  1. I don't think it's as much Atton doesn't want to talk to you, as scripting in general from that point onwards is buggered, expecting that variable to be set. Symptoms may vary, but the game becomes impossible to finish. However, I can't say for sure, as I never ran into that particular bug (just a dozen other, not so game breaking ones). No way would I voluntarily give my gun to a bunch of girls (Han Solo syndrome)
  2. Frankly, reading the latest news (as of a few hours ago), with stock markets plummeting, commodities too, I would probably start considering canned tuna a viable investment for a post collapse society. Only half joking
  3. Sweden... everything has to be regulated through systembolaget Speaking of amusing science, Lego is sending three volunteer "astronauts" (Legonauts?) on the Juno mission (Lego in space)

I never understood how people could live as contractors... Not so much the time that is spent working hard on projects, but the uncertainty between projects spent searching for the next project. Regardless of how good you are and may be in demand, the one time where it is really inconvenient, the timing will suck, Hey, I just bought humble bundle 3, I've got more indie games than I can throw Goo at

Volunteer fire department? It might just be my imagination, but you've seemed more grumpy than usual lately. EA not the career move you'd hoped for?
  6. Steam rather reluctantly because it's the only platform for launching FO:NV , although it's in offline mode by default. I have nice file shredders and real world physical document shredders which I use regularly. I use google for searches. Yes, I know they do profiling on just about anything. Were you thinking of google analytics which just about every second website is hooked up to? In that case, NoScript blocks it. As for cookies, I allow them where it's convenient (like these forums), for the rest, there are disposable virtual machines. Paranoid? Maybe, don't know. I give out info on a need to know basis

Just a guess... you're an introvert? Got the confirmation email that my Cthulhu stuff has shipped. Can't wait to get my own tentacle and cultist singalong texts
  8. Have you tried the suggestions in Hassat's post above? Most reliable "fix" is really to use a save before the initial dialogue on Telos Academy and not pick the surrender peacefully option.
  9. Whoa, that was good I don't know if anybody remember ? But apparently somebody besides me wondered what the heck a guy like that ? Not what you would expect
  10. Become a Mormon and marry all three. Problem solved
  11. It is also increasingly becoming a data mining tool. All for the improved customer experience of course...
  12. ...and nobody said anything, because it didn't affect me. When they started demanding that your webcam was on all the time, so they could watch your behavior while playing, nobody said anything, because it didn't... etc. It's just as much about moving borders and thresholds for what is acceptable.
  13. Aborigines became citizens of Australia in 1967. Before that, they were classified as 'Flora and Fauna'. Before that, there was the stolen generation, attempts to 'breed out' the 'aboriginesness' of people etc. Not exactly a muster example of a tolerant, multicultural society.
  14. But what if - and I'm simply speculating here - some eastern European woman wants to show me something artistic? Wouldn't NoScript disable that? By default, yes. You can however change settings on a site by site basis, how much and which scripts you'll allow to run. I've got it off by default and make exceptions for sites like youtube etc. You can also fine tune it by allowing some websites to run scripts only for the current session, i.e. being 'off' again next time you visit.
  15. Firefox with 'NoScript' is your friend. Wave goodbye to Flash

Glad you finally got a job dude, hope you're enjoying it Hey, sounds like one of my first "regular" jobs (as in 60-70 hour work weeks, paid no less), doing pretty similar stuff, except the computer were bigger, despite being called "mini computer", and slower. That was like 25 years ago. Keep it up and you'll end up like me, Kaftan Took two weeks off from work. My first real break (as in more than 4 days off) in a year and a half. Procrastinated a bit the first few days. Then finally picked up painting both my Warhammer and WH40K armies, giving the garden a bit of love and care (and uncontrolled chemical warfare against the weeds) and lastly but not least, going up against the mighty Aussie bureaucracy in the battle to get the license plates and registration on my motorcycle changed from the previous state to the current state. I swear, it's easier to move to a different country than from one Aussie state to another
  17. Radiation is a good preservative for vegetables. They are easier to find in a dark kitchen too

Curses on whoever posted the link to the Tentacles song somewhere Been listening to a number of the songs from the various musical and Chtulhu Carols albums. Awake Ye Scary Great Old Ones Found a link to their website somewhere and ordered the CD's. Actually, I ordered the bundle just to get the holiday tentacle to hang on a fireplace
  19. Bought the latest humble bundle... powering up my new games Loading... Coming from a time where chosen ones were REAL chosen ones! No walkthroughs necessary, just true grit (and plenty of lives) Haven't had this much fun in quite a while
  20. Sounds like they reinvented "Eidolon" and "Rescue on Fractalus" (obscure references with meanings hidden for anybody but true geeks)
  21. Presumably, although the game actually allow you to substitute killing with sneaking in a number of places. Heck, some things in the game can only be done by being sneaky. Oh, and keep an eye out for the UV Index, too much sunlight is detrimental to your health
  22. No map needed... 1) Find neck 2) Bite Ok, so there is a bit more to it. VMBL's journal entries usually have all the information you need
  23. A bit of last minute pruning and editing, since somebody missed the 'stop' sign. Not claiming to know what goes on underneath those fluffy bunny ears of his, but it's probably a good guess

Start of old thread End of old thread I've been playing 'Gish' lately. One of the indie 'Humble Bundle' games for which they later emailed me Steam codes. Cutest little tar ball around.
