Movies You Have Seen Lately

I really liked 28 Days Later, but I went into the movie theater not knowing anything about it.

I do recall the next day making mental notes about things I could do to fortify my apartment against zombie attack.

Tomorrow it seems that I'm going to have to watch The Hills Have Eyes. Theres a good chance I'll be checking my watch about ten min. into it.

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

Just saw Good Night and Good Luck. George Clooney has come a long way since "Return of The Killer Tomatoes".

I watched Serenity again last night.

And on the subject of 28 Days Later, I can barely recognize Cillian Murphy as the Scarecrow and that bad guy from Red Eye.

Not to mention Doctor Who being a major.

Jimmy, what point did you think it became an action flick, after the double execution scene?

I just watched Kill Bill volumes 1 and then 2. The first film was a lot better than the second. I'm not a big fan of ultra-violence, and women being hit is not a pleasant site (and I understand that Tarantino just likes looking at pretty girls, and likes kung-fu, so he put them together), but Tarantino has shown that his best talent is his eclectic eye for old film. I liked the attention to bushido and the gravity of law and the structure of it in the film.

I thought the second film was overly long and had an acute identity crisis. Also, try as hard as I might, Uma Thurman just isn't believable as a kung-fu expert.

That's interesting. I've often heard people just dismiss the first as a mindless gore-fest and say the second had the better "plot".

Oh, just saw Master of the Flying Guillotine again. Don't ask me why I like it. Yes, I know it's heavy on the cheese. I think it's just that decapitation turns me on.

That was my friend's big issue/great recommendation item.

I just thought it meandered far too long; al the background stuff I had guessed in the first film: it was totally superfluous in the second. And David Carradine should have had more fight scenes. No respect for the grasshopper!

You should watch Koroshiya 1.

Yakuza boss Anjo disappears with three hundred million yens. His loyal gang members, lead by the masochist Kakihara, start a search, but their aggressive and gory methods worry the other yakuza gangs. Kakiharas most scary counterpart is the mysterious Ichi, a psychopathic killer with a dark childhood secret, who is controlled by a retired cop.

MPAA: Rated R for strong perverse violence/gore and sexuality, language and drug content.

The Man - and man, was it a stinker. A few good comic moments but eh...
