  1. ∴ Scourge of God PS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> High King of Huns, Attila, in short. Thanks Meta.
  2. If you think that's bad, wait till you see his mug. And posting history, haw haw haw
  3. I can't say about the Gold Editon(I had to buy it too) yet since I've just started my first game. On the other hand, RTR 7.0 is coming for 1.6 and that's strictly BI. Hypaspistai("shield-bearers") are the elite of Macedon and Successors(Ptolemaics, Seleucids and Bactria) and it shows. Huge armor, gigantic attack rate and two hitpoints, plus they run fast and tire slowly. Pretty much the only good way to take them down is a ton of pila and/or arrows at their back and then pinning them down with heavy infantry and several cavalry charges to their flank. You can't really route them, but they will die eventually. Since you are Rome, killing them shouldn't be that hard, compared to some factions that don't have so versatile units. Legionaries are heavy infantry and ranged units in one package. And their defense is ginormous. Just imagine what kind of pain in the ass is killing them as something like Pontus or Armenia, who don't have heavy enough infantry and must field specialised ranged units to deal with them or take lost of losses.
  4. "You can't kill the Messiah." :D
  5. Allan, why do you even bother? It's Visceris.
  6. Too shiny and too fabricated. I like a more organic and comic look.
  7. I can take lactoface on, but he must take his cohorts with him. Otherwise it will be a massacre. Well, it will be massacre still, but at least I retain my fair chap-fame.
  8. Is that game worth the zots?
  9. Oh, right. A lot of Giraud among other writers is translated to English though. Just read his Wikipedia file.
  10. Yeah, it will. I had the habit of garrisoning armies on the frontier in forts. And guarding those damn bottlenecks and landbgridges.
  11. Yeah, me too. One can wish, you know.
  12. Did those sacred men have upgraded weapons and two bronze chevrons of experience? If so, then they are always there, like Gauls always have a unit of experienced chosen spearmen in Alesia. For the record, playing as Vandals and...vandalising Italy is so much fun. And hard, post-Constantinean Roman troops are hard buggers. No matter, they are all arrowfodder for my lords of the steppe.
  13. I say! You are quite right.
  14. You know, it's not like I bought those comics. Or any comics I've listed in these threads. Except Marvel 1602, I had to buy that lovable hugmuffin. If you happen to find a decent source for foreign comics(try Turkish, Spanisn and Belgic too), look for Giraud or Moebius. That's some good stuff.
  15. Wait till you get Olli. :">
  16. Too bad for you then.
  17. Yes! Vote me for your absolute and fair ruler! GIVE A VOTE UNTO MUS AND I GIVE FREE T-SHIRTS UNTO YOU!
  18. Have you ever modded anything? Oh, and you migh consider erasing your personal information(phone and email) from that resume you posted here. Can't be too careful.
  19. Finoavar? Canocent?
  20. So was the comic. I mean, if you do like French comics. I mean, other than Moebius, who is getting more and more "western".
  21. Well, there's the possibility of faction change. I think there's a mod that allows you to change faction during play. Then you can just send the save to the next fellow and he plays his turn, etc. Or do it like some crazy AAR-guys do and play till faction leader dies and then give the save to the next fellow.
  22. Try Ground Control 2. The good stuff of GC, but it's possible to save and get new units on the battlefield.
  23. What constitutes an important city? Well, most major areas have more than one walled city and all but one faction start with a walled city so no one is seriously nerfed. Important cities tend to be bottlenecks, major trade hubs and historically important cities, like Pergamon, Sinope, Rome, Alesia, Osca etc. But greece is not a siege fest, neither is Italy, the devs weren't Romecentric or Greekcentric, so the amount of walled cities are well spread out over the map. It does change the focus a bit when you can conquer and lose several in a turn, but that only happens in truly major offensives, since it's better to set a decent garrison to a newly conquered province and began building auxilia than devastate the same province by expanding too quickly and leaving it relatively open for several counterattacks. Another thing you tend to do is trying to conquer important cities the first. Which is actually historical. It's great, I tried Pontus(which is next to Seleucids and my fav faction in any game) and wasn't instantly run over by Gray Hordes even though I thought I'd be. The thing is that the same problems you have, the enemies tend to have too, so big powers are continuosly harassed(Seleucia and Ptolemaics, Greece and Rome and Macedon, etc) and leave a relatively open playground for the smaller factions. Except Armenia. It's freaking wacko. Try it out, you can run Metronaval on the side of Platinum, it's a separate "install".
