I can not take a list seriously that has E.T. in the first spot (unless it is subject to ridicule somehow) :sorcerer:

I liked most of the movies on the list. I never saw ET. I didn't see Host either. I loved Eternal Sunshine, and that was going in thinking I wouldn't. I thought it was a comedy at first.

I havent seen Eternal Sunshine, but I did see E.T., in the cinema no less (the one and only time I saw it). It's not 35 positions better than Bladerunner *whine*

I was just going to make huge bitching topic in WoT about that list. I mean, E.T as number one what the ****? Oh, and Minority Report rated higher than ESB? Geez

How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them.

Minority Report was suprisingly decent actually.

I must admit that of the first 6 movies in the counter, I've seen only 2.

Yeah, decent.

Blade Runner wasn't there

Oh well, we all know scifi movies sucks when compared to books. Still, that's one ****ed up list.

I mean, no Space Odyssey or any Tarkovsky's films in Top Ten (Stalker, Solyaris, I guess both of them didn't have enough votes)... Bah

Isn't Rotten Tomatoes an aggregate of masses of other review sites? It can't be totally wrong.

I think there's a massive amount of votes from IMBD and that site's highly rated films are questionable at best.

*fondly remembers Godfather 3 and Return of the King in top 10*

Rottentomatoes has never taken IMDB into account as far as I've ever seen. Blade Runner was in the top 100.

I thought Minority Report was absolute crap.

"Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

This list is just based on reviewers' scores. They didn't make any decisions on the value of the movies, they just did the math. And ET is a damn good movie, anyway.

I also thought that Minority was crap.

Does anybody who remembers Blade Runner fondly do so as a result of viewing the movie pre-DVD release? That's when Ridley Scott's directors cut came out, which is the good version. The theatrical version was really, really ****ty in comparison.

But yeah, you can all get worked over this but it's not claiming to be anything other than the 100 best reviewed sci-fi movies, which is pretty difficult to argue against assuming RT has all the review data it needs at its disposal.

The only difference with the cinematic release of Blade Runner was that it explained everything, via Harrison Ford's voice-over, for the cheap seats. The voice-over was pretty well done, though, even if the plot didn't include the final twist. It's certainly not a bad film, it's just that the Director's Cut is so much better.

As for Minority Report, it was a great idea that was drowned under the weight of Cruise's ego.

Ridley Scott is supposedly doing the 'final cut', which would be cut number 2 or 4 I can't remember. The original DVD release was re done, then there was directors cut and here we go again.

Way to get people to buy the same movie 3 times.

A mate and I used to memorise the entire dialouge and use it in conversations, yes i'm a nerd. I still find myself going 'I don't get it Tyrell, why do they risk comming back to earth' as a comment on something hard to comprehend. I must have seen that movie a hundred times.

I watched the Director's re-created version the other day ... same stuff, just with extra CGI.

Spaceballs is a classic.

I wouldn't want it with CGI. The messy animations were part of it's charm. Also the classic line ever:

"My god... what happened here?"

Abused this line on so many inappropriate occasions.

Don't knock it 'til you try it! (I don't think there was much extra footage, and I don't recall much added, except a bit at the beginning when the spaceship arrives and in the middle when Kurt and Co go into the big ship under the ice.)
