10k fists Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Any idiot can come up with 'sources' and have a 50:50 chance of getting it right. What's the point? Getting a cookie? Getting Darque's admiration? 'No, I'm right!' 'No, I'M right!' <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So now I'm an idiot for talking about a source? Cool...
Daaave Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Do we have release date for this? Looks promising. Just because you're a bit thinner than your even fatter mum it doesn't mean you're in excellent physical shape, if you could fit through the door and view the normal people you'd notice that cheeseburger boy. Squid suck.

Llyranor and I have one of those "let's insult each other as much as we can" type relationships. I think it's because his dirty Commie Army is in the process of being squashed by my elite German Panzer divisions.
Morgoth Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 The video is quite impressive, particularly the digital actors and the technology, although I'm a bit disappointed about the fact Bio doesn't take advantage of fleshing out their own IP, instead they just make another Star Wars clone. One "Meh" for Bioware. Rain makes everything better.
thepixiesrock Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 So, if it's set in space, it's a Star Wars clone? Lou Gutman, P.I.- It's like I'm not even trying anymore!http://theatomicdanger.iforumer.com/index....theatomicdangerOne billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.
Judge Hades Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Mass Effect looks like it has more in common with Fifth Element than Star Wars.
Morgoth Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 It's style is clearly Star Wars. I thought Bio with it's huge reputation and ressources would come up with something more original, and mature. Rain makes everything better.
thepixiesrock Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Ok, so what exactly about it's style is "clearly Star Wars"? And what makes it not as mature? Morgoth Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Mass Effect looks like it has more in common with Fifth Element than Star Wars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If they put the red-haired chick into it, perhaps, but that silly barkeeper reminded me too much of Star Wars. Sorry Bio, more originality next time, please. Rain makes everything better.
Judge Hades Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 The barkeep was one alien. If a game has an alien barkeep its Star Wars like?!?!? Hell, the barkeep in Star Wars, at least in A New Hope, was human.
Morgoth Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Ok, so what exactly about it's style is "clearly Star Wars"? And what makes it not as mature? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Star Wars is about immature mythology (or in ME: "...the machines are coming!!!") and putting teddy bears or blue-skinned clowns into the universe and think that would make sense. Rain makes everything better.

You still didn't tell me what made the game "clearly Star Wars" Lou Gutman, P.I.- It's like I'm not even trying anymore!http://theatomicdanger.iforumer.com/index....theatomicdangerOne billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. Morgoth Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I see there're alot of Star Wars kids here trying to force me to take back my statement here, but I won't. ME is from what I've seen so far clearly Babylon5/Star Wars inspired, and that's somewhat lame. Not bad, but I expected more. Rain makes everything better.
Judge Hades Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Babylon 5 is not lame. Star Wars is lame, but not Babylon 5. Grrr...
thepixiesrock Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I'm not asking you to take it back, but to back it up with something. You're just avoiding the question now. Morgoth Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Babylon 5 is not lame. Star Wars is lame, but not Babylon 5. Grrr... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't said that. You better read first what I say.... Babylon 5, while not completely lame, is still lame compared to Space: Above & Beyond! Yeah, that was an awesome Sci-Fi series. Rain makes everything better.

You're just avoiding the question now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why should I back up my opinion? I know where my taste lies, so I don't need to defend it. And again, you haven't asked any kind of question yet. What is it you want to hear from uncle Morgoth? Rain makes everything better.
kirottu Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Sorry Bio, more originality next time, please. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
thepixiesrock Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 You didn't present it as opinion, you tried to pass it off as fact. Now, you said I never asked "any kind of question". Ok, so what exactly about it's style is "clearly Star Wars"? And what makes it not as mature? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are two questions there. Judge Hades Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 (edited) More I look into it it seems closer to Star Trek than Star Wars. Or maybe Andromeda. I know! EARTH: FINAL CONFLICT! BWAAHAAAHAAAA! (w00t) Edited July 17, 2006 by Judge Hades

I am still looking for the answer to the first question in the series of two questions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Setting and story should go hand in hand. The Star Wars Universe is all about shoe-horning some strange looking, often English-speaking aliens into the Universe just to replace some stereotypes we even see on this earth. Or short: The Star Wars universe is a mess. ME seems to go a similar path: Space hamsters, reptilian warriors put into condom-armour and woman with integrated bike-helmets make as much sense as the Star Wars universe --> Nada. I expected a more finely crafted setting and characters. But hey, since this whole industry is still very immature, I can't expect that much at once, huh? Rain makes everything better.
Judge Hades Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Eh? Condom armor wearing reptile? Condom Armor?!?!?
