  1. I'm liking the way tonight's game is going between the Sharks and the Oilers. It's scoreless, which is a definite improvement over their earlier meeting. And the Oilers top line is keeping the Sharks top line on the ropes. Good job, kids.
  2. Because their GMs like to trade away their draft picks for immediate help?
  3. It's looking like the latest buyer for the Coyotes is about to fail in his attempt. Just jettison the whole franchise into space, already. Except Keith Yandle.
  4. Sam Gagner has been pretty damn good this year so far, too. Except at face offs. I hope this is the year he can bring it all season long. Yakupov has some exceptional talent around the net, that's for sure. It's still pretty early, I'm hoping he develops some chemistry with Hemsky. When Yak starts to get more adjusted to the NHL game, I could see him and Hall swapping spots occasionally. Also, Shane Doan plays pretty cheap some times.
  5. Yeah, Philly will get at least ten wins. At least.
  6. At the pace he's at now, Joe Thornton may very well win the scoring title this year.
  7. And the Oilers pull out a win against LA in one of the weirdest games I've ever seen. Nail Yakupov may have a great season.
  8. I think I made it five episodes into the River. The bit with the doll head on the monkey freaked me right the **** out. But the acting on that show was pretty atrocious, so I quit watching. I'm on episode four of season one of Blake's 7. It's really, really dated, but the storyline so far is pretty good.
  9. And Calgary is not. That's awesome.
  10. I'm happy with the win. The Oilers looked a little out of it in the first, but got better as the game went on. Eberle has absolutely sick hands.
  11. I entered an online hockey pool this year. With the shortened season we abandoned out usual box draft. The draft itself was lame, but tracking your scores daily has been fun. Go Oilers!
  12. I really enjoy Fringe. John Noble is absolutely incredible as Walter Bishop. I haven't caught up with season five yet, but I'm hoping it features more Walternate.
  13. Redden has signed with the Blues, reportedly
  14. I hope Crosby can stay healthy for the full 48 games, but I wouldn't bet money on it. I can't say I've seen much of Gomez since New Jersey used to be in the playoffs every year. Did the game get too fast for him? Did everyone else get that much better?
  15. His contract will still count against the cap for this year, I'm pretty sure. I'm glad the CBA got rid of the burying of contracts in the minors. Make teams accountable for their horrendous decisions. If anyone is to blame for this fiasco, I'd say it's Glen Sather. Gomez and Wade Redden can play tonnes of video games with each other online now.
  16. 48 games in 98 days? There's going to be a lot of injured players this year.
  17. What?!?!? He was only in year five of his two year rebuild!
  18. I hope my Oilers are ready to roll. Our top line has been pretty dominant in the AHL this year, and all of the top six have been playing since the lockout started. The bottom six is a whole different story, though. The Mullet played a few games in the Spengler Cup, but aside from that most of the checkers and grinders have been inactive.
  19. I hate to say it, but I haven't missed hockey as much as I thought I would. Kudos to both sides for removing their collective heads from their asses. Also, fire Bettman!!
  20. Let's see, I don't know where to start. My broken tooth became infected, which meant I spent the better chunk of the x-mas holidays doped up on a ton of advil for the busiest season at work. Literally every dentist office in my hometown closed down until after new years, and I wasn't going to spend my only day off (the 25th) waiting at the emergency room for a dentist to come in on call. I went to a walk in clinic and got a prescription for the infection, which is absolutely brutal on my stomach. Now, with less than two days to go before the antibiotics are done, I start getting a few more of the common side effects, namely a wicked rash all over my body. Then our dishwasher crapped out on boxing day. I bought a new unit, but had to wait for it to be shipped. It arrived today, and a friend and I tried to install it. Unfortunately my old one was wired into the breaker box, with just enough cable to reach the power box underneath. With the new one, the power box is located on the opposite side of the dishwasher, and now there isn't enough wire to reach. I hate electrical work. I suck at mechanical work, but can usually fumble my way through. I hate messing with wiring, though. I'm always afraid that whatever I wire is going to burn down the house or something. Ah well, I guess we'll invite the parents and inlaws over for supper tomorrow and get some better advice on what to do with the damn thing. edit: there were some positives, too. 31 days until a nice vacation in Antigua I barely managed to squeeze onto my sales matrix at work for the year ending. I should be in line for a $5206 bonus before the taxman decides to take his chunk.
  21. I think they have their own category. I did a second viewing of John Carter and The Dark Knight Rises over the last few days. TKDR still put me to sleep in the first hour, but the second half was somewhat better. And I still like John Carter. And I finally finished the last two episodes of BSG. The fourth season didn't wow me too much, except for when they found . Overall, I was pretty impressed with the series as a whole. Saul Tigh grew on me ever so slowly. Didn't care for him much during season one and two, but by three and four he was just about my favorite character. I think next up on my que of things to watch is the final season of Fringe, and possibly The Prisoner.
  22. I thought the first Kill Bill was an excellent movie. The second one needed less exposition, and more Pei Mei. Basterds didn't do anything for me, except to showcase how great of an actor Christopher Waltz is. I know Django is 15 minutes short of 3 hours, but aside from the last ten minutes or so I didn't mind. The KKK scene was hilarious.
  23. I just came home from watching Django Unchained. Very solid film. I was a little put off by the theatre giggling every time the n word was used, though.
  24. -31 here. Earlier this morning it was a nipply -38. It's supposed to warm up to 20 or 17 tomorrow, but it's supposed to be windy, so that'll probably make it feel just as cold.
  25. I heard on the radio this morning that my hometown is the fifth coldest place in the world at the moment. I can't decide if that's better or worse than being the sixth worst city in the country for crime.
