In my country, homosexuality is a not a crime when it occurs in private and between consenting adults. In 2003 legislation was proposed by the Justice Ministry to amend the criminal code so was to criminalize heterosexual and homosexual sodomy with up to twelve years in prison. The proposed legislation would also criminalize cohabitation, adultery and the practice of witchcraft. The government has allowed local governments to adopt Islamic law and thus certain local ordinances have been adopted that prohibit homosexuality and cross-dressing. The law also does not recognize gay marriage, civil unions or domestic partnership benefits.

The UK can be very strange. In many areas, and certainly where the law is concerned being gay is A-OK. However, in less 'enlightened' circles, such as housing estates, the Armed Forces, public schools, etc it's still taboo, and used as an excuse to get violent.

Some of you may recall a few years ago my complaining about gay showboating. You know, why get so ggressively in my face about it? Why can't all gays be normal. but then after a bit of discussion I realised I was being daft. Coming out of the closet requires a lot of guts, and having done it there is a tendency to revel in the freedom. It's like when you first openly admit that you quite enjoy watching ST Voyager. The next thing you know you're dressing up as Mal from Firefly.

Sounds pretty horrible.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

Speaking of Civil Rights Issues Brown Vs Board of Education was overturned recently.

We are going OT a little here.... but, what do you mean there?

Clicky!!!

Ok one last OT post. This article you linked was an opinion piece that, irritatingly, did not cite the cases it was complaining about. But a quick Lexis Nexus search as solved that. So after a lot of reading (you've given me a real homework assignment here Teeth  ) I think I've got a pretty good grip on the subject. And I think it's worthy of it's own thread, which I'll put up when I get back tonight. But this is an pretty interesting topic, thanks for bringing it up. For the record, after reading 4 of the opinions, I find I'm in agreement with Kennedy for a change.

Sounds like Indonesia is desperate to be all cool and swim against the current of popular western culture. Soon you'll all be dying your hair and wearing dark makeup, while writing ridiculous poetry and murmuring about "conformists".

I am quite certain that I must have known far more gay people than I think, simply because so few were able to come out when I was younger. This also had a negative impact on my attitudes for a long while since I had no way of knowing gay people are just people like anyone else at the level of the foundations.

What exactly is the difference between gay gaming and regular gaming?

Yeah I think that was a stupid idea to begin with. You are just facilitating the fact that you are different and making yourself a target. I already made a troll post in this thread but I don't know one person is gay. Someone made a post earlier that I think really sums up how the majority of people feel unless they are fundy/red necks. I really don't care what they do as long as it doesn't hurt anyone or if they go around exposing personal stuff. Like when they do parades and they they have dudes being walked like a dog in leather, I mean that kind of thing isn't necessary. Those are the kind of people that ruin it for everyone else.

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

Yes, because the rest of the gaming world is so gay friendly, why could they possibly need their own website?

Oh wait, the rest of the gaming world is filled with homophobic prepubescent teenage boys who think the internet is a place where they can be total dillholes with anonimity.

LMAO. Good point, man. I also think maybe it would be good to have the gay gamers do a _little_ ass-kicking in arena games.

I have a few gay friends. I didn't even know they were gay until they told me, so it really isn't a big deal.

Maybe the fact that one of them was the president of a gay club in town would have given me a hint, but nooo. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed.

You're right, it WAS a special mod, and the game was Planescape Torment.
