August 13, 200817 yr I am sure that I'm not alone in thinking that a co-op campaign is something gamers look for in todays busy, competitive market. With the recent abysmal failure of <Another Sci-Fi Action/RPG>, which came out today - I am left wondering what's so difficult about making a Sci-Fi RPG with a solid multiplayer campaign? To put things simply, this niche does not exist, there's barely any good Sci-Fi RPG's to begin with, and I cannot think of a single one with mutliplayer co-op! Hellgate London (although an MMO) tried valiantly, and ultimately failed to deliver. Blizzard have obviously passed on the idea of making Diablo clone in the Starcraft universe (or a WoW clone in the Starcraft Universe) - so here's our chance, to convince Obsidian that we want, that we NEED, a solid co-op gameplay mode that features a rich campaign. You know, like Neverwinter Nights 2. Discuss.
August 13, 200817 yr Depending on **** and things a co-op (that quasi-word is like the taste of pennies to think about) game might be feasible in the BG2 sort of way. We still don't know what the party dynamic is going to be like. But I wouldn't hold my breath for a separate multiplayer experience. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!

August 14, 200817 yr I don,t want co-op, I just want a good single player experience and a solid multiplayer. We will survive Galm 1.
August 14, 200817 yr Aliens would make a nice CO-OP game, but either LAN or online, no split screen. And for God's sake, don't make one of us use an XBOX controller like in Kane and Lynch. Great CO-OP potential, suckball realization. CO-OP play worked well for Baldur's Gate and especially for Icewind Dale, since the party members had no dialogs it was better to play with a buddy, sp why not Alien too?
August 14, 200817 yr I never played Baldur's Gate with a buddy. Is it good? "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.

We are going to have co-op play in the FPS. This game will rock if it,s something like..., I alone vs the aliens... I AND THE ALIENS, hahah We will survive Galm 1.
August 14, 200817 yr I don't have a problem with co-op. I personally won't make use of it, but if it enhances the game for others, that's great. I hope you get what you want. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
August 14, 200817 yr I never played Baldur's Gate with a buddy. Is it good? Well, you know, she/he takes up a space and you get to miss out on the dialogs a little but it helps around in battle, especially if she/he is a cleric or a mage and really good at using the perspective class' abilities. It's a lot more fun on IWD though.
August 14, 200817 yr Co-ops is for retarted idiots thinking lololol gaming with frienz on couch is best thing ever ...or then I'm just ronery ;_; How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
August 14, 200817 yr Co-ops is for retarted idiots thinking lololol gaming with frienz on couch is best thing everlololol... but it is. The best things in life are co-op. That said... Colonial Marines already features co-op prominently, and I'm not sure how well this game would lend itself to it if at all. So I can live without co-op here (but just barely). August 14, 200817 yr I know the Aliens RPG is an RPG, but my friends and I played through Halo3 many times over, Rainbow Six 3 (terrorist hunt) and Vegas in coop as well many times over and had lots of fun. I'd LOVE to see more COOP in games, and more than just the usual Army of Two, Gears of War, or Halo linear coop storyline mode. Playing an RPG in single-player is great, but it has never had the appeal of the good old pen and paper games I played with my friends. Adding a friend to the mix (especially with coms so you can strategize and chat) just adds a whole extra element of fun to the game experience. I guess if a person has no friends who are interested in the same games (or just has 0 friends...) I can understand why someone wouldn't care much about coop. In my experience though, it has made games 10x more entertaining and caused me to be a repeat buyer of games from companies who've made them. I played a little bit of Baldur's Gate II with a friend, but didn't have enough time to run through the full game in coop.
August 15, 200817 yr I played a little bit of Baldur's Gate II with a friend, but didn't have enough time to run through the full game in coop. It's possible that some kinds of games and gaming experiences don't lend themselves as well to co-op as others. If you happen really to like those kinds of game, the popularity of co-op can seem something of a threat. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
August 15, 200817 yr There's already a 4 multiplayer co-op for the Aliens FPS as an action game. I prefer Obsidian to focus more on the single player, gameplay mechanics aspects and game engine refinement first since its far more complex than an action game. The multiplayer aspect can be considered again in the game's expansion or sequel.
August 20, 200817 yr Just once I'd like to see a cooperative multiplayer RPG. An RPG that doesn't just have multiplayer tacked on as an appendage, but pulsing through every vein. It felt like we were getting close to that step before the MMO genre became a massive success. I hope the dream is still alive in some developer's mind, somewhere.

Keep hoping Valve's Left 4 Dead will be a ridiculous success. When that happends, Obsidian will be given a hefty weight as an excuse to the publishers to go one step further in creating or exapanding an existing game license into a cooperative multiplayer RPG.

I still roleplayed the character when I was playing with a friend of mine, and it was a blast.

When that happends, Obsidian will be given a hefty weight as an excuse to the publishers to go one step further in creating or exapanding an existing game license into a cooperative multiplayer RPG. I think it's very important to note that L4D will feature zero cutscenes and has a fixed number of characters that are effectively always present and never interchangeable in their levels. That is, multiplayer is the entire focus of their game. twitter tyme
September 15, 200817 yr I have a friend moving in as a lodger soon (next week) I will see if we can play coop Baldur's Gate. "It wasn't lies. September 18, 200817 yr I would hope multiplayer is incorporated. I played NWN2, and I didn't really enjoy the OC until I also played the OC with my girlfriend. Sometimes a gaming experience can be made more enjoyable depending on who you are playing with.
