Well, i've been playing through as DS and only doing the more realistic aspects of DS'ness, and i'm enjoying it. I havnt been forced to break out of character to drown any kittens yet, i've just been a devious underhand DS guy. Though it would be nice if there was a few more opourtunities to exploit things. Hell i even let the

jedi master on nar shadaar

live.

I like playing DS once in a while, because you can be an ass and do what you want to the little people.

Can't be cruel all of the time but it feels good once in a while.

I guess for me i try to be LS in real life, saying this in a non-geeky way, i try hard not to be cruel or mean in any way, so im always playing LS in this game too :-.

I do also play through DS at least once, to make sure that i get the full experience out of the game, and to get alternate endings as well .

Lightside for me. I try to think of KotOR as a movie, and it makes more sense [to me] if the hero is a good guy.

True but sometimes in movies with sequels the bad guy wins in some of them.

True, but I always thought that [if we get it] in KotOR III it would be nice to have a LS male Revan, and a LS female Exile teaming up.

I'm always playing DarkSide

i kill everyone, with HK-47 in my party

I am a Sith Lord bow down before me :(

And the darkside ending in Kotor 1 is the best of all

All Hail Lord Revan! All Hail Lord Revan!

I enjoy the darkside much more, since I enjoy the DS powers, and I think that most completely DS people look awesome. I'm not really one for the just brutish and senseless DS things, but more the shadowy, manipulative things (although once in awhile its satisfying to just go phycho for no reason. The LS in the game just doesn't seem realistic to me, especially in K1. There are just tons of times where you'll just be barging in randomly and people will just ask you to give them like 500 credits out of nowhere. That does not happen much in real life. The only thing I don't like about DS is in K1 when you have to kill Jolee  and Mission :p . Also, Sith Lords always have awesome names, and red double-bladed lightsabers are the bomb.

PS- I would never do anything DS in real life, I actually work at a home where anyone can come and live for two months, no matter who they are, and we have an open house for dinner every night.

I hate to say it or even think it, but I confess... I am made of mush. While I enjoyed my Dark Side run through KOTOR 1 as a male Scoundrel, and my Dark Side run through KOTOR 2 as a female Consular, I just love that rush of satisfaction that comes from a good deed done. Even when it's total fiction, it just feels... right. To give even at a loss, as long as you're smart enough to know a con game from a real need.

I guess I'm too led by my passions... ;) But, hell, who really believes all that "love is evil and leads to the dark side" crap anyway? It only does that if, like any emotion, it's not mastered and overcomes your sense of right and wrong (for instance, Anakin's love COULD have saved Padme if he had refused the Dark Side, being willing to sacrifice even her for the greater good, accepting that she must become one with the Force. Ironically, fittingly, it was the dark side of his love that killed her.)

The important thing is to never get so attached to an emotion that it becomes an unhealthy addiction, something which makes choices for you instead of you making choices concerning it. Think about it, all the things that destroy, hinder, or poison a relationship--jealousy, battered spouse syndrome, fights, disconnection, infidelity--come from emotions which someone refused to master... or worse, suppressed. *looks askance at the Jedi Council for a moment, excluding Vandar*

Stop me before I start saying "Everything I need to know, I learned from Star Wars..."

Aaaanyway, I like the Light Side because to me it represents TRUE freedom. Freedom is essentially light in quality; oppression is essentially dark. I know the general consensus is that the Force is a single entity, and Kreia certainly thought that way, but I don't feel that's true. I feel the physical effects of the Dark Side are an indicator--it bruises, it marks, it scars. It does things to you that you can't truly control once you begin to slip, to surrender. It dominates and uses and masters. The Light Side, on the other hand, offers itself freely--no matter how close to it you get, the choice to change or to remain is always yours. It is not seductive because it doesn't steal or enslave. Your posture may change, people may notice an inner light... but you don't glow or exhibit any Force-related alterations. It's just... you. All of that power, that charisma, the Light Side leaves in your hands, to use well or squander--freedom. All the more scary because you must be strong enough and brave enough to grasp it with your own two hands instead of letting yourself become its tool.

But, hell, don't get me wrong. I LOVE a good Dark Side run. It's enjoyable to see how terrible a force you could become, if you wanted to... just to see the other side. It reminds me, more than playing LS all the time could ever do, how much I appreciate the Light.

Yes, totally agree there...couldn't have said it any better myself! :sorcerer:

I prefer Darkside just because they get the best force powers IMO. I always play lightside first time though so for the other times i go through it i can just go through being evil and not having to worry about picking the right dialouge options and i can just insult the NPC's that annoy me and kill them after. Also killing the jedi masters never gets old. :-

Just because you're a bit thinner than your even fatter mum it doesn't mean you're in excellent physical shape, if you could fit through the door and view the normal people you'd notice that cheeseburger boy. Squid suck.

You bring up good ponits about love and it's complexity. But it's human nature to act like Anakin. Keeping in mind that this is Star Wars and not reality. Anakin's feelings were obviously overdone but to a certain degree most people feel this feeling of helplessness. When your in love don't you dedicate yourself to that person? Isn't it right to help that person? It's a question that many protagonist from many other stories are faced with. Were they wrong? That's where I think Right/Wrong or LS/DS is smeared.

Ahhh love it's a bittersweet rollercoaster...

i ain't a wicked person but the DS gives you more freedom unlike the LS. the DS is more like doing what u want to do whereas the lightside is more of doing things 4 people.(that is annoying now dont u think)_

anyhow all the people that did not betray revan in kotor 1 (bastila, HK-47, T3-M4,and Canderous) are in kotor 2

PS the dark side is a pathway 2 many abilities......

LS feels more natural to me - I'm generally a good person, and while I did enjoy corrupting all my goody-goody party members as DS in K2 and enjoyed reclaiming the throne as Revan in K1 (with Bastila by my side), the DS choices were a role-playing challenge and many didn't make any sense to me.

I do wish there was a real "grey" option, though.
