I had rather large hopes for Eragon and although critics are mostly biased fools, one can make up a pretty decent opinion about anything by reading many reviews and analysing the points that are common in every critic's article. In Eragon's case, it's bad Star Wars plagiarism, saved from any lawsuit by dropping the story in a Lord of the Rings-type setting. I haven't seen it, I wanted to go this weekend. But now I think I'll wait a few weeks after christmas and play Oblivion instead. Meh. http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/

Darth Drabek Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I was waiting for a thread about this flick to pop up. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long. So what's the deal? It was a fantasy book written by some kid? Does it have any ties to known franchises, or is it a standalone novel? All I know is that I see an ad for it every time I turn on the TV, and that the early reviews I've read have not been kind. baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs

And it's not hateful bashing. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, a [young woman] was given a book by her mother and told, "Hey daughter, you should check this out. I heard it's pretty good." That book was Eragon. The [young woman] excitedly dug into what she thought would be a fantastic adventure, filled with mystical objects and heroes of all kind, a book with a semblance of a plot and arranged coherently enough for one such as her to understand. But as each page drew on, her eyes only grew wider and wider, until at least she threw the book to the wall and cried out, in exasperation, Who the f*** would publish this c***?
