Mmmm, Dream Warriors...

Pretty sure its a reference to the glam metal band Dokken whose biggest hits in the US IIRC correspond to the 1983-1988 period, so it fits in with the Masters of the Universe / Thundercats era. There was a phrase at the time if you were going to rock out (not necessarily even musically) that you were "rockin' like Dokken*". So "rokken-like-Dökken" just changes the spelling of Rockin' to match Dokken and would be a more elaborate way to say "it's rockin'" or, you know, exciting and good. *I'm not sure Dokken is actually supposed to be pronounced correctly to rhyme with rockin'. Anyhow I do know people at the time did pronounce Dokken to rhyme with Rockin, because I've heard people say they were Rockin' like Dokken before.

I've seen people say its a coin pocket as well, but functionally I too have never gotten that to work. Mind you in the US at least, 100 years ago coal miners would have been paid in company scrip rather than coins, and maybe that made a difference...?

My understanding is that BBCode is considered to be depreciated/old technology by the makers of the board software. Most boards moved to WYSIWYG editors and HTML styling for posts, as I understand it.

Technically, in the forum guidelines there's a prohibition of "Posting frequent, annoying, and/or nonsensical posts", but I think that primarily aimed at stopping spamming in general rather than trying to enforce it against general discussions. I'd think the ideal would be, as much as possible, to use the multiquote function, though.

You know, it kind of bugs me that people don't know what that pocket is (when proctoring I've had to tell people to run their finger through their watch pocket and have them stare at me as if I'd just begun gibbering). And I'm not all that up on the names of clothes and parts of clothes. Now I feel like I need to yell at some clouds or something. EDIT: I also hate when you don't quote a post that will be right above yours, but a page break puts your reply on another page so you have to go back and edit your post so that you preserve the context

Haven't heard of Fire Punch, but have heard only good things about Chainsaw Man.

I'm enjoying it. Its definitely pretty 'out there' at times, but I like the characters and I'm very curious about how the central mysteries are going to play out.

Using the theme song on this video reminded me that in the MISSION: IMPOSIBLE episode, "The Seal" (Season 2, Episode 9), the team actually uses a trained cat to help them retrieve some purloined Jade.

I'm currently reading Glepnir by Sun Takeda and any of the collections of Junji Ito's work. I have the first trade of Berserk by Miura on my 'to read' list. I'm probably going to pick-up Umezu's Orochi that Viz is reprinting since I liked (?) Drifting Classroom.

I was joking really, but FOTNS is basically using the Road Warrior / Mad Max 2 design aesthetic and putting it on burly anime manly-man martial artists. So lots of leather, shoulder pads and mullets (and chaps and mohawks, cloaks and wild hair).

Hmm, hadn't heard of Redline really. Or at least never watched a trailer for it. *watches trailer* When will companies learn that "from the studio that brought you ... Ninja Scroll..." isn't the recommendation they think it is? 😆 There's an interesting design aesthetic going on; not sure anything I see in the trailer really makes me want to rush out and see it though.
