bio games, and particularly bio writing, has improved over the years. they seems pretty close minded at the moment, but they has shown examples of improvement. on the other hand, chrisA and the other bis refugees... you know, we thinks that maybe chrisA would benefit from checking out the boards on occasion. doing so seems to have helped the biowarians even if it has aggravated them. the obsidian folks, on the other hand, has not really made strides since ps:t. the same flaws exist... the same mistakes is being made. sure, we liked ps:t on the whole, so the things needed to be improved is less, but kotor2 were quite rife with all those things that were bad in ps:t... some of the hokie dialogues that read like strung together fortune cookie responses just being a single such example. compare bg1 npc character development to kotor. compare fallout and ps:t npc character development to kotor2. if vis is honestly suggesting that bioware has not improved, then he is a fool r a liar. we know he got an axe to grind with bio, and cannot be objective, but even he cannot possibly makes claim that bio writers have not improved. bis/obsidian improvement... *shrug* honestly, we not know who the obsidian writers/designers is getting critical feedback from, 'cause we is honestly amazed at just how little they has changed. they is still so damned cose to being good... w/o improving much at all. tragic. 'course the real point of this response is to again note that vis has a real problem when it comes to bio. weren't no mention o' bio direct or indirect and vis gotta get in his shot anyway. maybe vis should takes a pilgrimage to vancouver, (barefoot in snow

not care how chrisA came to realization just so long as he did. sure, folks has been pointing out the various useful ways to approach clich

alternative answer: God likes his scotch on the rocks. unfortunately, when he first made ice that was as dense as liquid water his ice cubes would always sink to the bottom of his tumbler, and that just didn't sit well with the Almighty. ice cubes is 'posed to jingle-jangle nicely as one gently jostles their scotch, and cubes is 'posed to cool the scotch at top from whence one is actually drinking. so, late on the sixth day God made ice less dense than liquid water, but as it were getting close to quitting time he had to scrap the unicorn and dragon projects... and he did a half-arsed job on the platypus. HA! Good Fun!

explanation we got were related to the shape water molecules. when temp hits freezing, water molecules line up in a hexagonal prism pattern... thinks of snowflakes but on a really large scale. instead of flowing together, the molecules is held apart. *shrug* never really spent much time learning 'bout crystallization... that were more of a chemical thing. in any event, gets a nice picture o' a snowflake and show a child just how much empty space the snowflake takes up with it fancy design and ice is sorta a mass of lots of really tiny snowflakes. liquid water molocules flow together and gets less space than snowflakes crystals. is probbly wrong, but that is how it were explained to Gromnir way backs in early chemistry classes. HA! Good Fun!

reply/quote... how quaint. a mod helping a thread die. we will temporary spare the mess, but no doubt you simply reply/quote again. ain't it lovely how people is willing to label one occupying force "peaceful" and another "illegal," based solely on their politics. sure, the folks who is being occupied not think that the occupation is legal... and we loves strategic use of the word "most" by bw. oh sure, 'course clinton did nasty stuff and killed poor innocent people abroad, but he didn't do as much as bush. HA! and the notion that clinton didn't use the military for blatantly political reasons is so delusional as to not need a response. somebody had better go back and read some newspapers or maybe takes a poli-sci class or two at the local university if they is believing that clinton's use of the military were solely for humanitarian reasons. and as to the panic that terror alerts has caused... they ain't nothing compared to what most of us were feeling as we watched planes slamming into the wtc buildings. the anger we felt as we saw those buildings burn and crumble with thousands of civilians inside is what you is comparing to terror alerts? honestly, you should be ashamed at making such a suggestion... embarrassed. you can take this opportunity to apologize for making such a suggestion... maybe salvage some dignity. how many euro countries support terrorist regimes? yup, the u.s. did too, and when they tried to do something 'bout it, the euros balked. but most of your responses is like this. is not even pretending that your beloved fellow euro hands is clean... but you seem to think that as long as you can point to some American governmental institution as being worse, then you and yours has your sins washed away. hallelujah. life don't work like that son. btw, is lots of games wherein players can control european military force, no? oh, and is more than a few european companies that continued to supply military weapons to iraq in spite of sanctions. the frenchies had mr. claude and lura and the bulgarinas used jeff co, and russian arms dealers were even more blatant 'bout supplying arms to iraq in spite of those sanctions you seems to love so much. yeah, blame the US, but ignore the crap in your own back yard. and one of these days somebody is gonna explain to euros and liberals tht perjury is a bad thing. politicians lie. clinton lied 'bout military and economic activities, just as bush has. politicians speaking half-truths and failing to give full accountings is pretty much par for the course. they get caught and usually their reputation suffers (clinton being a notable exception.) perjury, on the other hand, is illegal. perjury carries with it some pretty serious penalties, and perjury is clearly grounds for initiating impeachment proceedings. As to taking pots out of context and not needing to defend bush

"you can be religious and scientfic it is possible " did we ever suggest the contrary? go down the list of nobel prize winners for physics and pick out the atheists. ain't many. Gromnir is religious. Gromnir has a bs in physics from Cal. there is no tension for Gromnir. HA! Good Fun!

don't be such a fool. why not check and see how often clinton used military power overseas before you make such ridiculous comments. yeah, we has seen some o' your more delusional posts in the military thread... if America throws away it guns then the world will suddenley be paradise, right? HA! blame the terrorists maybe? they is the folks who whipped up a majority of Americans into a frenzy. maybe blame some of the euros? they tollerated and even supported terorist regimes. maybe blame hollywood? heck they makes movies that romanticize war. blame obsidian? they makes games that encourages combat. "Far worse than a generation of kids who think that war is a good method of politics, killing is a justified meaning for improvement, thinks the army rocks bigtime" so, how is this generation different from any other? "and lying will be allowed and can help you forward... " they didn't pick that up from the clintons? bah. bush is an arse, but some o' you clowns is exactly why bush gets so much support. Gromnir ain't a bush supporter, but even we find ourself defending him from your kinda nonsense. HA! Good Fun!

am still posting infrequently at bio, but recently we has noticed that the developers has become... intolerant. as to the board nazis, folks can clear those up in short order. a few weeks o' serious posting by Gromnir and others and the board nazis become much more meek. nazis only thrive if they is allowed to. and truth to tell, this board is little different. looks at the various "newbie" threads on this board. us v. them nonsense. HA! Good Fun!

the last movie Gromnir saw were the newest harry potter flick. the first 1/3 of the movie were a complete mess... disjointed. the rest o' the movie were more coherent, but it still seemed as if Gromnir were getting snippets of story lines that seemed to trail off into nothingness... a bit like what happened with kotor2 as a matter of fact. emma watson (sp?) were horrible. the other kids seems to be competent if unspectacular in their roles, but the girl were just laughably bad. maybe Emma Thompson can sit her down and explain to her 'bout subtlety. on the positive side, visually the movie's dragon were possibly the best movie dragon we has seen since Dragonslayer way backs in 1981. very few complaints 'bout any of the special effects. we get the feeling that this were a movie made for folks who read and liked the book, and unlike previous harry potter movies, it did not stand well on its own. HA! Good Fun!

"Sorry, but if Clinton can be impeached for lying about a blow job, then Bush should surely be impeached for all the danged lies he has perpetrated on this country, and on the world." clinton perjured himself. is a big difference than failing to follow through with campaign promises. don't let your dislike o' bush cloud your better judgment. vote out Presidents you dislike. impeach Presidents that involve self in criminal activity

psuedoscience? there ain't no science 'bout it. not deserve even pseudoscience label. there is a school of thought that mankind brought Gods into existence simply to explain away the unknown. what cause the rain? what cause drought? what is the stars? why does we have fall follow summer, and spring follow winter? for every question we could not answer, we imagined Divine explanations. is intelligent design any different? can't explain the evolution of platypus with science? must be God's will. *shrug* not science. am a religious person, but is insulting to even Gromnir's limited intelligence to be trying to convince us that intelligent design has any scientific basis. HA! Good Fun!

some of you fellas is so full o' crap. am not a fan of console gaming, but even we gotta admit that the graphics improvements 'tween xbox and xbox 360 is major. get similar graphics from our pc? gotta spend at least $250 for the graphics card alone... probably more. on our big lcd hi-def tv these games would be looking fantastic. 'course, if you not got hi-def, then we agree that an xbox 360 probably ain't looking better than your old xbox... and that purchasing a next-gen console would be a waste. response: but Gromnir, its just the graphics that has improved. huh? what did you expect or want from shooters and racing games? graphics is the main thing that the industry has been seeking to improve. as were the point of the initial post in this thread, folks in the know recognize that the differences 'tween ps3 and xbox 360 is not real. the tech superiority of ps3 or xbox 360 that some folks is buying into ain't based in reality. however consumers will eventually have to make a choice twixt hd-dvd & bluray. unfortunately, the current incarnation of the xbox 360 not got the hd-dvd. w/o purchasing a console, we now got 2 xboxes and a ps2. next year at this time we fully expect to have at least one of the next generation consoles, but we gotta leave the choice up to the whim of the fates... as we have done in the past. on a side note, the upcoming crpgs not look any better than the upcoming console rpgs. for the first time, Gromnir cannot say that the pc rpg menu looks like it is offering better fare in the near future. HA! Good Fun!
-
folks buying an xbox 360 now are getting screwed. next year hddvd is gonna be standard on the xbox 360... is analogous to bluray. "Well, so far I haven't seen anything on the X Box 360 that marks it clearly superior to the X Box 1 for the price" really? Gromnir has seen some xbox 360 displays at local best buys... the games in hi-def look mighty purty to us. sadly, they is all shooters and adventure games. nevertheless, we don't buy consoles. eventually, somebody will buy Gromnir an xbox 360 or a ps3... is just the way our universe works. HA! Good Fun!

yeah, compared to what they get at bioware... and compared to what bis/interplay got at similar times. dead. HA! Good Fun!
-
one of these days, people is gonna realize that message boards is for advertising games more than anything else. these boards is dead, and even when kotor2 were released there were only a few posters in this place. so, what publisher wanting to maximize exposure of their game would want these boards to be the home of a major release? and the notion that bio wanted nwn2 moved to their boards... is highly suspect. HA! Good Fun!

each person's experiences will differ. Gromnir had some nasty bugs in iwd, but no ctds. toee, on the other hand, were far worse for us. having a pretty clear recollection of both game's message boards post release, we would say that the complaints 'bout toee bugs were far more numerous and... aggressive. in any event, even if bugs weren't a factor, iwd were a superior game on many levels. story and character development in iwd were far better. artwork and music were better in iwd. iwd combat were a improvement over bg. sure it would have been nice to have the tb and options of toee available but the enemy ai in toee were so gawdawful that the options it had were largely wasted. never finished toee nor iwd2. slowdowns and boredom killed our enthusiasim to finish either of 'em, but iwd were an excellent game, especially when one considers its humble origins. HA! Good Fun!

Hahaha, Ive been a member of this forum longer then youve had pubic hair boy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> a few more posts and Gromnir might suspect that krazy were back. is suitably offensive and crass... but largely accurate too. HA! Good Fun!

"So - what non-anime JRPGs should I check out? Preferably one where I can create a character, or at the very least, identify with the ones provided." that is a good question. we suffered through a couple final fantasy games and one or two others, 'cause folks kept insisting that we were not giving jrpgs a chance. maybe we would be better off trying a jrpg that ain't quite so... japanese. am willing to give it one more go if somebody we trust gots a suggestion. HA! Good Fun!

"No I was not paraphrasing, my comment applied to that as well." am not sure that you even know what you were saying anymore, 'cause you keeps chasing tail. in any event, your continued attempt to argue this silliness includes an ongoing failure to recognize the reality that while there is people who dress in a ridiculous fashion in LA, there is just as many, if not more so, that dress worse in tokyo, and varn's dress in cali would raise just as many eyebrows in socal as it would in japan. so suggesting that the artwork reflects japanese views of other cultures more than their own seems suspect to say the least. heck, wanna review the entire progression you has made on this issue... start with the absence of shirt nonsense and work from there? you has really messed yourself up in this thread. "Is that picture of Varn not artwork?" if you say so. art is such a subjective term. as to japanese game story... you gotta buy into the anime frame of mind to choke down japanese game story. the writers of japanese game stories and anime stories seems to be in a competition with each other to come up with increasingly implausible scenarios, 'cause the more bizarre a plot is, the better it is, right? sure, you might be able to reduce 80% of all anime stories down to Godzilla or Pinocchio plots, but they make Godzilla some quasi-intelligent plant spores that is dropping to earth and is threatening to kill all animal life on the planet... somehow that makes the Godzilla story "kewl." a monster that ultimately man created in his arrogance and his lack of deference to Nature

there is multiple options in ps:t where you can Vow or Promise... those seem to be the most obvious actions that chris a seemed to think were lawful. HA! Good Fun!

show just the head of varn to 100 adults who has no familiarity with anime or japanese gamez... ask 'em to describe. we bet more than 50% would note that the character were female. and'cause it seems like hait needs a little more help... "I think he was just trying to say that some of Japans artwork represents their view of other cultures." he weren't JUST saying that japan's "artwork" represents other cultures. see, you is paraphrasing sp while completely ignoring the second half of his post. naughty. sp also observed that varn wackiness would not be outta place in cali... which we will again note is incorrect. "In either case, whatever he looks like won't matter in the end. In the context of his story he will be an incredibly different person." Gromnir might be able to deal with japanese

Quote peoples entire post when all of it is relevant. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> lord only knows how this makes your initial statement more relevant or accurate. did sp say that anime is a representation/realization of a culture other than their own? sure he did, but try not to distract yourself. he also noted that in California people dress as weird or more wacky than varn. So, when Gromnir noted that such an observation was wrong, how did we mislead? btw, is not like you quoted our entire post neither, is it? you quote relevant. simply quoting an entire post is

"I think he was just trying to say that some of Japans artwork represents their view of other cultures." nope. what he said was: "Go to California and you will see people dressed like Varn and worse. And this isnt just for conventions but every day dress." sp made it abundantly clear that in california varn's dress would hardly be unique

actually, toee worked to troika strengths. after arcanum, the troikanauts realized that nobody currently on the payroll could create interesting characters or write compelling dialogues... so they made a game wherein they believed that such things as character & story development would be a tertiary concern. troika had 'nuff technical guys to build a slightly clunky engine that would encompass much of the minutiae of d&d rules, but they obviously didn't have anybody creative 'nuff to makes up stories or characters, so they remade and old d&d module. they didn't have to come up with new characters or stories and they didn't have to invent a world. license and pre-existing story were actually a good way to go for troika. 'course the troikanauts were forgetting that those old d&d modules were not finished products. even the most detailed tsr module required dm input to be breathing life into the adventure. oops. HA! Good Fun!

ok, first of all, we don't know how this turned into an us v. them thread, but as for Gromnir, we has been to japan twice and loved the culture and people... so our loathing of anime and japanese games is not a condemnation of japanese culture in general. second, we call bs. there is more wacky dressed teens and young adults in tokyo than any other place we ever seen... and no, if you go to california you will not typically see people dressed like varn... save for on halloween, and then only if you is visiting the castro district. HA! Good Fun!
