Vancouver made a weird move trading away Cody Hodgson earllier in the year. Honestly he was a fairly decent player. His depth was missed while Daniel Sedin was out. Zack Kassian has been playing about five minutes a night in the playoffs. Five games are on today. I wonder how much hockey I can watch before I get in trouble from the wife.
-
And Nashville comes through! It will be weird not having the Red Wings in the second and third rounds of the playoffs. But at the same time, it could be interesting to see some new teams advance besides the usual Wings, Sharks and Canucks.
-
With Philly ****ting the bed tonight I hope that the Kings can at least finish off their sweep tonight. My wife is really on my case to shave off my anti-Vancouver playoff mustache. It's pretty nasty.

Get well soon, Marian Hossa

I'm not arguing that, Volo. I'm saying it seems to be getting worse.
-
I thought Theon looked very Gollumesque during the end of the scene on the beach. He just plain creeps me out. Very good episode for the dude playing the young mister Greyjoy.

I was just reading that Daniel Sedin is going to suit up for practice tomorrow. I really hope for the sake of his career that he's not doing so just because his team is down three zip. As much as I'm hating Vancouver this year I must admit that I enjoy watching the Sedins play together. Points wise they're the best tandem in hockey, and have been for a while. Hell, they even made Anson Carter look like a superstar. And if I was Sidney Crosbys' coach I'd be on him for fighting. You gotta wonder where the logic is of having a guy who has had major concussion issues dropping the mitts. I could go on a rant about the lack of respect players are showing each other nowadays, or how you'd need seven figures to get me to do Shanahan's job, but the playoffs are anything but boring this year, that's for sure.
-
Assuming Philly makes it through this round (it's okay to do that since they're up by 3 now, right?) they could be in trouble in the next series. Those goalie stats are horrible! I don't think you can count on your team scoring 5+ goals a night.
-
And Luongo rides the pine for tonight's tilt. It's too bad his team is playing ****ty in front of him.
-
Letting in two shorthanded goals in the playoffs is a recipe for disaster. Oh wait, Vancouver did the same last night too?
-
I bet Giroux gets a call from Shanahan about his little kick in that game. I still think Nashville will beat Detroit in their series. It'd be easier if they could get their power play going.
-
Your reasoning is valid. But let me say this : Fleury, Crosby, Malkin. Aside from Malkin going number 2(heh), would you consider Pittsburgh a joke franchise as well?
-
What sort of criteria are you basing this on, Volo?

saw that hahahaha hilarious. oh and another great night of hockey. A lot of reaction to the tweet has been pretty negative, most of the comments have been 'LA has no class'. But to be honest, the Canucks and the way they play the game is just downright embarrassing. I used to think they were a really talented team, and still do somewhat, but the repeated diving attempts of more than a few players (Kessler and Burroughs are the worst, IMO) are painful to watch.

Weber, yes, not Suter. While not defending his actions, does it not appear Zetterburg had a bit of a high elbow on Suter when he ran into the boards with him? Not that it warrants a turnbuckle into the glass, but I can see Suter getting heated over that. Also, lol at the Kings tweet last night after beating Vancouver.
-
$2500 fine for Suter.

That's gotta hurt. I went to bed early last night. My wife was like "You're not going to watch hockey?". It's hard getting excited for the playoffs when none of your teams are in it. Although that Pens/Flyers game was pretty entertaining, despite some shoddy reffing. I can see Weber getting a few games, especially because it was against a Detroit player. As for the Canucks...Dustin Penner scored? They'd better dress Schneider already.

And Edmonton pulls the horseshoe from its ass and ends up with the 1st pick in this years draft. Again. It's nice to see the league rewarding us for how badly we've sucked since 06-07. I know diddly squat about this Yakupov guy, though.

Rangers v Senators: Rangers in 5. I can't see Ottawa making it out of the first round. Brad Richards will start shining again after a ho hum regular season. Bruins v Capitals: Bruins in 6. Washington has been all over the place all season long. Now, with both of their regular goalies injured, it'll take a miracle to defeat the defending champs. I hope I'm wrong, though. Panthers v Devils: Devils in 5. New Jersey looks like the better team on paper, and for good reason. Florida sees the clock striking midnight on their Cinderella type campaign. Penguins v Flyers: Pens in 7. No Pronger and Briere, while the Pens are icing a healthy squad. This is going to be a knock down, drag out battle. Canucks v. Kings: Canucks in 5. LA has played horribly all season long in front of a great goaltender. I have LA winning one game, then Vancouver pulls Luongo and the backup goalie takes them farther in the playoffs. Blues v Sharks: Blues in 7. I don't know why, but I think coaching is going to make a big difference this series. Although Ken Hitchcoc-k looks like a perv, he's good at what he does. Coyotes v Chicago: Chicago in 7. Phoenix is going to show up for this one and drag it out with their high octane, exciting...oh wait, they'll play the trap and bore us all to death. Nashville v Detroit: Nashville in 6. I'm sick of Detroit winning all the time. Hopefully the Preds can avenge most of their playoff exits over the last few seasons.
-
No offence to Guard Dog, but I was hoping both the Caps and Sabres would get in and Florida would miss the post season altogether.
-
Aww crud the Sabres were eliminated tonight. With two of my favorite teams from the east not making the postseason, I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon with Krookies' team. Go Devils!?! I have no idea who I want to cheer for in the west. What little national pride I have tells me to root for the Canucks, but they play such a cheap, dirty game it makes it hard to root for them.

Going from ninth to third overnight should probably help a fair bit.
-
Not a movie, but I watched the first six episodes of Strike Back. It was pretty entertaining. Production values were pretty high for tv.

I'd say it's pretty amazing that a 19 year old d-man can step right into the NHL and have an impact. I'm hoping the Avalanche don't make it to the playoffs. Maybe the Sharks can earn their spot instead. And I read today that Taylor Hall from Edmonton, who's currently out with a concussion, is going to undergo surgery for a torn labrum. And his rehab is roughly 6 months long. Good to see the Oilers are already starting the 2012-2013 season with someone on the injured reserve.
-
It's nice to see the Oilers string together a nice point streak at the end of the season, but they aren't doing themselves any favors in terms of the draft lottery. I'm really hoping Ryan Nugent-Hopkins can earn the Calder trophy, as Edmonton has never had a rookie of the year. If he would have been able to stay healthy all season long I don't think it would even be an issue.
