I'm pretty sure that they've said that we should keep our savefiles because decisions in ME1 will have effects in ME2 or something like that.

Edit: Wikipedia seems to agree:

Casey Hudson, Project Director for BioWare, has said that players should keep their Mass Effect save-files, because decisions made by the player in the first game will continue to have influences on their character in the sequel. Players who have not played the first Mass Effect will start a new character in Mass Effect 2, and will be brought up to speed on the story elements that have taken place thus far in the series. [2] It has been confirmed that the same team that worked on Mass Effect will be working on Mass Effect 2.

Yes, that is true. So I'll have a save file of a very renegade character, and a save file of a very paragon character.

Did you figure out what your problem was, BD? I got the same error but once I put the launcher in Admin mode it worked.

I wouldn't be surprised if you would need all three Mass Effects for it to become BG1 in length. So yeah.

Vista?

First rule of Vista is to always run everything in admin mode. There is no reason not to.

True enough.

I could just imagine BG down in ME's game engine. That would be so cool.

i still like dialogue trees better, i can't imagine how BG would be handled with this kind of...'conversation style'

I won't be buying it any time soon, because I don't feel like playing it any time soon. But I will be buying it eventually...I'd like to see what all the hoopla is about.

A post from over there, albeit in its unedited form (the moderators evidently thought the last part was too strong for their forum):

Evidently they, Biowire, are going to redistribute activations on a quote "case by case basis," so I would keep everything in a mint, untouched condition - including the game itself. As a long-time Bioware customer I was planing to buy Mass Effect the moment it was released in stores, however the draconian "digital rights management scam -opps, I mean scheme-" has forced me to change that position. Too bad BioWare, you really f***ed up this time.

As it stands it's nearly a megabyte in size. If you put the entire sequence in, most people would change pages before the image finished loading.

I wouldn't

ah, btw, Pop, I didn't know you are from cuba :)

holy crap! That thread is 75 pages long O_O

and while the developers stated it will be left open for complains, it was still locked...their fault now that the topic of every other thread is derailed into a discussion about this :ermm:

I just wanted to announce that BioWare and EA's copy protection scheme has ALREADY failed. A fully-functional, cracked, pirated release has been in circulation for several hours already.

Way to go EA, you spend tons of cash on a DRM that does nothing except harass your own customers.

Hum.... The question is, should I buy a copy and not install it so I can use the pirated copy legally. I'll probably wait and see if BioWare releases a DRM-light version, although that will mean no Mass Effect until then. :(

well, you can register a bought game, and use a ...'bugger free' version of the game, that way you should be able to use it just like the other game (if it is not changing the checksum ofc)
