I just got a hit-to-crit conversion on Thrice She Was Wronged; I checked my character, and the only item with hit-to-crit conversion is the crossbow I'm wielding (Bonus Crit Chance). Question is... is this something weird with Thrice She Was Wronged, or does it apply to everything? If it applies to everything, this could make crossbows an ideal weapon for TheLee's Disruptor Theurge and other crit-heavy builds.

Thoughts?

EDIT: This makes me wonder if Scourge of Bezzello's Whistling/Howling Bolts upgrade would also apply to spell crits, since it doesn't seem to specify that it must be weapon crits...

EDIT2: Scourge of Bezzello's upgrade appears to be weapon-only.

What class are you playing? Are you sure that you have no other source of conversion?  Because I know that the combat log entries for conversions are somewaht buggy (for example if you play a Debonaire and attack a charmed target then the log always tells you that it was converted from hit to crit by Dirty Fighting and not the Deboniare passive; if you don't pick Dirty Fighting it won't tell you you converted at all and so on).
So maybe in this case the log is buggy again and displays the crossbow conversion although something else converted your attack roll?

If that's not the case: well then you found out something new and interesting. :)

I was playing a Celebrant (Troubadour / Berath) human male and I was in the Engwithan Ruins on Port Maje. I checked my character, and the only source of hit-to-crit I could find was the crossbow I was wielding. This isn't that surprising given that I'm still on the starter island.

Berath's Blessings include bonus skills, attributes, and 5,000 gold. Rings were Gaun's Pledge and that one Suppress Affliction ring you can find in town. No potions, drugs, consumables used.

In short, I'm pretty darn sure it's the crossbow's hit to crit that made it happen.

EDIT: I also remember checking the accuracy roll, and I did not get above 100; in fact, I think the target's defense was greater than my accuracy. EDIT2: Not surprising given that this was on PotD upscaled.

Dang! I just used a crossbow on my lvl-4-Skald and Come Soft Winds of Death got converted from hit to crit by the Bonus Crit Chance of the crossbow! I also have no other source of conversion yet.

<a href="/File:Poe2_crossbow_exceptional_icon.png" class="image"><img alt="Poe2 crossbow exceptional icon.png" src="100?cb=20180509140225" decoding="async" width="100" height="100" /></a>

The HTML code is showing in the list of crossbows; I think that's what Waski and Bosmer mean.

🤷‍♂️

For me:

I didn't even edit the list, only added the "Trivia" part. The list is auto-generated anyway by a single line of markup. I didn't touch that either.

i don't think it has anything to do with boeroer's edit. i just remove the trivia section to see, and i still had the problem

I think that wiki's cargo-stuff that generates the list is a bit glitchy. I accidentially edited the source for the whole page and not only the small trivia part. So after saving the site tried to generate the list anew (as I said I didn't actively edit that part).

That list generation works like crap anyway: always items are missing and others will have double or triple entries. You them ust to "empty" edits to force a new list generation and whatnot. It's nice that in theory you'd only have to edit one data source to update all sites that reference the data- but it doesn't work so well imo.

@MaxQuest, @Phenomenum, should it be patched in your opinion ?

I don't know. Given the weak representation of (unique) crossbows in the game it's kind of nice that they do something special - even if it's unitended and weird. ;)

And the bonus isn't that impactful to be honest. There are way better stat sticks for casters.

On the other hand: not many will miss it if it's patched out. And it is an obvious bug. Hm... 🤔

If I were an official dev I would patch it out and put an interesting (not necessarily supergood) unique crossbow rel. early into the game.

But we're not dev, we're modder 🙂 and each mod has its own purpose.

If you need an unique modded crossbow, there's one over there :

"BaseCrossbow_SEHitToCritChance" status-effect have no restrictions in attack filter so Bonus Hit to Crit applies on any source (spells, poisons, bombs) when crossbow is equipped.

In my opinion, it looks like oversight and must be restricted to crossbows only, because with other weapons, which have any special effects (e.g. Sabre Bonus damage) these effects applies only for those weapons attacks. So crossbow bonus for all sources are inconsistent with rules for other weapons.

Just need to add CrossbowKeyword in attack filter - simple.

P.S. I'm workin' hard last weeks so i can't spent much time for modding right now, but i makin' notes of every adjustment we need to do.
