Ummi Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I would gladly be a random citizen in any of Iain M. Banks's Culture novels. 300 years of sex, booze and travelling the galaxy. Yup, good times (w00t) Might get old after a while though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Player of Games was awesome. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Consider Phlebas was even better i think. A wild ride and plenty food for thought too.

LoneWolf16 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Xanth ... now, that would be a world to jump into! Man, I read all those books when I was a kid. Probably the cause of my warped sense of humor and irrational love of verbal puns. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The amount of puns in those books was damn near biblical. :D I'd hide in Mercedes Lackey's Mage Wars series, any of the three books. I love them all. It would definitely be cool to meet Skan...that vain bastard. I had thought that some of nature's journeymen had made men and not made them well, for they imitated humanity so abominably. - Book of Counted Sorrows 'Cause I won't know the man that kills me and I don't know these men I kill but we all wind up on the same side 'cause ain't none of us doin' god's will. - Everlast
Walsingham Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 I considered the Culture novels, but I'm afraid all the smug self-satisfaction would get on my nerves. I can't imagine much worse than hiding in an Irving Welsh book! What are you, nuts? Most books would be interesting if nothing else. Being trapped in a magazine would be a bit - I don't know - constrained, surely? Particularly a porno magazine. You'd be constantly covered in goo, and no-one interesting would talk to you. Maybe Playboy but even then I imagine it would be tedious for more than a week. Ditto for any other magazine, except possibly New Scientist. "It wasn't lies. Lare Kikkeli Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Probably the best scifi-comic ever, beats even Halo Jones. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> better than judge dredd, enki bilal or akira? man, i guess i should check em out. can you find em in the library?

They started to fall off after that. Bink, Trent, Millie the Ghost, the Gap Dragon, all the really bad puns...Priceless. Best thing - if you hid there, you'd never have to shop for shoes! “Things are as they are. Dark_Raven Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 (edited) Started reading Stephen King's "The Shining". It's been a while since I last read it, it's far better than the movies it is based off from. Edited October 26, 2006 by Dark_Raven Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Pop Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 (edited) Started reading Stephen King's "The Shining". It's been a while since I last read it, it's far better than the movies it is based off from. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably the best horror book I've ever read, and I've read some good horror in my time. Totally better than the movie. Nicholson played Torrance too crazy. What made Torrance scary was that he wasn't totally out of his mind. If I had to "get lost" in some book, I dunno, I'd probably enter an old Greek epic, probably the Odyssey. I'd also probably be interested in Lovecraft, maybe "At the Mountains of Madness" Edited October 26, 2006 by Pop Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!

Musopticon? Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 *slaps Walsh* Another nice one would be China Mieville's Perdido Street Station. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. LoneWolf16 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 *slaps himself* Why on earth would you want to be in a Lovecraft book? Or Jurassic park for that matter? Xard Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 (edited) I would not mind being some lazy hobbit (or myself in Shire if I am myself and not one of the characters) from LotR. After Saruman and his gang is destroyed and peace restored to Shire in end of RotK of course How about worst books to get lost in? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Any Lovecraft novel. You're not going to stay alive and if you do, you became half or totally mad Although this question depends heavily on few things: Am I in book as myself, or as one of it character. And if I am one of its characters, can I choose it or is it totally random. Anyway I would not go in single one of the Lovecraft works. In all those cases I am screwed However, if I get to choose who I would be being Roland Deschain from Dark Tower would seriously kick some ass. Especially if I can be young Roland from Wizard & Glass ^_^ Edited October 26, 2006 by Xard How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
Dark_Raven Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I would not say his are the worst books to get lost in, they are rather longwinded, but Tolkien is my choice. He takes forever to get to the point. I love his books don't get me wrong but too much detail gets boring. Salvatore and his Drizzt books are dull. His fight scenes are dull and boring enough to make me fall asleep. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
