Our group of over 20 modders recently set up a request page for Mods the community desires

 

The address for this system is https://poe.peardox.com/modreq - all we need is your Forum Nickname and what you want us to do - your forum Nick is required so that the Mod Dev can discuss your idea with you via PM before release to clarify any details the Mod Dev want's to know.

Please note that requesting a Mod does not guarantee we'll write it for you.

Since we set this system up we've had two requests (it's a new system so we're surprised we've had two in under a week)

Backstab class-dependent and Rauatai Scale Armor.

The Forum members who requested these either are already in contact with the Mod Dev or will be shortly as both have been deemed worthwhile so expect to see them soon-ish

If you have a really good Mod idea but can't mod yourself just fill in the form and we'll see what we can do.

I've heard from one of our Mod Devs that Rauatai Scale Armor is being developed in a more advanced way that requested

 

I know that the Forum member and Mod Dev are already discussing this Mod and making it even better

I was just consulted over one small aspect of this Mod so I know for a fact from the question I was asked that this is in-progress

See - ask us - it works!

I love Enchanter subclass but I also love Illusions. Could you make a mod to switch the disabled school? I don't mind if its evocation as a penalty or perhaps remove the school restrictions all together.

Since making this post yesterday we've had five new mod requests so this is definitely working

 

I know that some Forum members have already been contacted by the Mod Dev who's going to write their request

If you've not been contacted about your request, don't worry - we'll get around to considering your request

The first one req has been publish at the time of writing (we started on this stuff yesterday) - oh, @kilay posted it above while I was writing this :)

Dead Parrot APP ?

 

That's how modreq (and invite) work. When you fill in the form for either DP posts a message on our shared Slack (it does other things too). This is a custom Slack app originally titled POEBot but it was requested that I change it's name to Dead Parrot

 

Why Dead Parrot?

 

It's part of one of our members mods - TT1 Unique Items - and is named after the Norwegian Blue sketch by Monty Python

Sadly we've had a few ModReqs that were rejected today for various reasons...

 

1) UW Monitor - sorry, nothing we can do about this - this is not a moddable thing

 

2) Don't walk into the my AOE - you can do this with custom AI although we believe there is a No Friendly Fire mod on Nexus (that may suit)

 

The remaining reqs are being discussed

 

It is mentioned that we will consider, but there is no guarantee, that we'll pick your req up

 

Most of your requests have been superb and have our team very busy

 

We will be introducing some sort of feedback system soon to let you see the creative ideas we have from you

 

It must be noted that we're a band of POE fans who are not paid by anyone, this is all completely free work even though it costs us personally both time and money

We're a bit clogged up ATM

 

We didn't expect this to be as grow the way it has

 

We have 17 requests that are active. Of these I believe one is completed and three are under active development.

 

I initially announced this in my Sig so it makes it understandable that by the first time we made this public only a few reqs were asked for

Day 2 - we got another 5 and completed 1

 

Day 3 - another 11

 

I'm trying to make order out of the chaos this demand has caused - we will shortly let you see what we're being asked to work on

 

Day 4 (tomorrow) - DON'T stop requesting mods but kindly understand that our team can only write so many new Mods per week - we'll get to considering yours!

 

Some of our members are having problems thinking up new Mods - inspire one of us!
 

The modreq channel on our Slack is very busy (the request form posts a message to us)

We should have new systems in place next week to control everything better - as I said, we didn't expect such a flood of requests so were un-prepared (not something to expect in a community like ours)

Please be specific - something like a crossbow that adds fire damage for example. We don't know what type of weapon you desire

Six new ones today

 

I'm still working in listing the modreqs (I have many roles)

 

We got the art release on one req (Moon Godlike) so this one is easy to fix now - give us a few days to re-do this one

 

We MAY have a French translation available (if you so Spanish, I BELIEVE this is the only missing one - if we get French) See my Sig for the invite. Your translation work will be very light - The cat sat on the mat sorta things usually. Sometimes things are a lot longer. We'll help you out and credit you in return.

 

We have been EXPERIMENTING with a Discord server this evening - two members of our team are breaking fixing it at the moment

 

The goal for Discord is to move away from my choice (Slack). What we THINK we can do is merge our ModDev stuff with Public.

Honestly, we're in Alpha - the channel is three hours old so give us a little time to throw things together

This is still a work in progress so kindly forgive the obvious issues (I wanna write a Mod and a Tutorial in the next few days)

All the dates are messed up, this is owing to us imagining a messaging system would be able to keep with demand - little did we realise how popular this stuff would be. We had to manually modify the system to record all requests in real time so they're not actually in request order.

Some reqs have already been filled - something else we need to fix

We thought you might like to see what we get asked to write - well, this is the full list - it updates in real time

This, as we say, is somewhat of a Beta but will be of interest to Forum Members

I've not tried this out on mobile devices yet (I also develop on iOS and Android plus a few less popular devices - FireTV anyone?).

 

This release is designed for browsers (Beta) - it should function OK, you just won't get the hover effects I think

Just updated https://poe.peardox.com/modlist (first version was more a test for my friends)

There have been some alterations to it requested - did the easy ones :)

 

The dates, while not perfect, are close to reality now

 

The list is now reverse-date sorted - i.e. most recent first.

One request was that I change the short description to pick out keywords to give an idea of what the request is about without having to read the full request possibly with a hover showing more complete request text (hover won't work on most people's mobile). These are both things I can do, the keywords idea is a good one and has a good chance of (partial) success but is complex to write - i.e. I'll try to get to it...

 

Some obvious enhancements are allowing download links and a Notes section for members of our Mod team for example (we usually just PM the OBS forum members) - there are lots of things that CAN be done, the question is usually is it worth it?

Funny that should be in the requested list. 

 

It just so happens that I have done this on my home computer and have been playing around with it since Mid June. 

 

Getting pissed off at that restriction and figuring out how to 'fix' it was what got me into modding, actually. :lol:

 

It took a ****load of work to do, and I'm 99.9999% satisfied with it.  There are a couple of warts still, and I had to make a ton of compromises/allowances along the way as there are a few near-contradictory upgrades out there.  And I'm also sure there are some bugs hiding in there.

 

Still...  Well, let's just say I took a look at Nexus Mods and decided that I'll PROBABLY put a nice clean version of it up there soon.

 

Ish. ;)

 

Mostly I want to pretty up the code, change some values from my home system when it comes to buying upgrade ingredients to something slightly less game breaking...

 

But...

 

Well...  

 

Let's say this has been done and is doable.  

 

So.  Watch This Space, as the saying goes. :)

To piggyback on my last post a bit, it would be relatively simple to do a Blind Idiot removal of the restriction system where it comes to upgrades for unique items.

 

It'd be messy and lead to poor user gameplay due to having to keep track of what mods had been applied, but it'd be doable.  But there would be lots of problems, as seen in a bit.

 

It'd be slightly more complicated to make it so when an upgrade is applied, it disappears from the upgrade list (it'd require manually checking all 400+ recipes).  A pain, but not THAT bad.

 

No, the REAL problem is that there are several upgrades which replace a base component of the item, and making sure THOSE aren't duped becomes a real pain in the tukus.

 

The MAJOR HEADACHE is when upgrades duplicate each other partially, but with slight differences.

 

And it gets worse from there. :lol:

 

Still, I was able to do it, but I had to make executive decisions along the way. :)

 

(nuking the cost of the upgrade was one of them, BTW, as [checks spreadsheet] 492 upgrades at 3,000 a pop adds up after a while :lol:)

Wouldn't you just need to change the visibility conditions for each enchantment so it requires you to not have that enchantment rather than not having that or the mutually-exclusive one? That would be time consuming to do for all of them but easy enough to knock out apart from that I think
