Aliens in a non futuristic setting can't do anything but suck. However, I will still watch it at theatres and buy the special edition DVD.

GOD, I hope Obsidian's RPG game is BASED on the setting of the "Aliens" movie, not some present age!

A proper setting for the game would be Medieval Europe. Aliens versus a team of knights and monks.

Don't forget turn-based combat.

 

AvP is the very definition of 12-year old boy corporate synergy. Take a first-tier sci-fi monster, a third-tier action monster, and have them fight for no real or good reason. It's like very expensive pro wrestling, and every man, woman, and child with more hormones than brains is going to want a piece of it.

The first Predator movie was as much action as Aliens. That's not to say it wasn't action, they were both heavily action movies, but lets not delude ourselves into thinking that there's a massive difference between the genres the two creatures have appeared in.

I think someone should film that classic game Duck Hunt. Surely that would have all the same thrilling sense of the chase.

A proper setting for the game would be Medieval Europe. Aliens versus a team of knights and monks.

I think Sparta would give them a good battle, too.

Agreed. If you read the DH comics of AVP, they're pretty violent. It's too bad AVP1 didn't follow them, though I do have hope AVP2, which reminds me a lot more of Predator 2(More gory than the original, but still has a pretty good story) than the original.

 

Atleast they got Paul Anderson off of the AVP franchise. He made the those two Preds(Chopper and Celtic) go out like chumps in the first one, which shouldn't even be remotely possible, considering the Colonial Marines took out most of a nest of them on their own and their weapons appeared significantly weaker than any of the Predators aswell as they're strength and endurance. That and considering that that one Pred in P2 took about 5 close-range shots from a 55. caliber shot gun and had his hand cut off and was walking around like nothing happened, those Preds in AVP1 should've been able to take out that whole Xenomorph nest pretty easily.

 

Hopefully AVP2 will improve upon the original A LOT.

Supposedly the preds in AvP 1 were young preds in training. Still not a great excuse but it was Paul Anderson's.

 

In AvP 2, there is supposed to only be one pred, an experienced bad ass like the pred from Predator 1 & 2. I feel like I'm the only one who is mildly excited about AvP 2. From the trailer it looks like they are going to have some of the isolation horror Alien, Alien 3 and Predator for the first part of the movie (civilians trying to stay alive in the woods and cut off small town) combined with the action of Pred 2, Aliens & Alien Resurrection for the second half of the movie (All out predator vs. aliens, military involvement etc).

 

If nothing else, AvP 2 looks like it might be fun summer popcorn flick. I doubt it will come close to touching Alien, Aliens, or Predator but I don't think it will be a Alien Resurrection, AvP or Alien 3 stinkfest.

I hate hate hate hate the entire AvP story (actually I liked the first 1/2 hour of the movie). However as someone has already stated, Obsidian only have license to the Alien world.. not Predator. Thank gawd. <3

I liked the very first Aliens vs Predator comic book story a lot. Those preds were also young ones in training, but they took out a lot of aliens while falling to their superior numbers. I also think the whole thing would work better in Aliens future setting. Anyways, I hope AvP 2 will be an entertaining movie. It'd be hard to be worse than AvP 1.

Either this pred doesn't follow the 'rulebook', or some of the teens have chestbursters in them.

An alternative is that the directors of this movie are hacks who've only worked on music videos before.

 

Though your theory is equally plausible at this stage.
