  1. I don't know about that. Apparently KOTOR 1 was considerably buggy when it was released, and it was only after they did the 1.02 patch that a lot of the problems [especially memory leaks] were fixed. I bought it after the 1.03 patch was released, so I don't know first hand, but there's plenty of threads on Bioware's site for looking up KOTOR bugs. The storyline is probably 'better' than TSL because Bioware had no constraints with where they could go storyline wise. Obsidian had to make a game that fit within these constraints and also meet the outlandish hype and expectations that everyone was putting on the game. They also had an extremely limited timeframe to do it all with. In short, TSL suffered from the shackles that LA put on it, not because of OE. OE would have done a lot more if they'd had the time to do it right. If you don't like TSL, then sell your copy and go back to KOTOR 1.
  2. The Dark Side is strong in this thread...
  3. Agreed. I bet that there were other games released with unfinished areas that haven't gotten nearly this amount of attention. If they script out a whole level, and then realize that it's taking the plot in the wrong direction or need to change something for game's sake, then they should take it out. Games have to be focused to be enjoyable; sometimes there can be too much of a good thing. The tree will occasionally blind you to the forest, you know? I'm not saying that Obsidian was right to cut all of it, but most of it would have been a distraction from getting TSL done on an already incredibly tight schedule. The HK quest / droid factory would have been nice, but it really didn't have all that much to do with the main quest. No other NPC had a quest that involved, except perhaps Mira - and she only has one because her path and the Exile's paths are intertwined. You could point to Bastila's holocron quest or Mission's brother, stuff like that, but those quests are tied into other stuff that you already have to do, unlike the Droid Factory. In any case, I'm tired of hearing all the complaining too. It reminds me a lot of all the people griping about 'Project New Jersey' when no one even knows what it is or what type of game it will be. There are already people petitioning Obsidian to do this or do that! Get a grip, people!
  4. Let's just ignore the troll. BTW, paid 40.00 for my copy @ Best Buy the day it was released.
  5. Agreed. I'd rather have a bugfixed game than a buggy game with hi-def music and video. Especially since they still haven't fixed some of the major bugs.
  6. Shouldn't Kreia be called Darth Traya? Or is that Atris? Just trying to clarify something for me. I voted for Kreia.
  7. I noticed that too. Nice to know that my eyes weren't playing tricks on me after all.
  8. Everyone repeat after me: There will be no extra content patch. How many times do we have to ask and get the same freakin answer before it sinks in? Sheesh! The graphics/music patch is supposedly ready, they just need to build it...whatever that means. John Morgan or one of the other devs confirmed that; if I can find the link I'll post it. Since this is only the first patch, I would assume there will be more coming. I played through to the Military Base on Telos last night, and still ran into a few glitches - the TSF walked through the door in my Citadel Apt. and T3 still flies around the screen after I stop moving him on Peragus; there's enough still left to be fixed that I can't imagine LA letting everything go, if for no other reason than to cut down on some of the hate email and tech support calls that they must be getting. And if someone can help me with that .2da edit that Master Dahvernas was talking about, it would be greatly appreciated. I'd like my vid card to use all 256 MB RAM instead of the gimpy 32 that TSL is set to. It probably ought to be a thread in the Tech Support forum, too. *hint, hint*
  9. You know, I never heard grousing like this for any other console I ever played - going back all the way to the NES. Are people forgetting that those consoles and games had bugs too? I don't think I've ever heard any grousing about the PS2, come to think of it. But since I don't own one, I really don't care. And that's my .02
  10. This may be the first forum thread that I've ever been on where I laughed so hard that I cried. You all rock!
  11. I hate dial up internet access. Did anyone else notice that Obsidian misspelled 'released' on their home page? They have REALEASED instead.
  12. I am continually impressed at how many people think that griping at Obsidian is going to help the people who play their games. I'm sure that reading lots of posts about how much 'Obsidian sucks' really inspires them to go out and do a great job on KOTOR 3 or the patch or whatever they're working on in the KOTOR Universe now. It's a good thing I'm not a moderator. 'Nuff Said.
  13. If I remember correctly, a developer named John told us that Obsidian asked LA for permission to fix numbers 1, 2, and 5. LA said no. End of Story. It's not happening, people...at least not by LA or Obsidian. Get a grip.
  14. Yes, Virginia, the dead horse is truly beaten down now. I give this thread a whole day before some mod locks it. Not that I blame the mod or Obsidian. Threads like this are why our good buddy Feargus nearly closed the forums on us.
  15. No kidding. I thought I was buying a new computer when I went shopping for my new video card. Shouldn't this be in the Tech Support thread?
  16. Guilty as charged... although all I had to do was get a new videocard; I'm still trying to decide on the RAM...
  17. When you spend more time deciding on a character build than it takes to actually build the character... When you skip lunch to work on a character build... When you run the TSL update program every morning before you go to work in the hopes that the first patch is finally out....
  18. Ditto. *goes back to lurking in the corner*
  19. Carth. Not even a tiny bit of doubt on that one. Except I don't have the cool beard thingy going on... anyway. Maybe a little of Jolee and Atton thrown in too.
  20. With a chainsaw Seriously, there's a mod over at PCGamemods that allows you to make Sith and Jedi robes at a workbench. The website is http://www.pcgamemods.com/10925/ - kudos to RedHawke for making that for us all!
  21. And it definetly gives you lots of Dark Side points to boot...I know you don't want to look like our pal Sion
  22. Bingo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> John- Thanks for the update. You've restored my faith in Obsidian. I shall go back to waiting quietly in the corners now
  23. Two thoughts- 1. They are copyright focused and see this as a threat. They won't mind using tweaking sabers and things like that, but this looks like a lot like a rewrite and I'm sure someone at LA will have a problem with that. Besides, LA seems to be a real punk about 'their' property. God forbid the fans have a say... 2. They like this idea because they don't need to work as hard at making it perfect for release - after all, the fans will fix it, right - and see this as a shadow project that they can indirectly support in order to sell more copies. So I don't know which way LA will fall. Announcing the project on Obsidian's site probably wasn't that great of an idea, but you've still got my support!!
  24. @ Jeremiah- Yes, I got that too. I don't know why they're labeled Royalist Soldiers, unless the general bought them off or something...may be that will be fixed in the patch? I dunno. @ everyone I wasn't offended by the error message I got when Handmaiden died; I thought it was downright funny. With everything else that can go on in TSL, a weird error message is the least of my concerns.
