A Strategy Gamer in Need

After playing Fallout 2... Fallout was slow, dull, and way too easy. >_<

Both games were ridiculously easy once you discovered how to aim for the eyes. Groin hits were rather amusing too..."

Actually, both Fallout's became ridiculously easy once I found my first automatic weapon. Weird thing is that the same thing happened in Wasteland.. Must be difficult to balance automatic weapons or something.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Feel free to post your other recommendations while I try to hunt down some of these games...

For crpgs: Fallout (the first one) and Arcanum are the way to go.

Forgive the ignorant, but what is the C in CRPG?

Oh, and the explanation: It's subject of much debate, but the general concensus seems to be, that the C in CRPG is the very same C as you find in PC, i.e. Computer, not to be confused with the C in Console. CRPG type games on Consoles sometimes uses the J designation (JRPG) easy to remember as the the J in Console... Confused ?

The J in JRPG stands for Japanses, because until Morrowind and KOTOR, the only RPGs on console were Japanese. Any north american games on console the developers considered RPGs were actually classified as "Action Adventure"

JRPGs used to be like interactive novels, but now are more like interactive movies, with the addition of too many FMVs and voice acting.

Well, I'm still in shock that Darque played FO2 before FO1....that just evil.  And no Darque, not Resident Evil.  :)

I played FO before FO2, and still liked FO2 more. Well, except the ending.

Same here. To me FO2 was truly an improved FO.

I wouldn't have even played FO2 at all if a friend hadn't let me borrow it :-

In that case, you're alright in my book. :p

As for the rest of you 'FO 2 before 1' blasphemers...

As for Planescape..... meh. As somebody else pointed out it's an interactive novel about quasi-spiritual navel-gazing.

Whatever you do, don't listen to these blasphemers. Some people just can't appreciate a good story. <_<

But then, as has been said, definetely don't start out with Planescape: Torment, either.

Try Fallout, if you're not into Fantasy. Best non-Fantasy RPG ever made.

I made this half-pony half-monkey monster to please you

But I get the feeling that you don't like it

What's with all the screaming?

You like monkeys, you like ponies

Maybe you don't like monsters so much

Maybe I used too many monkeys

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

The posters who steered you towards Jagged Alliance 2 was on the right path. That game is an excellent blend of CRPG and turn based combat -- with a dash of strategic planning blended in.

Other recommendations:

Gothic & Gothic 2 -- Probably the best CRPGs in recent years

Baldur's Gate 2 -- Closer ito KOTOR than you may realize with its game rules.

Arx Fatalis

Wizardry 8

Fallout & Fallout 2

Deus Ex -- Kind of a First-person shooter and RPG hybrid. Its Sci-Fi as well

so that may go over well with you.

Thanks for clearing that up.
