November 7, 200619 yr 1up.com scored it a 10/10. Impressive. Still not enough for me to spend $400+ on a 360 though. The console has been out a year and this is only the 2nd "killer app" for it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really? I can name a few top games. Hitman: Blood Money, Oblivion, Dead Rising, NHL 07 (way different than other console versions), Some racing games I don't care about, Fight Night, Tomb Raider: Legends, Prey...I'm sure I'm missing some but those are the ones that I enjoyed and offered a better experience than I'd find on another console.
November 7, 200619 yr Oblivion and Gears of War are right now the top 2 games for the console. The other games you mentioned are good titles but don't fit into the category of "killer app" or "must own", imo.
November 7, 200619 yr Eurogamer gave it an 8/10 Linkage Edited November 7, 200619 yr by Daaave Just because you're a bit thinner than your even fatter mum it doesn't mean you're in excellent physical shape, if you could fit through the door and view the normal people you'd notice that cheeseburger boy. Squid suck.
November 8, 200619 yr Does anyone else think this games looks like 3D contra? I keep expecting someone to be firing a spread shot. Anyways: 9.4 @ IGN http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/744/744356p1.html Gamespot 9.6 http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gea...t&click=topslot

I think for a game to be a "killer app" it needs to be an exclusive. Like Gears of War, for instance.

I think for a game to be a "killer app" it needs to be an exclusive. Like Gears of War, for instance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree. First off, I see the PC and consoles as very different gaming experiences. I typically will buy sports games and action games for the console, while more complex games (particularly keyboard style games) are easier for me to play on the PC. PC games are typically played at a desk a few feet from the monitor, while consoles are played on a couch in my living room. There is also the cost issue, as a PC that can run these games as well as a 360 will cost about twice as much. Granted, the PC is also upgradeable and will always outperform a console in the long run. Secondly, I'm no expert on game development, but I believe that the Xbox is closer to a PC than the PS2 or Nintendo systems. I could be wrong, but this also makes it easier for development teams to create games on both the Xbox and the PC simultaneously. I don't think Microsoft should be penalized for that. Sony and Nintendo are more difficult to port onto a PC. I really see a "killer app" as a game that is top notch and only available on a single console. The PC and console market are actually pretty far apart. The real battle is between Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft, and I feel that the 360 has done a decent job of building a game lineup in it's first year that is competitive with what's available on other consoles.
November 8, 200619 yr Dead Rising is the only other game I would argue may be a killer app <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't own an Xbox 360, but that game is the only one for the system that interests me.
November 8, 200619 yr I really see a "killer app" as a game that is top notch and only available on a single console. That's pretty much what I said. The PC and console market may be, as you say, pretty far apart, but it doesn't make any sense to completely ignore one when deciding what is or isn't a "killer app". Oblivion may have been a killer app for 360 had it been exclusive, but it's not because it also has a huge fanbase for PC. In other news, typing "killer app" makes me feel silly, like I'm using leet speak or something. Blergh.
November 8, 200619 yr I got my Gears of War copy today, and I'll give it a test drive tonight. If it manages to pull me away from NWN2, even if for only 10 hours, the game will be a smashing success.
November 12, 200619 yr I've been reading some reviews for this game and I've come to the following conclusion: Next Gen is the things, developers have been doing for years but, with better graphics. And everyone's supposed to shell out 5000$ for that? Of course, game reviewers all over the world are falling for it hook, line, and sinker. The review scores this game has been getting are ridiculous. http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/gearsofwar "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. November 12, 200619 yr Gears of War has my mild interest. Does it have splitscreen coop? That'd increase it quite a bit. Other than Dead Rising (and possibly GRAW - assuming it IS actually better than the crappy PC version), those are really the only 360 titles that are already out that I could see myself playing. My brother seems to want a 360. I guess he just really wants to play GoW. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
November 12, 200619 yr http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/gearsofwar <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is just nuts. How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
November 12, 200619 yr No, just expected. We all know, however, that reviewers are credible. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
November 12, 200619 yr Meh, I just wait for next month's Pelit. I believe they'll give something like 82-88 points. But really, 100points? 4 times? I expected that this game would be overrated but that's just moronic How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
November 12, 200619 yr I like it when some sites rate something as best game ever and then put it on their list of overrated games years down the line. Heh. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

November 12, 200619 yr XBOX 360, a whole lotta pointless power, it can only look as nice as your TV will let ya. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, and untrue, while Having an HDTV will make the games look sharper (as is the case with both the PS3 AND 360 due to the HD output) Its just like turning your resolution down in any PC game by a little, the game will still look great, just not as sharp... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Huh... I think not it's more like half'in the res, and that's very noticeable... Infact you can't even read the text properly in some 360 games, Dead Rising for example, without a HD - TV. "I'm a programmer at a games company... REET GOOD!" - Me
November 12, 200619 yr Well, then get a HDTV. Heck, if you can afford $400 for a console, it's not that far of a stretch to pay another $400 on a TV.
November 12, 200619 yr Played it last night, it's like a cross between Halo and Half-Life 2, with too much of the former and not nearly enough of the latter. Not the kind of game I'd find interesting for more than the 5 hours it takes to beat it. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
