Amusing Glitches
Can't Think Of A Name replied to Darth Jebus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I did that too! Did you catch the error message on the screen when you click on her portrait? It's something like "Your game is sooo broken." or something like that. That's when I realized I had really screwed my game into the ground. Fortunately, it was the third time I'd sparred with her and I was going to turn her to a Jedi, so I just reloaded it. *phew* If I can, I'll get the entire message and put it up. -
Where are all the lightsabers?
Can't Think Of A Name replied to Rhl's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Personally, I like it better this way. Lightsabers are supposed to be very special and rare - not like getting a hold of a blaster at the local K-Mart. Just my .02  -
ATI video cards with KotOR2
Can't Think Of A Name replied to Pulverizer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Bifack- Had the same problems with KOTOR 1 AND 2. that makes me think it's a game engine thing...learned to live with fixing the gamma all the time Someone else's help would be greatly appreciated! Have had all the other problems relating to the drivers with KOTOR2; noticed that KOTOR1 was having problems as well...I'm fairly sure it's the 'new and improved' ATi Drivers. Will try the 'disable vertex...' and the driver rollback tonight. Thanks for all the help, gang! Oh, BTW - specs are: Dell Dimension 4100 1.0 Ghz 384 MB RAM Sapphire / ATi 9600 256 MB 6 gig free on HDD  -
Meh. I must be the only 27 year old here Anyway, purchased from Best Buy 2/8, shipped 2/9 [4 days ahead of schedule ], Received 2.14 [used cheap USPS shipping - 1.50 USD] I'm happy I'm also guessing that Bastila hasn't showed up because she got her copy too. I dunno about 8, though...maybe 12? j/k

Gamespy PC review
Can't Think Of A Name replied to Meshugger's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What, you aren't going to play Daikatana? <snicker> As for the first screenshot, I think that it's from from Knights of the Very, Very Old Republic. Between the problems with the ending that I keep hearing about and the bugs described in the review, I am *very* concerned. I know that it's a lot easier to do coding for the X-Box since it's a 'closed' system [well, theoretically] that doesn't have as many variables as the PC's do, but an awful lot of what he was saying sounds like stuff that should have been picked up ages ago - hell, they should have been covered in patches for KOTOR1 - and you can't blame Obsidian for the KOTOR 1 problems. Shame on LucasArts. Obsidian, I think, would have fixed this up and then released it later, when it was ready; I'd gladly take the wait for a terrific game without as many bugs. I'd wait until next Dec. for them to get it right...LA, on the other hand, wanted to get this out the door quickly and it shows...why else would they cut the development staff after the X-Box was released and before the PC Version was finished? Between the dropped balls [especially the non-announcement of 'going gold', the confusion with the fans as to the actual release date, and the website that was barely updated after it was released], it's a little hard to blame just Obsidian for this mess. I hope that when I pick this game up that I'm wrong. AI bugs can be annoying and overcome, or they can absolutely wreck what should have been a great game, and that's what seems to have happened with KOTOR2. Shame on Lucas' Empire - first for bleeding fans like pigs [star Wars.com's Hyperspace], then for pushing bad product out the door and intending to 'fix it later' - whenever that is. That's just bad management. -
Gamespy PC preview

I very highly doubt that WarriorGSI will be able to respond to any of our questions, especially on an open forum like this; it would invite an avalanche of comments, thoughts and questions either on this forum or via PM that he probably does not have the time or inclination to answer. His job is to write computer game reviews, not look for bugs or answer technical questions from potential customers. I do hope, though that Obsidian is aware of it and has resolved the problem. I'm not trying to rain on our parade, but I just thought that I might try and defend him in case he never replies. But it certainly would be really nice if he did respond! -
Race to store, slapping down my hard-saved cash for it. Race back home, probably breaking several speed limits on the way accidentally. Begin the install Pore over the manual, although I probably won't need to read it at all since KOTOR2 isn't that different from KOTOR1. Start KOTOR2. Play until 12:00 AM Get up at 6:00 AM - play until 8:30, then go to work. Come home and play some more.

Questions to Devs - PC Style
Can't Think Of A Name replied to Hydrogen's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
For what it's worth, I have never had any problems with KOTOR and XP SP2; whether or not it's because I'm running XP Pro remains to be seen. For what it's worth, I've got [important parts only]: 1 GHz P3 384 MB RAM Sapphire/ATi 9600 256 MB Card And I'm OK for HDD space, although I might take Halo off to accomodate KOTOR 2 when that arrives. -
When it is gone gold
Can't Think Of A Name replied to Zach Morris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Is it the 5th, or the 8th? I've seen 2/8/05 on several different websites, and that's the date I'm going by...unless, of course, I go to the store and it's not there -
Good point, Hades. At this point I am absolutely stumped on what the heck the deal is with TSL. I've been checking every website I can, and all I can get is 'system specs are coming soon', or, like Walmart did, putting the KOTOR specs up for KOTOR II. They've listed [correct me if I'm wrong] This bothers me because I've been saving for a few months now for KOTOR II and I just barely meet the requirements for the original KOTOR - I have a 1 GHz P3 [although it keeps telling me I have a 996 Mhz and therefore can't play it <_<], plenty of HDD space, and KOTOR 1 ran fine - of course, having a 256 MB ATi 9600 card and 384 MB of RAM helped too. If I'm going to need a new processor to run KOTOR II because it needs a 1.5 GHz, I'm going to go stick the cash I've saved in the bank and try and deal with my disappointment now instead getting all psyched out about a game I won't be able to play. And since the game is going to be released on 2/8 - which does seem to be the release date, regardless of whatever anyone else is saying - I find LA / Obsidian's lack of information disturbing. Or, to quote Darth Vader- "The Emperor is most displeased with your apparent lack of progress". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Chances are you will be able to play it. It's probably the same as KotOR 1; I mean it is the same engine, etc. Even if the recommeded is at 1.5Ghz you'll probably be able to still play it, just might not be too pretty. This is coming from someone who managed to play Max Payne 2 on a 500mhz . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow, lots of quoting going on. I know that we've come to the general conclusion that the system requirements will *slightly* higher than KOTOR, but it would be really, really nice for Obsidian to throw us all a bone rather than leaving us hanging. I hope that THEY know what the reqs. are! You got Max Payne 2 working on a 500 Mhz??? I'm not worthy!
