Gabrielle Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Going above level 20 is ridiculous. There is no such thing as epic levels in Star Wars. I found this a very poor design decision on Obsidian's side of things. Also giving a game a sequel where the first one tied things up very nicely and left no real room for one is equally stupid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't even go there mr I had to cheat on Bloodlines. There shouldn't have been any level caps. A strong sith or jedi should be godlike.
Judge Hades Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Of course, on the other hand, KOTOR2 *is* a good game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then let's say "Less development time doesn't make a faulty game, perfect.". For me, NWN2 is the last of chance of Obsidian. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Normally I give developers 3 chances to make a game I deem worthy, unless they make a spectacular failure. Por2 Was a spectacuar failure and I haven't bought a UbiSoft or Stormfront game since that release. For Troika it was ToEE but I did say I would buy Bloodlines if I saw it for sale in te bargin bin so I did. In any case KotOR 2 was good enough for me to buy NWN 2 and two more games from Obsidian. I doubt NWN 2 will be worse than KotOR 2.
Volourn Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 NWN2 is gonna CRUSH KOTOR2. CRUSH IT TOO POO!!! Just like NWN > KOTOR NWN2 > KOTOR2 And, I also predict that NWN2 > NWN > (KOTOR > KOTOR2) Game over. P.S. Figure out that math, geniuses!!! DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Meshugger Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 NWN2 is gonna CRUSH KOTOR2. CRUSH IT TOO POO!!! Judge Hades Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 My equation would be Fallout 1 > NWN 2 > (KotOR 2 > Kotor 1) > NWN 1

No. The ruleset wasn't balanced for that. - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

But, they are trying to put lot's of new features to NWN 2 and i hope this time development time is enough. I think, making NWN 2 is much harder then making KOTOR 2.
Judge Hades Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 They also have had double the time to work on it and a larger staff.
Volourn Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 NWN2 is supposedly gonna have as much dev time as BG2 (give or take). I've read more, and that was from Mr. Feargus IIRC. Length of time should not be an issue as long as they plan accoridng. I beleive they've learned from what they did right and what they did wrong with KOTOR2. The fact that they hired/are hiring a dedicated QA staff also illustrates this fact. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Dyan Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Of course, on the other hand, KOTOR2 *is* a good game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree. I think Kotor2's more of an "interactive story" than an actual game. The combat sucks and I think the only reason so many people play it is for the story & the interaction between NPCs. Without the story & NPCs, I doubt Kotor2 would have sold at all. It's a good game in the sense it allows you to make choices, but aside from that... meh. Oh and yes, the combat is too easy. Did anyone ever actually feel threatened or in danger of death/defeat in Kotor2? Heck, did anyone actually *die*? HK47: Commentary: It is not possible to destroy the master. It is suggested that you run while my blasters warm, meatbags. Bastila to Revan: You are easily the vainest, most arrogant man I have ever met! Canderous to Bastila: Insults? Maybe if your master had trained your lightsaber to be as quick as your tongue you could have escaped those Vulkars, you spoiled little Jedi princess!
Gabrielle Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 In K2 you are godlike as it should be. If the Exile can cause such a problem in the Force than they should be powerful.
Judge Hades Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) Where is the fun being all powerful? It just gets boring. Edited January 4, 2006 by Judge Hades
Gabrielle Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Not pure unkillable godlike but close to it. Fun!
karka Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Being a godlike near the end of game can be fun for a while. But, Kotor 2 is easy from beginning to end.
Judge Hades Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Yeah, a first level character shouldn't be godlike.
Kaftan Barlast Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I still say K2 is one of the best CRPG's Ive ever played. When I was playing it I felt like it was the best game I had ever played. The combat was average(as all games based on the NWN engine) but he story and characters are unparalleled. Volourn Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Don't insult NWN's awesome combat by comapring it to the horrible KOTOR combat, NWN's combat has lots of options, variety, and fun. None of which the KOTOR combat can have. Not even close. And, the KOTOR stories are not unpareelled. They are slightly above average (in comparison, the OC's is average, SOU's is slightly below average, and HOTU is above average). Don't overrate KOTOR series. It is a sad state of affairs when that occurs. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Judge Hades Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I liked KotOR 1 and 2's story more than NWN 1 and its expansions. KotOR is definite a B+ (90%) and KotOR 2 is a solid B (85%).
