  1. Another Suitcase in Another Hall
  2. How about a story where the other character's identify the PC as the "Chosen One" but it turns out that his campanion was actually the Chosen One all along? I actually like Hades' idea about world without "Chosen Ones" On the flip-side, however, chosen or not there will be someone who stands out and does something spectacular. At the very least, there will be one person who personifies the movement. So, get rid of the prophesy, but the main character will end up being important anyhow. How important and whether he shares the stage with other characters is another matter.
  3. You did an excellent review and you should undoubtedly do more. They're a bit of work, aren't they? :Eldar's nodding and smiling icon:
  4. Good Lord! Bravo!
  5. How the hell can you not know Gromnir? He's been on every BIS board since... I guess way back before IWD1. I think I first read one of his posts in 1998? I genuinely like the guy, but I can't write a review for him. It'd be my luck for him to somehow pop into this thread, see his unsolicited review, and then my thread would bite it as the result of the ensuing flamefest. Anyhow, Surreptishus, cough up a damned review for someone already. Kor, Pixies, Drabeck... even Mothman finally did one!
  6. So you're saying he should receive some T.O.M.B.S. points? hmmm? Also, I'll give you 500 points for writing a review of Gromnir. heh heh heh.
  7. Ah, Kaftan, I see. I don't have any reason to see the discussion in real time if I'm not able to participate in it. I'll read the transcripts along with everyone else.
  8. Can consumers participate in this discussion? In other words, if I actually take the time to visit this discussion, can I ask questions of the design team. I'm keenly interested in NWN2 right now, and that interest shades from good to bad.
  9. I'm double posting. I do it all the time, so no-one be afraid or upset. Is there anyone who'd like to take a stab at a report for one of the developers or one of the moderators? I'd like to read one. Just not write one. hahaha

  11. I couldn't see having him mail the stuff to me. I'm a dandy nobleman. Why the hell would I wear the arsenal it turns out Tarna has stashed around his house. Instead, I invited him to wear the weapons to the party. hahahaha If he does, there will be pictures. Still, you have to admit, that rapier looks pretty damned cool. Buy it for me, Atreides? :Eldar's laughing and winking icon:
  12. Most excellent review. I have a rather unconventional review of DL coming out soon myself. I've promised her it will not be a rant.
  13. The toolset might be a bit hard to implement. Has anyone tried something as ambitious for a console title yet?
  14. I'm currently listening to my brother in law playing the ring theme from the LotR movies on his keyboard. We've been lanning for a while and he plays the keyboard one handed when there's a lull in the game.
  15. Someone owes a report, and I'm not in the shape to do it for the next couple of weeks.
  16. Thanks, Laozi. That made me laugh and I'm not even sure why. Let me see if I can find a picture. Okay, here's the rapier. This is what I'd buy, if it weren't ridiculously expensive at $266: Here is a cavalier hat:
  17. Okay, I hate resurrecting my old thread, but how important is it to have a hat? I found one for $85, but that's almost as much as the vest and pants put together. You guys have given good direction so far, just a little bit more and it will all be done.
  18. Fair enough. You
  19. Hell, the games today were blowouts. I mean, Pittsburg dominated Denver from the very begining and the Seahawks shamed the Panthers.
  20. I agree with Gromnir in that I'd like to see you take a chance, Sawyer. Maybe carry on a bit. Your friends will support you anyhow and your detractors already criticise your work. To fear such irrelevant labels as "cliche" or "hokie" is pointless. To fear failure is unworthy.
  21. Yeah, Denver took a stomping. I happened to be somewhere the game was playing on tv.
  22. Don't forget the Dyksast blade. That was total comedy.
  23. I, for one, was happy with IWD2. It was not the experience of IWD, but it was a sound game. Was it a blockbuster? No, but my understanding is that wasn't a dog, either. It received at least some acclaim from various quarters, including quite a showing from Computer gaming world. I'm not going to bother throwing my hat into the reviewers' ring except to cite the one thing that irritated me about the game: why the hell did you screw mages? Put in more scrolls, dammit! As for your writing, Sawyer, how many people complain about it? Considering that, no matter how good it is, someone won't like the writing in each game on the market. You judge your writing by how many people enjoy it, not how many people don't. A lot of folks don't like Tolkien, but his legacy is keeping his estate in good shape decades after his death. You might not be a Tolkien, but you produce solid, enjoyable writing that is accessible to most players. That's the job of every game designer. Finally, you should be proud of the game. It's ridiculous to deny yourself some satisfaction at designing a game that, if not universally popular, provided hours of enjoyment to sizeable number of players. Unless, of course, you like beating on yourself for no reason. That's not ridiculous, that's just stupid.
  24. Hey, who told you about my padded codpiece? ...And the boots were $40. You know, that might not seem like a lot to you guys, but I tend to deliberate before purchasing most computer games and they're only $50, not $175. The good thing is, the costume is tailored to order by a local merchant in Riverside. I can use it for the renaissance fair, which I have not missed in several years and to which I have not yet worn a costume. Mostly, the fair has been an excuse to get drunk, but now it will be an excuse to don a costume and then get drunk. See, it wasn't a total waste of money after all. If I throw in the rapier for $250, the total cost for the costume items will then exceed the cost of the alcohol for the party. That's a damn shame. I'd have to go out and buy more alcohol.
  25. Ah, I just took inside access from the old reports. Then I made up a meaning for it in my own mind and refused to tell anyone. bwahahaha. As an aside, I've been getting fresh with you for so long, Pixies, it's getting stale.
