Just found Modwyr, and after a little of disappoint with the weapon type (i'm using a devoted with double sabres ) i've read this description about soubound

And i guess it's wrong (it's from PoE 1) , how you can see here are mentioned ruffian weapons that aren't anymore in the game

Btw i've tried to see if something changed to 'not soulbound' it but i don't see any improvement, my devote penalty on accuracy of -10 is always here.

Someone know what changes? Or if it's bugged?

Seem that nothing change from a common weapon

Yup it is the old soulbound description from PoE 1.

Modwyr is a soulbound sword, and becomes a unique sword once you complete her quest.

She will always get the malus from devoted if you are not devoted to swords..

Thnks for answer , so soulbound a weapon doesn't give any benefit except the quest?

A soulbound weapon increases gradually in power when you complete certain conditions, gaining various effects that may vary depending on the class you bind it too.

Modwyr is a specific case because she has a quest tied to her progression, and after the quest is resolved she turns into a non-soulbound weapon (a normal unique if you wish, but that sounds silly :w00t: ).

Soul bound weapon doesn’t feel unique in deadfire, but that’s maybe because all unique weapons are pretty unique.....

And I don’t like the class restrictions of them...

I feel that soul bound weapons have really suffered in PoE2. Why? Because every single unique weapon now has unique upgrades, which are often at least as awesome as the soul bound stuff, and you don't need to bind the weapon to a single character and then meet (time-consuming) requirements. In PoE1, soul bounds were the only weapons with cool unlockable special sauce. Now they are just a more complicated to use type of unique.

Maybe not hte best place for it, but since I have already started: I was never fully satisfied with how soul bounds worked. Giving class specific boni is fine, but that makes them... 'class bound'. From something called soul bound I always expected reactivity to my player character's 'soul'. Right, class is welcome to make an impact here, but much more than that, I want to have the dispositions, which the game meticulously lists for us, influence the item's effects and upgrades - you are a cruel person? Corrode damage and weakening! You are stoic? Plus all defenses! Passionate? Something something fire! You get the picture, I think.

I see dunehunter beat me to it, so I'm not alone with that feeling.

"Regular Unique" upgrades are very expensive and require special material though. Soulbound upgrades are basically free if you meet the conditions. Can't complain about getting Lord Darryn's Voulge and quickly upgrading it to superb right after leaving Port Maje. Without spending even 1 gp.
