Arkan Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...v/obit_carson_7 LOS ANGELES - Johnny Carson (news), the "Tonight Show" TV host who served America a smooth nightcap of celebrity banter, droll comedy and heartland charm for 30 years, has died. He was 79. "Mr. Carson passed away peacefully early Sunday morning," his nephew, Jeff Sotzing, told The Associated Press. "He was surrounded by his family, whose loss will be immeasurable. There will be no memorial service. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
Arclam Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 He will be greatly missed. He shaped television in a way that I doubt anyone else ever could.
NeverwinterKnight Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 sad day in the entertainment world.
Conspiracy Theorist Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I don't see what's dumb about it. This is the "way-off-topic" thread anyways *shrugs* Johny Carson will be missed. God Bless him.
PrincessSarah Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Yeah, Johnny Carson was a good Midwest boy. Born in Iowa and grew up in Nebraska. He had just recently donated $5.3 million to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Proud purveyor, owner and operator of the Wonder Twins
BuckeyeRowe Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 YEEESSSSS!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why must you say such a thing about a man who brought laughter and fun to so many? Even if it was a jest, it was in bad taste. God bless Johny Carson. "Working for Davik was like driving a spike in the side of your head. Sure, you got something new up there, but in the end, you've lost something as well." - Canderous "But I though Jedi weren't allowed to love." - Handmaiden "But some do it anyway. We call it pulling a Bindo." - The Exile
BuckeyeRowe Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I was just joking people. <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some things shouldn't be joked about. You live and learn. So you made a mistake. Now you know better. "Working for Davik was like driving a spike in the side of your head.
