Lucius Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Maybe FC Barcelona too. DENMARK! It appears that I have not yet found a sig to replace the one about me not being banned... interesting.
Junai Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Get rid of these american rugby -threads when we discuss the football World-Cup please..
Blarghagh Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 This can serve both. In America, Pro Football is their football, in Europe, Pro Football is our football. One you actually play with your feet, the other is a rich white kid's Rugby for people who are afraid of actually getting hurt so they have to wear full body armor. I don't really have a favourite team, not really into football, but all my friends support Ajax and I suppose that's as good a reason as any to support them as well.
Baley Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Have you actually played Football? It's 1000 times more violent than rugby. And 1000 times more cerebral. Hell, it might just be the most cerebral sport around. They introduced protective equipment because it is so bloody violent. Damn it, people. Many of those bastards on the telly would be dying without it.

There are a lot of black players and fans. So maybe you sould actually know something about a topic before you post in it. I don't care too much though, if you want to look like a moron, fo right ahead. Soccer in America is generally the province of Latin American immigrants and the aforementioned rich white kids, too. But that's entirely beside the point. Assuming that the thread is referring to both sports, I'm a New York Giants fan. Edited June 18, 2006 by Enoch

Blarghagh Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) Haha, you people are so predictable and easy to rile up. Football is more dangerous than American Football because of how people react to it. Edited June 18, 2006 by TrueNeutral

Blarghagh Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) Now, seriously, the only reason black people have been given the chance to play American Football is because it became a high school sport and didn't have to buy the equipment themselves. American Football is also a major reason to call America a bunch of hypocrites. They say videogames are bad because they promote violent behavior. Well, what about American Football? That promotes, trains people to use, and pretty much IS violent behavior. And not even fun at that. As for Rugby being less cerebral and less violent than American Football, I can't even begin to describe how wrong that is. The only reason American Football is so violent is BECAUSE they are wearing armor, not the other way around. It makes them feel safe enough to do crap like that. The cause for your effect is actually the effect. This is why Rugby looks less violent and dangerous. Taking into account that Rugby players don't wear armor, it's proportionally more dangerous. Don't even say Rugby isn't dangerous. I've seen at least two broken legs and four broken arms happen in person, and I've only watched five games in total. Also, more cerebral, the hell? Ten guys pussyfooting around for the ball for ten minutes is not my idea of strategy. Edited June 18, 2006 by TrueNeutral

Blarghagh Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) Care to actually make a comment on the subject instead of just flaming? Or is that beneath you? Fine, I admit that I was wrong about it being a rich white kid's sport. That wasn't even a serious statement more than sarcasm about the state of affairs in America, but I guess people here can't take that. Edited June 18, 2006 by TrueNeutral

Pretty damn violent without much at all in the way of protection. It hasn't changed much, save for a huge step up in the possibility for and dishing out of violence. I'm not some troll, and I don't even know where you got a hint that I'm a racist. In fact, I used the racism as an example as to why American Football was lame. Edited June 18, 2006 by TrueNeutral
LoneWolf16 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Literally, the older stuff. Back when they didn't have much at all in the way of protection. I don't have any footage of that laying around, ESPN might if you ask them nicely, but this is the nearest thing I have. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=64...ootball+tackles I had thought that some of nature's journeymen had made men and not made them well, for they imitated humanity so abominably. - Book of Counted Sorrows 'Cause I won't know the man that kills me and I don't know these men I kill but we all wind up on the same side 'cause ain't none of us doin' god's will. - Everlast
Blarghagh Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I'm impressed by the tackles that cause people to spin around in the air. Not so much by the others (most of these are bull-charges, which they would never do if they weren't wearing helmets), but those are quite dangerous.

Blarghagh Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I still don't see how that makes me a racist. It was past tense. It implied that throughout American History black people were poor. BECAUSE of racism. You're just grasping now. What possible reason could I have to imply that black people are cheap? Heck, I'm dutch, I would never call anyone cheap because I know being called cheap sucks, I get it from everyone. Heck, splitting the bill is called "going dutch".
