Is there a good non trash priest PL 9 ability?

Tested single class priest of skaen today and while PL 8 is insanely powerful the 3 PL9 abilities I tested were gutter trash:

Incarnate, Skaen, Wael.

With Wael arguably being the "best" aka not worth the cast and recovery time.

Incarnate doesn't have any pen (on upscaled Potd) and only attacks with basic attacks, can't even control it either.

(Hit the naga who guards Sungrazer for 3s of dmg).

Waels spell is so much weaker than other priest spells of lower level that it doesn't seem worth casting, especially not over something like Rymrgand, which as I posted above I somehow completely overlooked.

Ok, this is just me, but...

Breaths targets Fort, which makes it less than optimal for bosses and I would never waster it on regular mobs...

For a T9, I don’t see the point of building around a spell to make it effective, like debuffing Fort, but I might be lazy.

It kind of makes sense. Skaen is a loser that obeys Woedica like a dog. He favors "Secret Hatred", "Covert Plots", "Resentment" and "Envy" in his portfolio. "Defiance" and "Violent Rebellion" not so much.

Another example why raising AR with difficulty is bad. Not only makes certain classes and weapn types viable - while others are useless all of a sudden, but also wrecks some spells.

Raise defenses, health, and most importantly: smartness of behaviour and ability portfolio - but NOT AR!

Yeah you're lazy :p It's always worth it to at least cast Shining Beacon.

Also, for groups, Berath uses his PL8 spell instead.

Agreed, though it would also help if the new AR system wasn't so bad. I've been wondering how hard it would be to mod a system which imposes a 5% penalty per point of difference between penetration and AR (with a floor of 20% damage and a ceiling of 130%), rather than having cut offs. I don't have the time at the moment to look into it myself, but towards the end of the year I might.

But yeah, even with such a change, giving big boosts to AR with difficulty is bad.

My character lost all respect to him (and quit being one of his priests) at the end of the first game. Look at what he says if you are an aristocrat:

Honor your portfolio! :facepalm::banghead:

Fair call on PL8 spell, well played.
