August 14, 200619 yr http://youtube.com/watch?v=MBKaLN5zU9Y This is one of the better commercials I've seen, and by far the best video game inspired one. I'm absolutely floored that Coca-Cola, which is tied heavily to the Mormon church, released this. I'm really shocked. I might just buy a Coke instead of Pepsi the next time I'm out shopping. Well, maybe not, but I'm still amazed at the commercial.
August 14, 200619 yr You're shocked? Why? There's nothing shocking about that commercial at all. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
August 14, 200619 yr Coke has ALWAYS been cooler than Pepsi. Well, apart from when they tried to foist that new crap on everyone, then relaunched the original and removed the horrid new one. But us people outside the US didn't suffer none. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
August 14, 200619 yr Cool. *is playing San Andreas right now* Though I've never thought there was much difference between Coke or Pepsi (even though I admittedly prefer the latter). I might add it also gets really annoying having to read small text, doesn't it?
August 14, 200619 yr Author You're shocked? Why? There's nothing shocking about that commercial at all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Coca-Cola has done a lot of very hokey commercials in the last 10 years. They aren't typically the company to push the envelope, and using GTA as a backdrop for a commercial is extremely ballsy. Even with the positive message, GTA is the most controversial game on the market. Also know that Coke is tied heavily to The Church of Latter Day Saints. Pepsi does the Cindi Crawford in Daisy Dukes, and Coke does Polar Bears and We Are the World. I don't have a problem with Coke being a conservative group, I just was surprised to see this commercial considering the companies history.
August 14, 200619 yr Sweet commercial. And Diet Pepsi is quite addictive, while Diet Coke is just a substitute for the real thing. Pun IN-tended. baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs
August 14, 200619 yr Now if only some coffee maker could also be inspired by GTA for a commercial... http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/
August 14, 200619 yr If anyone from Coke is reading this, I'm available for commercial spots and am willing to wear a pair of speedos. "It wasn't lies.
