Some random suggestions off the top of my head:

  • Super Mario World - one of the first and best platform games for the SNES
  • Zelda: A link to the past - a fun and challenging adventure game
  • Gods - another fun platform/adventure game ported from the PC
  • Super Castlevania 4 - vampire hunting at its best on the SNES
  • Donkey Kong Country 1/2/3 - barrels o' fun (pun intended)
  • Super Metroid - possibly the ultimate SNES platform/adventure game, certainly worth a try.
  • Final Fantasy 6 - a.k.a. FF3 in the US. It has a decent story and some very memorable music.
  • Chrono Trigger - undoubtedly the best JRPG I've every played, a definitive must.

In summary, my tip would definitively be Chrono Trigger. It's quite an amazing game, featuring an engaging plot focused on time travel with several unexpected turns and multiple endings based on your decisions throughout the game, interesting joinable characters with well developed personalities and cool backstories, wonderful hand painted art combined with a superb music score and best of all NO FREAKING RANDOM COMBAT ENCOUNTERS! Personally, I found it much more enjoyable than any of the Final Fantasy games I've played.

Well, yes but most official translations of japanese games are even worse. Especially on the SNES.

Hell yeah, and the situation wasn't much better with some of the PSX releases either. Whenever I'm replaying Final Fantasy Tactics I get a few chuckles from the occasional dialogue misconceptions.

Your taste in console RPGs continues to baffle me. How can you put the Breath of Fire games on your list?

Super Mario World

Donkey Kong Country

Zelda: A Link to the Past

I'll go with this list.

I've played through Super Mario RPG... too many repetative battles sort of ruin it but if you're into grinding activity its a pretty good game.

Final Fantasy 6(3) would be my pick if you're you going the RPG route.

As a final note I'd just like to add all these games play so much better on the original SNES than an emulator, so if you've got the choice go for the real deal.

There are none that are right, only strong of opinion. There are none that are wrong, only ignorant of facts

I really hate to use Emulators. But playing roms in PSP is much better than playing on PC. Button locations are nearly same and visuals look great on PSPs little screen.

But hell..I am doing some kind of piracy

But don't you think there's a world of difference in quality between the Breath of Fire games and the other ones on your list?

Oh definitely. Doesn't mean they're not good.

Right, because I can go into any Gamestop and buy any old cart.

If you've some luck then yeah actually, you generally can. Of course there's also that mother****ing internet. I hear there may be a couple of places you can buy things there. :)

I haven't found any at any Gamestop. Even PSone games are rare.

Ebay is another possibility, but I wouldn't be feeding nintendo anymore would I?

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.
