Spider
I don't understand all these "harder" mods! Some of the bosses were hard enough already. Most specifically the end bosses. And by "hard enough already" I mean absolutely ridiculous for a guy who plays a thief and builds his party using characters he likes and not some requisite need for two fighters, two mages, two priests and **** the thieves or whatnot. Actually I'm not sure standard fighters and priests will cut it in regards to some of those mods. Or they probably will, since the mods can be played with only companions and a main character, but they are more designed for extremly powergamed parties. At least if you want to avoid constant reloading. And with extremely powergamed I mean characters with fairly min maxed stats and who abuses the different aspects of dual and multiclassing to the fullest. Especially dualclassing. For instance, I have a BG2 game going on my laptop that I play every now and then. That party consists of one Berserker that dualed to Druid at level 9, two Kensais that will dual to mage and rogue respectively at level 12, and a sorcerer. They will pick up a decent cleric and one other character I haven't decided upon yet. Tactics and Ascension will still be challenging, but fun as well. Taking the same party through vanilla BG2 would be so easy that it'd almost be pointless. I wouldn't play BG2 without Tactics, but to each their own. Oh, some of them were crazy, they were. Can't remember if it was tactics or Improved Battles version, but there was one modded incarnation of Tor'Gal (the Troll boss below De'Arnise Keep) that was.. uh, impossible to kill for my party. I'd debuff him as much as I could, then set up a little round-robin of everyone whacking him with magical weapons and healing each other, but he was like a freaking werewolf on crack - healed something like 5-10hp / round and I actually fought him for over 10 minutes and ended up with no potions left and him still at Uninjured. I think that's Tactics. Although I think both mods modify that fight so it could be Battles as well. My personal unbeatable fight in Tactics is improved Faldorn in the Druid Cove. She is extremely powerful and no character I have can beat her one on one without gear. Hell, I'm not even sure they'd be able to beat her with gear. Dark_Raven
A must have are mods that fix bugs that the patches hadn't and Unfinished Business. Unfinished Business puts in content that was cut from the game. Pretty neat. There are various npc and quests mods out there, just search the sites and go with what you think you may like. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

Guard Dog
I should try BG1 again. I'm dying to play through as a Chaotic Neutral Wild Mage. I've seen romance mods for good and evil, but what about the insane neutral?! That would be easy for YOU to role play! Tale
If you play as a male PC I'd reccomend the Saeralith mod. In a new romancable NPC that was really well done. Link below... Saeralith It should be noted that she's good-aligned and apparently ONLY 15! Some sickos in the modding community. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater." I was looking to add NPC mods to my BG2 game but the whole 15-year old romance thing threw me off as well. But since I've worn BG2 down to the bone now I suppose I'll give it a try if it's really that good. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality! Tigranes
If I could meet someone like Saerileth in real life, I'd be the happiest man on earth . . . . I had . . . decided to go face Bodhi . . . . I expected the usual routine: abduction, discover undead lover, kill undead lover, take corpse to Amaunator statue, etc. However, I was taken completely by surprise by your original approach to this situation. It was a very fun experience, and took advantage of Saerileth's station and background quite well. Well done! As usual, setting the example for others to follow, if they don't want to look like last week's leftovers.--Wistrik Yeah. Wistrik
Wow, I wrote that a long time ago. :blush10: Saerileth is still my favorite NPC mod written by someone else. Yasraena has also earned a place in my game. I still like Tashia as a character, but her writing and implementation need reworked. There've been no male NPCs that have interested me more than Bioware's. I only install NPC mods (and only a few) because I've written my own versions of most other mods, but NPCs give me a chance to experience someone else's characters and words. I don't use mods like Tactics because, while I love improved AI, I don't like adding combat for the sake of showing it off. I even remove combat if I feel it is unnecessary; there are other ways to provide experience to a player besides throwing yet another horde of enemies at them. BGTutu is an interesting project, but isn't complete enough by my standards. For one example, one of the things I enjoy is the movie projector where you can watch the various movies you've unlocked. Tutu breaks this, but I restored it locally with some EXE hacking and renaming of movie files. Also, the water degreenifier leaves artifacts on certain maps (starting with the Coast Way outside Candlekeep) so I'll have to write my own degreenifier when I return to this project.
