You know what would be totally awesome? If I could team up with a Predator and a Terminator and Robocop. And possibly also Zool, Ninja from the Nth Dimension. Sure, it's not everyones cup of tea but you don't need to make Zool the focus of the game or anything. I think it's rad and I'm sure there are dozens more like me. Please set about getting the appropriate IP please Obs/Sega. Thanks.

I only will go for this idea if Ash, from the Army of Darkness, gets to fight all of them at once.

Thanks for reminding me! I need to see if there's an Army of Darkness/Marvel Zombies TPB.

Crossovers only work in those rare instances where the two franchises actually fit one another reasonably well.

I think it'd be terrible if Wolverine ever crossed over from Hulk into the X-Men. And if Batman and Superman ever met? DC Comics would be finished!

That's a good one!

The result would be the Bear Alien! :ermm:

Okay we got Alien, Predator, Terminator, Robocop, possibly Zool and Ash from Army of Darkness. Oh and Batman.

Anybody want anything else? I'd love to see the Aliens fight the Thing from Another World personally (either one).

Ooo, the Thing vs Podpeople from Invasion of the Bodysnatchers!

Maybe we can get Ash, Batman, MacReady, Robocop, T-2000, Dr. Miles Bennell and Zool form a 6 person adventuring party to face Thinged Aliens and PodPredators?

With a guest appearance from the Blob, absorbing the Care Bears!

No wait, scratch that last one, that'd be silly...

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Possibly Zool? POSSIBLY!?! Madness.

An Alien RPG without Zool is an Alien RPG in name only.

Okay, you convinced me.

Amend my statement from "possibly Zool" to "probably Zool"

Not to be confused with Zuul, the Gatekeeper from Ghostbusters.

Where do you guys even come up with franchises like that?

Childhood.

An attempt to bring a Sonic/Mario like platforming Mascot to the Amiga, as I recall...

Sponsered by that sweet company, which made it pretty trippy, frankly.

I don't honestly believe the reception of AvP films has a lot of effect on how people view the video games. People seem to be pretty excited about Gearbox's A:CM.

Weren't the two first AvP movies somewhere between mediocre and bad already? Not really a surprise if AvP 3 isn't exactly front page news :wowey:

I'm just wary of the overall reaction to a game connected (albeit tenuously) to a franchise that's suffering a very public and ignoble crisis. You can never tell with these things. Obsidian taking on Aliens is sort of like Bioware taking on Sonic - there's greatness in these properties, but there's even more crushing disappointment. I don't doubt that Obsid can manage to make a good game, but I'd like to think they wouldn't be required to live down the fact that the Aliens franchise has joined the ranks of Saw in the "annual cash grab" pantheon of horror films.

Yeah, well AvP2 was IMO the worst film I saw last year.

Hasn't diminished my interest in a well made Alien game anymore than Uwe Boll films made me hate video games in general...

You are probably right.

In any case, I am looking forward to seeing how Obsidian solves the potential problem with the lack of enemy diversity in a CRPG, that is likely to involve significant amounts of combat as most CRPGs tend to. Any thoughts on adding new species or on increasing the diversity of alien types?

Well, there's nothing stopping them from introducing a slew of aliens that aren't Aliens. It's fairly explicit in the films that Aliens aren't the only alien lifeforms around that humans might feel inclined to kill on a regular basis. There's also the thing about Aliens taking on aspects of the host critter, for example, the dog Alien in A3 is a hell of a lot more intelligent than every last Alien, queen included, in A2. That further opens up for the possibility that Colonists are so incredibly stupid that they may need to be killed on a regular basis, and that dogs are so incredibly smart that there could be a hostile dog secessionist organisation in the game, which might decide to try assassinate the player on a regular basis, because what better way to do away with stupid colonists than to let Aliens eat them? After all, it's a lot easier to kill unarmed & suicidally stupid Aliens than it is to kill suicidally stupid, but armed, Colonists...

Uhm.. I guess what I'm getting at, is that it might be worth considering using one of the greatest horror settings to make a horror game, rather than just another forgettable slasher, whose only strong point is an above average monster design. Going that route opens up for the possibility of actual roleplaying, with characters that actually have character. It justifies making it a realtime game, which I assume Obs is obliged to do, because if fights are extremely rare & always unexpected, the fact that realtime FPS combat practically blinds the player & only allows the player to perform the simplest of actions, will only serve to increase the terror of facing an Alien Surprise!

Also, dear Obs devs, please listen to me. I really know what I'm talking about here, having never even thought about designing a game myself :)

I never really got this topic. There
