Barren Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 If any of them is reading this, can you click the following link and give us a hand? Would be *very* appreciated http://forums.fwstudios.net/index.php?showforum=110 Edit: And as long as you post in the UB forum and not here, it'll be ok with your forum guidelines...
samm Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 uh, that's obsidian here, not bioware.... try it on their forums. Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
Feargus Urquhart Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Yep, you could try there or on the Interplay forums. Any of the guys that worked on the Icewind Dale series or Torment could answer questions concerning the Infinity Engine. Feargus Urquhart CEO Obsidian Entertainment, Inc.
Karzak Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 And if any Bioweenies do read here, could you explaine why you nerfed thieves in BG2? Especially two weapon style, but if you want to tackle lack of scroll use and nerfed items etc... feel free. Let's keep the T&A in FanTAsy ***Posting delayed, user on moderator review*** Why Bio Why?
Iolo Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Maybe try the Infinity Engine Mod Squard forum at Interplay's forums.
Karzak Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Interplay forums are for lamers and wankers. Let's keep the T&A in FanTAsy ***Posting delayed, user on moderator review*** Why Bio Why?
Volourn Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 LOL karzak... Still fighting the thieves being screwed, I see. B) DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Karzak Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 LOL karzak... Still fighting the thieves being screwed, I see. B) It is a great injustice that Bio needs to answer for, in this life or in the next. Let's keep the T&A in FanTAsy ***Posting delayed, user on moderator review*** Why Bio Why?
Iolo Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Interplay forums are for lamers and wankers. That's why I am not there.
Xindell Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Interplay forums are for lamers and wankers. Whoa! Maybe I should sign up! But which am I? A lamer, or a wanker? hmmmmmmm? I find your lack of faith disturbing...
Iolo Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 LOL karzak... Still fighting the thieves being screwed, I see. B) It is a great injustice that Bio needs to answer for, in this life or in the next. How were thieves screwed?
Iolo Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Interplay forums are for lamers and wankers. Whoa! Maybe I should sign up! But which am I? A lamer, or a wanker? hmmmmmmm? Whoever said they needed to be mutually expensive?
Xindell Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 It is a great injustice that Bio needs to answer for, in this life or in the next. Uh oh. You HAD to ask, didn't ya?! I find your lack of faith disturbing...
Xindell Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Whoever said they needed to be mutually expensive? An excellent point. They don't have to be mutually exclusive. I guess I'm both! Weeeeeeeee B) I find your lack of faith disturbing...
Karzak Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 LOL karzak... Still fighting the thieves being screwed, I see. B) It is a great injustice that Bio needs to answer for, in this life or in the next. How were thieves screwed? Well, they were denied proper use of two weapon style, they were denied scroll use, their item selection was much less powerful than other classes (no decent bucklers for instance). There are more than that, but those are the biggies that Bio could never explain. Let's keep the T&A in FanTAsy ***Posting delayed, user on moderator review*** Why Bio Why?
KC-Tang Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 @ Karzak: Well... ToB did solve a lot of those things you've mentioned, and aVenger did a lot of good stuff in rebalancing the Thief in BG2. And overall, isn't BG2 a good game?
Volourn Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 No. Karzak was gonna rate it 90%; but the thieves being 'screwed" dropped it down it 25%. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

And overall, isn't BG2 a good game? ToB didn't fix anything, it just added a bunch of uber items and powers in a lackluster story and IWDish gameplay. Bio should have stepped up and either fixed it themselves or explained why they did it in the first place and couldn't fix it. Overall BG2 was a good game, but it could have been much better. Sadely the lack of concern by the developers that took seed in BG2 fully blossomed in the manure pile of NWN. Let's keep the T&A in FanTAsy ***Posting delayed, user on moderator review*** Why Bio Why?
Volourn Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Which you have called a "good game". Go figure. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Karzak Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Which you have called a "good game". Go figure. I called it a good game in a certain context, like diablo 2 is a good game, in fact by sales figures diablo 2 is a FAR better game that NWN and FAR FAR better than PS:T. I know context is something that eludes you volo. Let's keep the T&A in FanTAsy ***Posting delayed, user on moderator review*** Why Bio Why?
Volourn Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Okay. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

Sadely the lack of concern by the developers that took seed in BG2 fully blossomed in the manure pile of NWN. With Throne of Bhaal, Thieves and Bards were allowed to use and make scrolls or to Use Any Item. I agree that ToB is a Uber Item Campaign. And again, I'd be happy to point to aVengers Rogue Rebalancing Mod which 'upps' the Thieves/Bards to their Pnp counterparts, which also included some Thief-specialty weapons without overpoweredness. A part from the possible Thief nerfness, SoA has been a good game. I still play it.
Karzak Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 With Throne of Bhaal, Thieves and Bards were allowed to use and make scrolls or to Use Any Item. UAI was a crap powergiven because the devs lacked the imagination to do better. ToB didn't fix thieves DW. And ToB came out too late to fix SoA anyway. SoA is a good game unless you play a straight thief, Bioware just wasn't that concerned with the ruleset or the spirit of D&D, and it went from a little bit of crap in SoA to a whole steaming platter full in NWN. Volourn Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 So true, so true. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
