In the states, you would have to specifically get signed/verified delivery (i.e. face-to-face, make sure you're actually home) for them to bother with that, otherwise they just drop it on your front porch or whatever and you hope somebody doesn't take it, particularly if you have no idea if something was delivered and you only check hours later. Usually you only get that service for extra money or on high value items. What the... but yeah, at least it wasn't just dropped in front of the door, although with my neighbors here being who they are, I'd have my controller now. 1 No mind to think. No will to break. Keyrock Posted December 14, 2022 Author Posted December 14, 2022 Delivery guys and gals generally just put the package in front of my door. Luckily, none of my neighbors are thieves so it's never been an issue. Back when I drove over the road I had packages sit in front of my door for several days and no one stole them. 1 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Humanoid Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 Yeah, I've been lucky to have avoided porch pirates so far despite dozens, probably hundreds of deliveries having been left at the front door - all day on occasion. Not that it didn't make me nervous, particularly when a couple of times it was for parts worth several hundred dollars. Probably even less risk now though as I have a new neighbour, an old retired guy, who spends all day tinkering in his garage with direct line of sight to my door. L I E S T R O N GL I V E W R O N G
majestic Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Leaked specs for the Switch 2, or whatever it is going to be called, look really interesting. Might turn out to be a handheld with PS5 level of performance. If it's downward compatible with my old Switch games I might even pre-order. No mind to think. No will to break. Bartimaeus Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 They better call it the Super Nintendo Switch (SNS). 2 Quote Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved - indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

Bartimaeus Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) "Switch Too" sounds like an alarmingly similar innovation to "Wii U"...kiiind of thinking they're not going to tempt fate with that one. At least the Super Nintendo was successful, though it was obviously forever ago and marketing has hugely changed since then. CopingMarlinsFan Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I have a hunch regardless of the new name of the Switch's replacement it will still be underpowered. I mean the Switch itself was underpowered when it came out so it would make sense especially since they will not give up portability.
Bokishi Posted Monday at 09:31 PM Posted Monday at 09:31 PM We gonna talk about Switch 2? Been playing Mario Kart World and Cyberpunk (must have bought that game 4 times now) Current 3DMark
Gfted1 Posted Monday at 10:30 PM Posted Monday at 10:30 PM I feel like Im hallucinating looking at this price. Is this normal? I mean, it must be, its Walmart after all: Nintendo Switch™ 2 + Mario Kart™ World Bundle - Walmart.com  SEVENHUNDREDFIFTYDOLLARS! But hey theres 2 in stock! For no reason whatsoever, my brain had decided that a Switch 2 was ~$350.00, with games going for ~$80.00, so imagine my surprise. I need to get out more. http://www.sloganizer.net/en/image,Gfted1,black,red.png

For no reason whatsoever, my brain had decided that a Switch 2 was ~$350.00, with games going for ~$80.00, so imagine my surprise. I need to get out more. MSRP is $450 ($500 for the Mario Kart World bundle), which everyone got mad about as being about $50 too high. Then the whole tariffs business started, and Nintendo retracted their MSRP and waited for the dust to settle...then tariffs were taken back(-ish), and Nintendo re-announced that $450 would indeed be the MSRP and everyone was like "phew, okay, that's so much better than what it was looking like", but then the initial stock was immediately sold out and now all we have are scalper prices, which are generally between $650-800. Depending on how the whole tariff situation ends up ultimately working out, it might actually get way worse. Anyways, I'm not familiar with WalMart or how their online store works, but I was looking at the shipping details and it says it's being shipped by a third party seller called "Sunrise Mail", so that's not WalMart's own price...and indeed, pricing aggregators seem to register the WalMart page as actually being "out of stock", with the listed price as being $500 instead. I don't think any of this much matters yet, since there ain't any games, not unless you count Mario Kart World as one, which I don't. Haven't ever enjoyed Mario Kart, and an open world version of it makes it exponentially less appealing to me, . All these cruddy open world games, I tells ya - at least it's a franchise I don't care about at all this time. You can't even start off the game as Princess Daisy, you have to unlock her in one of the cups. What an absolute outrage. What an absolute outrage. Which takes all of five minutes. Well, maybe fifteen, which is the average length of a cup. The actual cups aren't open world either, they're standard Mario Kart fare, with a mix of new and reused track designs. It's pretty fun so far, then again, I pretty much just ignore the free roaming part entirely. As far as Mario Karts go it's a good entry, but I don't see it being as legendary as the N64 or Game Cube / Wii version, but it might be too early to call. If you don't like Mario Kart as a franchise then this certainly isn't the entry that is going to change your mind. There probably will never be such an entry, there's only a limited amount of gameplay you can change in a kart racer with silly power ups, unlike the variation that is possible from other Nintendo franchises. From a techincal point of view the frame rate and smootheness of the game are what stand out the most. It just plays really well, even with double the amount of racers on a track. Spoiler You can also unlock Swimwear Daisy, if that doesn't make you buy the game instantly, I don't know what will.  No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.

What am I going to do in the meantime, play as Baby Daisy? My God. Spoiler I have to be honest, ever since they gave her two decades-long voice actress the axe, my enthusiasm for new Princess Daisy has been a little muted. The new lady that plays her isn't bad, but she's not Deanna Mustard: she just doesn't have that psychotically bright and over-reactive axe murderer energy that I so desperately need. Just looked through all her costumes - Swimwear Daisy, is funnily, my least favorite of the whole bunch. Original, then Aero, then Oasis are my top three. If Nintendo ever makes an Astronaut Daisy, that'll probably be my favorite design, because ladies in spacesuits are the best. And I mean a real spacesuit, not like a fake sexy spacesuit, because those are dumb. Quote Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. That one seems the most Princess Daisy to me. It's like a better and more detailed version of some of her old soccer designs, and the little hair ribbon is cute...unlike the silly French beret or baseball caps. The swimwear outfit...if someone had explained to me in words its design, I probably would've thought that I'd have liked it, but for some reason, it just doesn't look great to me. As a Super Mario Odyssey hater, this does not make me happy. Guide me, o' Lucifer, to some new road... I was disappointed with both Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. Both games seem to have been designed as a case study for what one could do with a hybrid portable console. Play somewhat longer sessions at home when docked (i.e. Zelda's "larger" dungeons or Odyssey's "larger", more linear levels) and do busywork while on public transport, like getting a Korok seed or two, doing a small puzzle shrine or getting one of the myriad moons. Ultimately both ended up being weaker entries in their franchises, although Breath of the Wild still has the distinction of having really, really good exploration mechanics. That's just not something I care a whole lot for. Edit: That Donkey Kong game made me realize that I would really love a Blast Corps remake, or at least another game like it.  Edited yesterday at 07:19 AM by majestic 1 No mind to think.
