  1. And things haven't really panned out for LA with Richards and Carter so far, either. With less than ten games left it's getting pretty damn interesting in both conferences. I find it slightly suprising that only two teams have clinched playoff spots. Also, what happened to Thomas Vanek? He was on pace for a 40-40 season at the beginning of the year. Now he's going to be very lucky if he gets 30 goals.
  2. Ales Hemsky of the Oilers recorded his first career hat trick tonight, after 550 games in the league. Now if Edmonton can just play spoiler for the last three minutes of this Nashville game....
  3. After doing some reading I have a better understanding of the whole Avery situation. He cleared waivers once, but before the team could place him on re-entry waivers a few teams inquired about his services. From what I read, it appears Sather wanted to trade him while he was in the minors so another team could pick up paying what was left of his contract if another team poached him upon re-entry. Although what the Rangers would have to pay for their half of his salary is a joke, I don't see the big deal in Sather trying to get something back for him. And go Steven Stamkos! 50 goals is awesome in todays nhl!
  4. I don't remember where, but I read that the studios usually get a 15% return on foreign box office receipts. I may be in the minority, but I actually liked John Carter better than Avatar. I found Avatar visually stunning but boring as ****, especially with its bloated running time.
  5. John Carter. I thought this was an excellent story. Effects were great. It was victim of a few slow spots, but overall, in my opinion, this was a beautiful film that I'll definitely be purchasing on Blu ray
  6. Gee thanks, I never would have thought to look up an article on the nhl site. He was waived twice this year.
  7. Do you have some sort of evidence to this statement?
  8. I'm pretty sure 29 other teams didn't want him either, Volo. Otherwise he wouldn't have cleared waivers, correct?
  9. I'd say spots 2 through 8 are still up for grabs. There's about three or four teams on the out looking in who could easily squeak into the playoffs with a hot streak. Personally I'd like to see either Buffalo or Tampa get in, although they have about as good a chance as Winnipeg of making it out of the first round.
  10. After shelving this game for a few weeks I'm finally back at it. Just hit level 10 (whoop) with my bounty hunter, and am deciding whether or not to do a few more side quests before jumping into the great hunt.
  11. How's that contract extension working out for you, Ron Wilson?
  12. I thought JL:D was pretty good, as well. I still think that Crisis on Two Earths is the best, with the worst being All Star Superman. What does DC have coming out after this for animated films? I've found most of them pretty enjoyable.
  13. I won't remember today for the non exciting trade deadline. Tonight, and maybe for the only time, the Oilers have the number one power play in the league. Not bad for a team in 29th spot.
  14. This. I just finished watching Stand By Me again. Wonderful film.
  15. And Jeff Carter gets traded to the Kings for Jack Johnson and a conditional first round pick. I give Johnson exactly one and a half seasons before he asks for a trade.
  16. I had my eggs scrambled in a car accident more than fifteen years ago. I still get headaches. And the Oilers pulled out a convincing victory in Calgary tonight. I'm glad I bought a lottery ticket this afternoon! Who thinks Rick Nash is going to be on the move? Todays rumours had him going to the Sharks, and Carter going to LA. Trade deadline days are pretty overhyped. Two dozen analysts on five shows all staring at their blackberries. Weak.
  17. http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/flyers-talk/post/Prongers-wife-Chris-status-very-disheart?blockID=654150&feedID=695 Not a very uplifting story about Chris Pronger and his struggles this season. Could this be karma for being one of the meanest players in the league?
  18. The opening scene Shakes The Clown was pretty hilarious. I was ten years old when Police Academy came out. My parents took me to the theatre and I thought it was teh funneh, but there were parts of it involving a podium that I just didn't understand at the time. My dad told me to be quiet because I kept asking out loud 'what's so funny? What's that woman doing down there?' Ah, to be ten again. Of all the movies I've seen lately ( which hasn't been many) I think my favorites have been Moneyball and Warrior. I didn't think Warrior would be all that great, and I have no use for MMA at all, but I was suprised by how little time it took for it to grow on me. It's just too bad there hasn't been a great golf movie since Tin Cup.
  19. Way to honor Sundin, Toronto!
  20. Damn that was a big right hand.
  21. A $2500 fine seems like fair punishment. Elias isn't a dirty player. As for Gagner, he's been an interesting case study this year. Despite being nearly the smallest player on the team he's been the most willing to drop the gloves to stick up for a teammate, even if he knows he's going to get worked over. And his work ethic has been good most of the year, but a few Oilers fans have wondered if he had lost all of his hockey sense. He sure did play like an ace last night, tho.
  22. Eight ****ing points for the Oilers Sam Gagner tonight. 22 years old, fifth season in the league, and now he ties the franchise record for points in a game. He's been the subject of a few trade rumors this year. I bet his value has just shot up!
  23. Does anyone watch the All-Star game? I always feel like there's something better I could be doing with my time. The Oilers look to have some healthy bodies coming into the system soon. Maybe it'll be enough for the team to rally and finish in 27th or 28th as opposed to dead last...again. I might have watched the Young Stars game if Ryan Nugent Hopkins wasn't recovering from a shoulder injury.
  24. Switched to the Corellian Run server on TOR. This bounty hunter class has been a fair bit more enjoyable than the Jedi I was playing before.
  25. I just picked this up today. From the sounds of this thread I don't want to go P vs P?
