The Yeti of 66
Has anybody beaten the game without a lightsaber? Is that even possible or will somebody eventually say you can't go on, or will they weld one to your hands or something?
LadyCrimson
I haven't tried, but I've seen some posts in the far past where people were doing that. Far as I know there's no game-plot stopper preventing you from doing so. “Things are as they are. (There are a couple of members who have completed the game with a female Exile in the dancers outfit, or nude, too.) You could be a blaster or a hand-to-hand combat specialist (I'm pretty sure Darth Frog has done this already, if not all of the above). EnderAndrew
I went about 80% of the game without using a saber. I went dual-wield in the first game, which I felt was vastly superior, but everyone swore than Dueling was just as effective, so I decided to try it with the Exile. I had a Sith Tremor Sword that I upgraded on the workbench, and when I beat the game, it was still better than most of the sabers I had. Oddly enough, I beat Peragus/Citadel Station/Telos/Nar Shadda/Yacht/Dxun/Odderon/Korriban and then got halfway through Dantooine before I found my first lightsaber crystal. Kalfear
I had one game where I didnt bother getting my LS until really late into it (outfitted Visas and Handmaiden first). Didnt run into any issues but never tried going whole game. Dont think there would be any issue though Kalfear Disco and Dragons Avatar Enlarged
Lidda-Bit
I would love to make a melee character and I might try it with dueling. My only gripe is that you can't sheath the melee weapons like you kind of can with light sabers when they turn off. I hate the waddling type running the character does with swords equipt =/
EnderAndrew
I disliked Dueling. Down the stretch I compared Visas and the Exile in combat. the Exile had better stats, and the better saber, but Visas's double saber did far more damage because she got in that extra attack. At the low levels initially, Dueling might help you hit more often with the +1, +2, or +3 to hit. But in the later stages of the game, I'd rather take the extra attack when you're already +30 or so to hit. I also took Dueling and the Jedi Weapon Master, only to realize the feats I opened up where for new and improved Two Weapon Combat. Lovely. ShadowPaladin V1.0
Defelction will work fine so you dont really need a lightsaber even if your standing in the middle of a pack of blaster troops. Finished it without a weapon which isnt as hard as it sounds. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]
Darth_Schmarth
I don't like that it's so easy to learn two-weapon fighting. It's just as easy as dueling, which makes no sense whatsoever. In the six movies we see one double-bladed saber, and that was wielded by a freakin' stunt man. Then for some reason that I have yet to figure out (fanboi appeasement on Georgie's behalf?), Anakin (and apparently Obi-Wan) believes that he'll have a bigger chance of beating Dooku with two sabers (which ultimately proves false). So why this dual saber and saber staff fetish? It was even worse in Jedi Academy and ruined half of that game. ^Asinus asinorum in saecula saeculorum
Petay
hmm I would have thought that going the whole game without a lightsaber pretty hard, but going without any weapons at all is pretty impressive , it allways seems to me deflection doesnt really do much without a weapon.. ..but im probably wrong

But once you get Force Storm/Lightning or whatever it's called at the third level, there's no need for a weapon if you're playing a force-user kind of character. The only reason to carry a lightsaber is for the crystal bonuses to your attributes, which are useful but not essential. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." When Darth Maul had his saber cut in half he was twice as fast and beat Obi-Wan. He would have lost if he didn't get it cut in half I'm betting. None of the Jedi Masters or Sith Lords (with the exception of Maul) use more than one saber or double bladers. Single is the best. All of the best use them. Anakin (Vader) Luke Emperor Mace Windu Yoda (of course he's too small to use anything else) Revan (his scorpion stance only works with single) Everyone else who r0xx0rs
Darth_Schmarth
Revan (his scorpion stance only works with single) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which brings me to one of the worst examples: Revan in the cave on Korriban in KotOR2! Why on the face of God's Great Earth does he suddenly wield dual sabers? ^Asinus asinorum in saecula saeculorum
Lidda-Bit
Weren't the Jedi of this era better trained in Martial arts, and much less so as time goes on? So duel wielding is much more common?

EnderAndrew
Heck, I kept Bao-Dur unarmed, even when he was a Jedi. With his personal feats, and the Unarmed Specialists feats, he did more damage unarmed than with a lightsaber. I imagine the Exile could do fairly well unarmed as well. The Yeti of 66
Unarmed Exile is sucky. At least melee can make some sense, especially if you take the path of the Sith, who didn't used to use lightsabers since they were Jedi weapons.
