baldurs_gate_2 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Normally you just have to acquire it and after that, go to dunnage and speak to his owner, but the owner does not show up for some reason. Is that quest now different?
Myrtillo Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 The same thing happened to me, and I assumed that in 1.1 you have to unlock the soulbound ranks for the owner to appear. I didn't test it though, so I can't say for sure.
Gary1986 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Can only the watcher equip the talking sword even when it becomes a unique?
Balbanes Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Can only the watcher equip the talking sword even when it becomes a unique? In 1.0: no, anyone can equip once everything is unlocked. Not sure about 1.1, but I imagine it hasn't changed.

Is that quest now different? I just completed the quest. Perhaps you need to bind it and complete the first 3 requirements untill modwyr tells you where to go and then that person shows up. That's what I did. The sword shows more requirements after telling you where to go, but I just went to Dunnage and then she was there so I could turn Modwyr into a sword for everyone. Sword works the same as in prior patches. Edited June 16, 2018 by AeonsLegend
baldurs_gate_2 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 I can confirm now that it has changed with the patch. You have to do the whole sould bound thing and always talk to modwyr. After that she shows up in dunnage.
Sifjar Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 (edited) Strange. Before i could release him and have a reqular sword. Now w/e i do it eather i give him away or keep him with soul attached. Quest have been changed? Edited June 25, 2018 by Sifjar
Boeroer Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 No. But you have to level up the soulbing first so that the owner spawns. Then it works like before. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Arddv Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Strange. Before i could release him and have a reqular sword. Now w/e i do it eather i give him away or keep him with soul attached. Quest have been changed? You need Xoti in your party to release Modwyr's soul. Stats are the same either way.

Not as annoying as Concelhaut, but still.
Enoch Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 I gotta say, without the shortcut, the whole package is much less appealing. Apart from boarding battles, I haven't been fighting a whole lot of Kith enemies, so it's taking quite a bit of time to get to 1500 damage (while it is merely "Fine") and 25 kills. Best way to get it operational early might be to grab it ASAP, then go take the Kill 'em All approach to Fort Deadlight.
Myztik Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Damage done to your party members counts as Kith damage 2
JackalTornMoons Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I got the full soulbound bonuses yesterday without having to kill the 25 kith: -I hit 1500/1500 damage to Kith on Torkar's crew in Dunnage -Talked to Modwyr -Talked to Modwyr's owner -Voila
Camonge Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I also needed board fights for kith damage. Any damage will do, so if you are a spellcaster, lots of AoE spells can make you reach the cap faster.

It only takes about one battle with carnage and soul annihilation. The kills are an issue but at least you don't have to actually record the kill with Modwyr when dual wielding to get credit.
