigh...

Consulting sounds great until you realise you have to be your own marketing. Which makes you into a man whore.

I thought of the idea. I mean those consultants that are specializing in sunssystems demand up to 3000

not at all. contract work simply requires hooking up with a firm that does it for you, pure consulting requires establishing a name for yourself (which means having some pretty mad skillz). contract work won't pay as much*, but you don't necessarily need as much experience or talent. contract work tends to be more job/project oriented, e.g., a company will have a short-term need to develop some custom drivers for some off-the-shelf product they've purchased. consultant work tends to be more of the advisory sort but the pay is ridiculous.

the key that i was getting at wasn't so much either of these, however. i just loathe the "corporate ladder" idea of a career. personally, i don't want to "move up" other than simple promotions that recognize my technical ability (which likewise increases my potential pay). granted, it is difficult be a lowly individual contributor all your career without suffering from boredom, so some increased responsibility is expected as you gain experience (like being a project lead that covers more than one technical area, perhaps even over some areas that are outside of your specialty). but it is possible to "move up" without really fighting through the corporate jungle. small companies are probably the best way to do this, but there is some increased risk and often the immediate rewards are not as great (i make less money and have worse benefits than i could get elsewhere, for example, but the tradeoff might be worth it if i can make something out of my product line).

it just seemed that meshugger made the statement almost with a sense of doom, as if it was "sigh... this is what i have to look forward to." i hate to see that. i don't think it needs to be that way.

*my top contractor makes $145/hour. his job is somewhat of a niche, and he's good at it, so he's on the high side, but $100-$125/hour is not uncommon for good engineers.
