Double the hz count. I could really do with an ugrade right now. A gig of ram and my 6600 are fine, but my Athlon 2100+ is coughing blood.

Sound Card Sound blaster, whatever the new model is for around $130. I would typically go for something uber expensive, but it wouldn't be economical in the long run since i could transfer this into my new machine next winter.

For free? I'd get the most expensive graphics card on the market, sell it, use part of the money to get a Geforce 7600GT and keep the rest of the money for something else.

I didn't bring a monitor with me, so I'll be getting a 17-inch monitor as soon as I get my computer through customs. Moving from 15 to 17 inches will be a big step for me. It would be lovely if it were free, but alas, the Monitor Fairy doesn't live anywhere near here.

I plan to abandon my computer two years from now. The AGP motherboard will be obsolete before then (if it's not already). So no more upgrades - it'll be a full replacement next.

What would it be?

I want a physx card.

Asus just showed off their 256mb version of the PPU. I just don't see a reason to get this yet, or anytime inthe near future.

There will be a BIG launch when some game has it ... can you imagine:

Half-Life 2:Episode 3 now with Physics PU support!

Not at all. VALVe already use the Havok engine plug-in for physics calculations, it's just a matter of using the PPU instructions (as an optional branch, for those with a PPU). It's actually not that difficult: more like cut-and-paste than re-buld from scratch.

Definately a new graphics card. But then ofcourse i have to get a new motherboard to support the new graphics card, and new processor as well, since newer motherboards doesn't support Socket A.

Meh.

That's all irrelevant if Ep3 isn't coming out before that date

A better motherboard. The current one is utter crap.

Bugs? Klingon Software does not have 'Bugs'. It has FEATURES and they are too sophisticated for a Romulan pig like you to understand!

Agreed, but the physics effects being currently used by HL2/Havok are pretty much gimmicks and (IMO) do not add substantially to the overall gameplay experience. I wonder if Havok was designed with sufficient forethought to truly harness the capabilities of a dedicated PPU beyond providing a cool gravity-gun like toy.

New motherboard with PCI-E, since mine doesn't have it.
