Pawe Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Yeah, this really bugs me. Signature is pretty cool thing, but NOT then, when you can put html code in it. I hate those people who put some "banners" down to their siganture, it's so annoying plus it takes extra time to download whole topic, mostly this bugs me off, if I'm using 56k connection somewhere. Secondly, html code in signature is useless, it doesn't do any good. I know that someone likes to advertize their own page, own nick etc., but hey, NO HTML IN SIGNATURES. Thank you.
Grand Moff Tarkin Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Oh come on, its not that big of a deal. Lots of ppl have sigs etc they've had since the old bis boards or the old old ip boards. Besides you can choose to turn of ppl's sigs in your personal setting. Voila, problem solved.
Balthamael Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 I do find banners somewhat rude. Not a big deal though, since my browser(Mozilla Firebird) has an option to block images from certain server.
Megatron Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 I'm glad the whole "M,EGALORDS FRIENDS: john johnny5345 greendarklord666 MEGALOZRD ENEMYS EVRT1 ELSE > Crawling in my skin these wounds they will not heel fear is how i faul confusing worlds its reel SHOUT OUT 2 WINTERWANDZ! PEACE!" Bull**** has finished. Also looks like nobody is using those dumb arrogant banners anymore either. Most I just skip through the sigs as they're just quotes from other people about themselves. Auto-fellatio time or something. >*
mkreku Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Oops. Sorry. I'll just try to stay away from any thread you participate in, ok? My signature is my hobby. It's a non-commercial game reviewing site written entirely in swedish. We're just a small group of game fanatics trying to widen the swedish gaming scene. I mostly review CRPG's (which is why I am here) and I thought that if ever some swede would happen to wander into these forums he/she should get the chance to read our reviews. And I'm sure your 56k modem will be able to handle my link.. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Diogo Ribeiro Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 You have an option to hide signatures and images posted on your account page. If its a problem, deactivate them. I did the same so pages would load faster.
Megatron Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 I don't mind most sigs, I usually read through them. Stuff like that is a bit annoying. When your sig is longer than your posts, it's time to snap your keyboard over your head or something. >*
Mr Wibble Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 I don't mind most sigs, I usually read through them. Stuff like that is a bit annoying. When your sig is longer than your posts, it's time to snap your keyboard over your head or something. He always has a huge sig. You're not the only one who is/will be annoyed by it.
mkreku Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Too bad signatures tend to become mantras after a while on a board. It's like that same person is saying the same thing over and over and over.. I'm more concerned about the length of the signatures, myself, than what the message in them is. I must admit that messages that are shorter than the signature of the poster can get on my nerves sometimes. But, like in the case of the Deus Ex 2 boards, signatures can also hold valuable information. There's a poster on those boards that has a link to the latest PC mods for Deus Ex 2. So everytime you find a post by that guy you can go check out if the hi-res models have been updated! A great service. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Seraphim Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 He has been asked to reduce the size of the signature. A general rule of about eight maximum lines will be enforced here, although under five is preferred. Thanks.
Guest Mistress Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 He has been asked to reduce the size of the signature. A general rule of about eight maximum lines will be enforced here, although under five is preferred. Thanks. That's cool - really big signatures can be annoying. Personally, I don't mind small images, and links aren't a problem at all.
Exitium Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Banner images aren't too annoying so long as they aren't space/bandwidth hogging. I don't mind the whole "Computer specs / 3dmark2003 score" business either. I think that as long as they're small they shouldn't be too much of an issue but if there's anything I can't stand it's those 8+ line signatures with shout outs to friends, buddies and family none of us have ever heard of (or care about, for that matter), a giant post quote, and multiple animated pictures. Those are the worst. Exitium RPG Codex - the premier avant garde gaming news site. Sargallath Abraxium Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 ...as me ol' dwarven bud howling1 would say, "Sig Limits be Un-dwarven!"... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... But then Krackhead left and so did Klown; Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town. Bad news on the Front Page, BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage. I can't remember if I cried When I heard that TORN was recently fried, But sadness touched me deep inside, The day...Black Isle died. For tarna, Visc, an' the rest o' the ol' Islanders that fell along the way
Megatron Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 perhaps you and howling could just...leave then. I don't mind sigs. Helps when there some-what witty or informative, lyrics and shout-outs are silly though. Who reads it anyway, just more stuff to scroll past. >*

Volourn Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Ahh.. Sarge starts on the left trolling foot. Not surprising. *shrugs* And, oh, hi, Sarge. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Jebus Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Some people should also be more considerate of people who are colorblind. Red letters on a dark-grey background are absolutely unreadable to me, for example...

Megatron Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Please stop putting huge gaps in your posts, they aren't funny or amusing. Ya big ****. It's a sig, stop whining about your painfully unfunny piece of crappy signature. Even that green guys one was a little more intresting as it was green. Make it green. And shorter. Then do other stuff, like be less gay. Cheers. >*

Megatron Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 I'm probably older than you anyway. Or at least more intelligent. Cheers. >*
