In Padre news SS Jeff Spicoli (Khalil Greene) could miss the rest of the season after breaking his hand hitting something (not a baseball of course)

 

 

SAN DIEGO -- Shortstop Khalil Greene could be sidelined the rest of the regular season after fracturing the fifth metacarpal bone on his left hand on Wednesday.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Greene suffered the injury during a 7-3 loss to the Diamondbacks when he hit or punched a storage chest outside the home dugout during the game.

 

Greene apparently suffered the fracture in the seventh inning when he struck out for the 100th time this season.

I still can't get over the Manny trade. I guess he needed to be dealt after all the stuff that he's come out and said. Great hitter though, the sox will miss him, but Jason Bay ain't too shaby himself.

"Major League Baseball has signed an agreement with the World Umpires Association, approving the implementation of instant replay for disputed home run calls sometime before the end of the season, one of MLB's top officials told MLB.com on Wednesday.

"We're not there yet," said Rich Levin, MLB's senior vice president of public relations, "but this is another significant step."

 

All 30 Major League ballparks are being wired with monitors so umpires on location can view replays of questionable home run calls -- fair or foul, in the park or out. I don't fear the AL representative too much. Definiotely beatable. People keep saying the AL is too powerful for the NL, and the NL has no chance in the WS yet 2 years ago, STL DESTROYED Detroit.

 

That said, it won't be no easy task for the Mets to get past the NL in the playoffs (if they make it).

For all baseball fans out there, the last game ever in Yankees Stadium will be on ESPN Sunday night at 8 pm EST. Supposedly there will be flashbacks all throughout the game and a ceremony following. That is a real piece of Americana that will fade into history Sunday night. You might not want to miss that one. I'll be watching.
