thepixiesrock Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Is this game like out for X-box? I heard about it and thought it sounded like something I wanted to pick up, but like, I can't find it at any of my local stores. So like, whats the deal with this game, I heard good and bad things about the first one, mostly bad from people on this forum. ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Fable Lost Chapters is showing up for I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]
Krookie Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/232734.asp From what I've heard, it's not as open ended as they claimed it to be.
Spider Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I heard good and bad things about the first one <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just to clarify (in case you were unaware), Fable: TLC is not a sequel. It's the same game as Fable but with some added content. A couple of hours or so I'd guess. As for your question I do believe it's out for the X-box and know it's out for the PC.
thepixiesrock Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 I know, I meant the first time they released it. Kor Qel Droma Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I don't know Pixies, I lent out my copy of Lego Star Wars and was handed Fable in return. I maybe made it through a level or two but couldn't really get into it. So I guess my view wouldn't be accurate because I didn't really give it the time. But the times I was playing it I thought it was pretty bleh. It reminded me of the second LOTR game with some RPG elements in it. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Krookie Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 The Two Towers game was good. I just played Return of the King actually...

Kor Qel Droma Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 You know, I thought the same thing when I was playing Fable. And not to derail your thread Pixies, but I played way too much of the TT, ROTK games. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Calax Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I'm thinking of buying the lost chapters. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
thepixiesrock Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 I went out to buy it a few weeks ago and couldn't find it, but now I see that it is in a "platinum" box, and I didn't know that before. Hurlshort Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I enjoyed the original on the Xbox. It wasn't epic, but it had a lot of neat stuff and was a decent story. I liked showing my trophies off.

WITHTEETH Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 No, the lost chapters is exclusively for PC as it was originally meant to. The lost chapters is Fable but with 25% bigger i hear. Rumor is is that it doesn't make the game much better really. I hear mixed reviews. Some say its great, some say soso. Only way to tell though is if you give it a try! Darth Drabek Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I thought Fable was decent - they had a decent amount of customization, but it isn't exactly as open-ended as the Black Isle devotees would like. The quests were kind of blah, and the storyline wasn't too hot. For what it's worth the gameplay was fun. I know a pretty standard complaint about Fable is that it is too short. One of the reasons it seems so short is as you level up your character in skills, etc., you can barely max out one or two things. If you attempt a well-balanced character, you truly won't excel at anything. There were some cool weapons and other inventory type things to buy and sell. It's just hard to live up to something that's been in development so long. :cough, DNF, cough: baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs
Kor Qel Droma Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Holy snap DD what are you doing posting outside of the music thread? I thought the whole 'run throught the village and talk to people' thing was especially lacking compared to some of the other games at the time. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.

Kaftan Barlast Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 (edited) Fable was pretty much complete crap. Not one ounce of originality Flat and uninteresting main character Generic story All quests are the same (escort character X to point Y sound familiar?) No roleplaying at all The only real game element, the combat, was boring and definently not challenging in any way. Just button mashing. Its actually much more of a simulation(or bad parody) of an RPG. It tries to hide itself using a lot of fancy peripherals like being able to change hairstyles or having townspeople whisper you chosen nickname when you pass them. Boring and uninteresting. DO NOT BUY FABLE! Tigranes Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 (edited) Agreed with Kaftan. It's not all bad, but... well, lets see. Plot: It's about as good as Doom's. Character: Bad. There is nothing redeeming about anything here. Quests / Missions: Go kill a gigantic bee with its bee-spawn in a 20th-century-style park, collecting shiny orbs of power and having random people appraise you for your beeslaughter. Customisation: Mostly on trivial things like hairstyle. You don't feel a real sense of making your own character, but rather taking some mannequin and throwing on random things on it just for a short-lived giggle. Actually, Kaftan is generally right. The combat is really crap, too. Think Jade Empire dumbed down, with an extra dash of crap. (For the combat, I mean.) Edited November 24, 2005 by Tigranes Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
