problem for the gop is the beating taken were most felt among those who put country over party. republican voters did not forgive those who "defected." HA! Good Fun!

so at the very least there is three whistleblowers. there is a second whistleblower who has first-hand knowledge o' the events described by the person who had concerns 'bout trump's efforts with the ukraine. is also a third whistleblower who has raised issues 'bout interference with irs handling o' trump taxes. whistleblowers get special protections, so once the proverbial cat is out of the bag, there is some motivation for other whistleblowers to come forward to offer up evidence. admitted, am not an expert on whistleblower. one time in multiple decades we had even tangential involvement with a whistleblower case, and that were limited to straightforward complaints regarding a federal district judge. quick asides: Constitution doesn't require a vote for pelosi to unilateral start an impeachment inquiry, and am understanding why is political advantageous not to have such a vote. those moderate democrats, particular in the south, is gonna be forced to take a stand, albeit a minor one, on the impeachment issue. nevertheless, is the norm to have such a vote. Congress, when starting inquiries o' clinton and nixon had a vote. the notion trump is interested in stopping corruption and not in seeking to undermine a political rival is clear hokum, and yet it appears to be the repeated refrain from gop. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1180146216790872072/video/1 also, trump is going hard after any republican who doesn't share the suicide pact mentality which is developing regarding impeachment inquiry. romney impeachment? ben sasse and susan collins has made comments which may expose themselves to trump's wrath. even so, can't current see a trend o' gop Congressmen abandoning trump. yeah, the actual numbers o' republicans abandoning nixon were never large, but were essential. am just not seeing the possibility o' something similar at the moment. we don't see pence and others leaving the bunker to save themselves. am thinking the big problem for the gop is that trump's previous bad behaviour has effective inoculated politicians and public alike. what our country deems too much to accept from a President has clear changed 'tween january 2017 and now. this administration needs to be an aberration. regardless o' what happens with trump, the extreme polarization needs end. 2019 cannot be the new normal. New Scientific Discoveries, Part Drei
moon is mentioned in the article... which am shocked to admit we read. "The moon might seem a better candidate for alien spyware than some teeny space rocks; but any given point on the moon is in darkness for two weeks at a time, Benford said. A probe would have to be able to store energy until it could charge in the sun again. Still, he and Davies have both argued for taking a close look at the high-resolution images of the moon sent back by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, just in case something is there." 'course there is an inherent narcissism in the question o' whether aliens bugged the earth. am open to the idea there is other intelligent life in the universe. after all, the cosmos is such an indescribable vast place our imaginations cannot true understand the relative insignificance o' our tiny part in it. can express with math, but true scope will remain impossible elusive. as such am finding hard to convince self that humanity is a singular expression o' biologic evolved self-reflection. similar, am curious what would be the odds o' intelligent life would be moved to bother with the relative insignificance o' our little mudball o' a planet given just how many similar mudballs there must almost certain be. am also not convinced ftl is practical possible given theorized energy requirements, which limits meaningful exploration by those alien eavesdroppers to an extreme small number o' near neighbors. am admitted intrigued by this. no, am not particular interested in using blood as a substitute for egg, but rather the reverse. obviously the flavor produced by egg and blood is different, but is a number o' recipes we use which call for non-human blood both to flavor and thicken. haven't actual tried in any baking however, though there is a pancake recipe... try and convince some folks to try czernina or black pudding is not easy, and doesn't strike us as fair or ethical to trick folks into tasting w/o informing. am curious if we could approximate similar flavor w/o needing use actual blood... kinda get a person's feet wet, so to speak, so maybe they is then curious enough to try the authentic. TV and Streaming: The Thread
thanks to six-degree of separation stuff, and recognizing just how much star trek content there has been over the past decades (heck, dwayne johnson was in tng,) every post on these boards could be somehow linked to star trek. climate change? The Inner Light admitted trump reminds us more o' a hutt from star wars, but analogize to a fat ferrengi works... not to mention fact he were in movies like eddie and zoolander, movies with large cameo casts. and heck, is even more obvious links Trump Supporters Are Confusing LeVar Burton With LaVar Ball, And It's Painful might be a few outliers. sure, lady crimson's gardening posts could get a boothby reference, but am not sure what do do with her korean media appreciation.... then again, am betting almost every korean tv or music star could get linked to lee byung-hun, an actor who were in gi joe films... and so too were the aforementioned rock. every post already is a star trek post, if you try hard enough to... make it so. apologies HA! we got a couple french onion soup recipes. our standard uses gruyère as cheese, and a white wine, a bit o' white wine vinegar and perhaps a splash or two o' sherry. we do make a french onion which uses red wine or even port instead o' white. in such cases am more likely to use appenzeller as is a stronger cheese than gruyère... though is not any cheaper if that is a concern. regardless, starts with the broth. put a little more effort into broth and you end up with a win regardless o' cheese or wine choice. HA! Good Fun!

yeah. the notion a person is getting away with something ignores what we said 'bout negligence being more appropriate to civil. we specific used examples o' doctor prescribing wrong medication or construction worker wrong building scaffolding when explaining texas cop case. make a mistake does not mean you ignore consequences. not go to prison is hardly the same as getting away with something. however, shoot somebody is fundamental different... but less so in USA as 'posed to almost anywhere else. sure, far more people die every year from prescription med mistakes than all firearm crimes and accidents combined. nevertheless, while meds may be as dangerous as firearms, the purpose o' the gun is to cause hurt or death. guns is different, or should be. if you use a firearm on a person, is expected somebody will be severe hurt or dead. prescription drug is not intended to harm. am getting the consternation and the dissatisfaction. we want to get justice for victims, and innocent people being shot and killed feels like a situation where justice is demanded. nevertheless, even when is an option for da to do so, we typical do not criminal prosecute mistake for intent crimes. is rare. is the exception. even the vehicular manslaughter stuff is rare unless is a repeat offender o' dui... or if the incident gets disproportionate publicity 'cause child dies or some other reason. HA! Good Fun!

we explained earlier in the thread how drug use would alter, and have mentioned previous how drunkenness effective replaces intent from a legal standpoint. the intent to get drunk is, for purposes o' the crime, fulfillment o' the state of mind requirement. drunk isn't illegal, but driving drunk is. had requisite intent for the drunk driving criminality. drunk driving results in death o' another is not considered an accident, unless you were slipped a mickey or somesuch. can't check for alcohol level at this point anyway. if weren't already checked... not that would matter 'cause drunk in home is not illegal. HA! Good Fun!

castle doctrine is not particular unique. majority o' states have a version. keep in mind is legal to carry and brandish a firearm in your home anywhere in the country. Gromnir may believe such behaviour is stoopid and prohibitive likely to result in a harmful or fatal mistake, as it did in this case, but such is law. jehovah's witnesses show up to proselytize and you wanna answer your door with your ar-15. is not inherent unreasonable or reckless to do so. more important, and again, we rare criminal prosecute mistake. shooting somebody who leaps outta bushes and growls is reasonable? not in our mind, but do you really wanna imprison a guy for a stoopid mistake? even if mistake is moronic and terrible we general don't criminalize. after all, negligence is ordinary a civil issue. for intent crimes we are seeking justice for folks who got genuine ill will. accidental kill the birthday surprise guy is subject matter for a far side comic as 'posed to fodder for criminal courts. shrug off and say this were yet another example of florida man? am understanding frustration. unsatisfactory. and again, am personal not sympathetic to shooter. investigate and find out there were no growling and leaping from bushes, shooter simple opened the door and shot. fine. gonna csi that and check for footprints in bushes and whatnot? ok. am not sure what the cops did, but am doubting they didn't at least ask questions o' witnesses. so, what else? keep in mind that if a month from now somebody discovers email evidence that the guy from norway were shot not 'cause o' accident but 'cause the shooter were a greenpeace fanatic who secretly loathed his norwegian in-law 'cause o' norway's stance on whale and seal hunting, then is not as if the shooter couldn't be prosecuted at a later date. were son-in-law who died trying to surprise somebody on their birthday. am suspecting cops quickly saw just how tragically perverse and utterly human the situation was. HA! Good Fun!

biggest problem is vocabulary, which am suspecting is not actual accident. if law weren't arcane, then people wouldn't need lawyers... or at least not need as often. words like malice and intent don't actual mean same thing as they do in english. am suspecting lawyers as an industry has created impenetrable vocab just to make themselves indispensable. am thinking we mentioned at least once before how in spite o' fact most o' our acquaintances over recent years has been attorneys, and even 'mongst those we genuine respect, is few with whom we would wanna go to a ballgame. is not that we dislike fellow attorneys, but am finding we have little to talk 'bout with most attorneys save for law... and as am a Con Law guy, we get the kinda dismissive, "you poor soul" treatment from fellow folks in the profession. HA! Good Fun!

florida has the castle doctrine. *shrug* by law it ain't inherent reckless to defend self and home with a deadly force. as such, there wouldn't be much to investigate. were the homeowner under the influence o' illegal drugs? 'less there were some kinda obvious evidence that the shooter had planned this, occam's razor says mistake... accident. at best you maybe find an argument for negligent homicide. we mentioned earlier in the thread how regardless o' how laws is written, mistake and accident do not get prosecution unless there is some other overriding factor. yeah, we punish all kinda people for all kinda minor stuff. nevertheless, in spite o' what recent cases and tv and movies lead you to believe, if cops and da believe is mistake or accident, then any intent crime typical goes unpunished. however, there is a whole bunch o' crimes we punish regardless o' intent. speeding ticket? toxic waste dump? drug possession? most crimes is actual mala prohibita as 'posed to mala in se and it don't matter what the defendant's intent were. confused? probable. is worth doing a quick looksee at mala prohibita v. mala in se if you are genuine curious. HA! Good Fun! ps we didn't actual watch the video, but he is wearing a cal hat, so...

whenever russian "antics" is discussed, be careful o' the unholy trinity o' deflection, false equivalency and moral relativism. whataboutism became a popular phrase meant to identify kinda moral equivalency argument which is effective a frankenstein o' the aforementioned. What Is 'Whataboutism,' And Why Is It Suddenly Everywhere? trump has embraced the old soviet tactics with alarming vigor. is perhaps trump's favorite russian import. The Daily 202: False moral equivalency is not a bug of Trumpism. It’s a feature. am gonna momentarily get philosophical. life is hard. ... didn't say it were gonna be deep or profound philosophy. even so, we stand by our statement: life is hard. a character in vonnegut's slaughterhouse five opines to a psychiatrist, "i think you guys are going to have to come up with a lot of wonderful new lies, or people just aren't going to want to go on living." literal qft. *shrug* converse, and perhaps paradoxical, am gonna suggest that the only things worth living for are the things worth dying for. am not a big fan o' a few o' the folks in our family, but Gromnir would take a bullet for them... most o' them. stuff worth dying for is principle and conviction and emotional. almost never provable. can't prove love. can't prove justice. can't prove God and look at just how many people has died for their notion o' God. sad flip side is that folks take our worth dying for observation and is convinced, with little reservation, to morph it into worth killing for... which is understandable but all kinda disturbing. and no, we haven't been drinking or doing drugs. HA! Good Fun!

impeachment isn't a criminal justice issue. individual articles o' impeachment is gonna be discussed and voted 'pon in house committee, and then entire house of representatives will vote on each article which successful gets outta committee. legal? is wrong way to think 'bout it. the Court is final arbiter o' legal in this country, but the SCOTUS will not intervene and render decisions on the issue o' impeachment, save to acknowledge that they cannot issue a decision regarding impeachment-- is a separation of powers issue and is non justiciable 'ccording to the Court. the President and and the executive branch obvious cannot render some kinda binding rule or finding 'bout impeachment neither. ask what is legal is wrong question 'cause even if there were some kinda legal, nobody but Congress could decide such. hypothetical: nancy pelosi, in an attempt to win over southern democrats and evangelicals, announces she is leaving trump's impeachment fate in "God's hands." to that end, every member o' legislature gets to pick a bingo card marked alternatively yay or nay. instead o' vote on articles o' impeachment, the House holds impeachment bingo on each article of impeachment. bring in that little girl from sweden to pick the bingo balls and maybe have that guy from boxing announce the numbers. legal? doesn't matter if is legal 'cause nobody with authority under the Constitution has power to challenge the issue. HA! Good Fun!

we were talking 'bout juries earlier, so kinda a segue. has been explained to us that older women is notorious critical o' younger women. complete ignores ethnic. defendants and attorneys who is younger women, particular if the younger women is forceful, get extreme slim margin o' error from older women. am suspecting the tendency o' older women to be hypercritical o' younger women is not limited to jurors. am personal not a fan o' harris so somewhat skews our judgment o' her electability. the way she went after biden on the busing issue were calculated and underhanded, particular as harris, when asked day after the debate, admitted she were not necessarily advocating federal forced busing either. that said, while am not a fan o' harris, we can see how she might appeal to independents. in a close election, particular given polarization which exists today, independents is the folks who nevertheless have potential to be swayed, and given their numbers, they would once again determine the winner o' the election. yeah, harris is gonna immediate be dismissed as viable by any 2nd amendment advocate, but as with much o' the country, independents is trending towards increased gun regulation... though 'course such trends only matters in battleground states. am suspecting harris' tough-on-crime record as a prosecutor is gonna play well with those conservative independents who is losing patience with trump but who might similar be unable to vote for bernie or warren. but again, am not a fan o' harris. she has kinda adopted trump's style o' rhetoric which is heavy on making promises impossible to fulfill, promises which nevertheless resonate with the electorate. am not saying harris is as bad as trump, but am not wanting to see appeals to fear and ignorance becoming the winning strategy for Presidential candidates. call us provincial. try and figure out juries, we dare you. the jury, for all intents and purposes, didn't believe the cop's excuse that she were in her own apartment. a ten-year sentence seems kinda anemic if you are convinced the off-duty cop's actions weren't the result o' accident or mistake. HA! Good Fun!

so? compare individual benefits o' occupied v. unoccupied-but-nevertheless-paid-for ignores fact is better to have more rooms being rented as 'posed to less. again, full occupancy and non-fungible rooms is gonna be factors, but rare is hotels, particular trump hotels these last couple years, full booked. hotel rooms is, for the most part, fungible. precluding full occupancy or penthouse suite situations, pay for an unoccupied room is gonna be a boon for the hotel owner. bob shows up at front desk and wants room 2112 and only 2112. will not stay at the hotel unless he gets 2112? possible. unlikely. 2114 or 3112 will likely be just fine for most bobs... and considering how business has been down at many trump owned properties... Is this news about Pillars 3?
Gromnir replied to draego's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)more basic is stuff described weren't in fact foundational tenets. poe were the first game o' a new ip. axiomatic that only so much could be added to poe, or any other game for that matter. subsequent titles in an ip invariable add features. again, am stating obvious. avoidance o' multiclass wasn't a foundational tenet for poe so much as a concession to pragmatism. were not enough resources to do multiclass in poe with so many classes. converse, an arguable foundational tenet from poe which were abandoned in the sequel were no bad builds. however, were impossible for developers to simultaneous add multiclass and retain no bad builds in earnest, though such a goal were still aspirational. poe2 limits on customization o' individual classes actual decreased the accidental failure rate o' single class builds in poe2, but from the start o' development, the obsidianites acknowledged that multiclass would create trap builds for the unwary or ignorant. heck, is again arguable that maximizing customization o' classes were if not a foundational tenet of poe, at the very least it were a goal. the developers never abandoned the belief that no bad builds and maximizing class customization were worthy goals, but once again pragmatism demanded its due. multiclass or ___________ were the oversimplified and repeated binary choice, and developers chose multiclass. purchasers wanted multiclass. original plan for poe2 multiclass were to do similar to d&d 3e with free multiclass choice at every level-up. a few boardies observed how such would almost certainly lead to insurmountable balance issues... which it did. that said, the reason why poe2 has a more limited multiclass scheme than d&d 3e is 'cause the balance notions which were at the heart o' no bad builds philosophy remained even after no bad builds were sacrificed to make way for multiclass... so either/or choice is not even as simple as we described. as such, would be more accurate to say that while no foundational tenets were abandoned after poe, concessions were made in an attempt to meet player expectations and desires. is also worth acknowledging that in poe we got classes in spite o' fact josh and other obsidian folks were not favoring a class system and we ended up with vancian casting in poe even though the original poe plan were for abandoning such. why did we get vancian in spite o' fact the developers thought per encounter were a better option? 'cause there were a flood o' nerd rage when it were announced vancian casting were out for poe. foundational tenets? not sure they exist in any concrete sense. HA! Good Fun!

a high ankle sprain (grade 3) can take longer to heal than a break. 6-8 weeks for ordinary break and as much as 3-6 months for a high ankle sprain. is such a bs diagnosis w/o context. is just one reason we quit playing college football. come at us with a needle and pills 'cause our sprain hadn't healed enough in a couple weeks? fudge you coach. HA!
