  1. "What more can you want?" How about being able to have an ogre with a bazooka as a main character? Now that would be cool. Looking forward the expansion. To the OP - simple really. Did you enjoy and if so do you want to play more POE? I'm ok with the ending as is - it's the story of the Watcher. I'd hope that if there is POE2 that it would be with a new character and that they could deal more with the back story regarding the gods then. Generally agreed, although I'd prefer they go with something less cosmic for PoE2. To make a comparison, it's sort of like how Persona 3 set the high watermark in terms of scale for that franchise, such that it's virtually impossible to ever go bigger without undermining the setting's foundations; that, in turn, has let them tell (comparatively) smaller stories without much serial escalation, since the truly foundational conflict has already played out. PoE reveals the truth behind some pretty important mysteries surrounding Eora, and I think that sets the stage nicely for some smaller stories. That's a lie and you know it. Yes, insult not just my opinion but also me, personally, on something inherently subjective. That'll make you sound reasonable. NWN's OC was a sloppily executed mess of fetch quests and fantasy cliches. This is a fairly common opinion, which is why I feel comfortable tossing it offhand. You are welcome to dispute that opinion, and obviously the consensus on it doesn't make it some kind of objective fact; enjoying NWN's OC is not a personal fault. You are allowed to have fond memories of things that other people think are bad. Hell, you're allowed to have fond memories of things you think are bad. But those fond memories don't make them somehow magically, objectively immune to criticism. For the record, I don't fault Bioware for NWN's garbage OC - they were busy with other things, and the OC was clearly meant as a generic sampling of what the toolset could do. But when I compare it to their (still decidedly mediocre, but much improved) later offerings in the expansions, or especially to fan modules (like Pig Farmer, or Tales of Arterra, or anything by Stefen Gagne, to name a few personal favorites), it's difficult for me to say anything about the OC other than that it stinks. But yeah, the UI was pretty solid. BW has always been good about that. Got to say I have really fond memories of NWN OC. Not that it was an awesome story, but still it's what happens when you view something through nostalgia tinted glasses. To be fair, there is something like that with all the old IE games, though it's not as obvious as with NWN. Mainly because they were stronger stories. They have dated well overall, though. Certainly much better than most games of their age, and many newer ones!
  2. Now that I think about it - how about an Ogre ranger as a companion!

  4. Well speaking as a SJW, "Way to go dev's that was good!" To OP, please god, no and no... just no. As people have said, lets try and keep classy. "Spare me your juvenile wit!"
  5. Soon™ strategy is something that has worked very well for Blizzard. It is vacation season and Obsidian don't have dedicate community manager(s) for PoE and this expansion isn't anymore part of their KS, but more traditionally published product. Which means that they probably will mostly give information about it through press releases (which they already did quite much with PoE itself).Could work for blizzard, I don't really follow them. I loved the Warcraft games - in fact "Orcs and men" was one of the first computer games I played. I'm still waiting - probably in vain, for a sequel to the "Reign of Chaos, Frozen Throne" games. But MMO's leave me cold, including it must be said Dragon Age Inquisition. Back on topic, it really is not a major issue to communicate with your customers. I am not suggesting they hire someone specifically for the job. Just give a date - it's not particularly difficult, complicated or time consuming.
  6. NW2 is great, in particularly Mask. My issue is that so far Obs reminds me of trying to talk to a young kid. "How was your day?" "Fine." "When are you going to do your homework?" "Soon." Seriously unprofessional. Just give a date - be conservative by all means, but give a date, specially as people have already payed for the damn thing.
  7. Yeah - just a date - "soon" is meaningless and unproffessional. I sure as hell don't tell my clients "soon" Just to confirm, I don't care if it's delayed - from a management side just look at what needs to be done - be conservative and then add on a week or so to address the problems that will undoubtedly come up. I'm ok with anything from 1 week - 4 months - just give a date! Especially as I have paid for it.
  8. Must say I find the dev's lack of information regarding a date for the expansion/patch really strange. Most people seem to just want a rough date whether it's in a week or a couple of months. Also seems a really bad business decision to keep you customers in the dark. Just be honest and upfront and give a date - from a marketing point of view that's good if nothing else as it would build some suspension. But to say soon is just odd... and bad business practice.
  9. Please guys, (Luckman and gromnir) why don't you get married already? It's long past the courting stage...
  10. It's not strength at all. It takes a bit of imagination - but if you take a barbarian and a wizard who both have 18 might - it does not mean that the wizard is as strong as the barbarian, rather might in that case refers to his power to cast spells. I can see why Obs chose this, but it is confusing, particularly if said wizard picks up an axe - then presumably he would be as strong as the barbarian? I don't have a huge issue with the abilites but they do need to be fine tuned. If I were Obs I'd move spell damage to resolve or intelligence and keep might for melee damage. In fact resolve would make perfect sense for spell damage, because it currently makes no sense that it influences deflection. Bottom line the way they envisaged the abilities is fine, but what needs to be changed is what ability influences what stat. Shouldn't be that difficult to do. Not asking Obs to land a probe on a comet - or send one to Pluto.
  11. Wish Obs would be more forthcoming really... "Soon" frankly doesn't cut it. Could mean next week, next month or in a couple of months. Way to go devs.
  12. Case of art mirroring real life perhaps. People are people regardless of race, what does change is culture. Personally I think Obs did a good job with the different races. In skyrim, for example, there was no difference between the different races, except maybe a few snide comments. I don't have a problem with that. What I would have a problem with is if there was no difference between the cultures.
  13. Nope, no chance. And I actuallly prefer it that way. If your goal is perfect stats, you might as well use the console and just set your Attributes to whatever you want. Far be it from me to agree with Luckmann on anything! But rerolling ad nauseum dosn't really excite me. Each to their own I suppose, but here's the thing. People create the most perfect min/maxed character and abuse the hell out of the system and then complain that the game is too easy... Is rerolling not part of that process?
  14. There's already plenty of morally ambiguous companions and not everyone's motivations are complicated. At least one simple minded people companion with no moral ambiguity would be refreshing. It's not like you have to use her. If Obsidian is just gonna make all the new companions basically the same as the old ones; why even bother adding them? It's not so much complicated motivations - it's more the way previous games have forced the evil alignments into behaving in an incredibly stupid manner. An example is NW2, right at the beggining where your village is being attached and yet - as an evil person you are supposed to kill someone who potentially can help defend the village - just because you're evil. So it's more being evil for evil's sake I have an issue with. Ah, now I get it, and that's perfectly reasonable. Nothing wrong with her having motivations for her evil deeds as long as she or the game doesn't try to make it seem justified. I'm guess is that she has to kill people and drain energy from their soul to use as fuel for her body or something like that though. That would actually be very cool, hopefully it would be someting like that!
  15. Well, it all depends on how they play the soul angle? She could end up like Shale for instance - though presumably more evil. I'm hoping that there is no moral absolutism. I hate it, it tends to be be way too simplistic to subscribe to human motivations . So hopefully she isn't "alignment stupid" as in lawful/chaotic evil. 16. BTW is there any news regarding the release date? I'd like to start a new playthrough soon with the expansion. So far all I've heard is "soon" which is a tad on the vague side...

  18. Yeah, look that may very well be the case - though the issue is not about whether people like a game/movie/story or not. It's about ethics and morals. People may like a review or hate it - and they have every right to do so. They can have a go at it to their hearts content, but you can't sabotage other people work. And yes, unfortunately "Gamersgate" people are at the forefront of the "I have no idea about this ethics thing". It goes hand in hand with privelege and the "my opinion is far more important than yours and if you don't listen I'm going to sulk!" crowd.
  19. Good to see ethics in journalism in action. This is exactly the bull**** "Gamersgate" stand for and probagate. To be honest I havn't followed this whole thread in it's entirety, but there are a couple of points which should really apply to these issues. Firstly, if some one sends you an article/story which is a WIP, it is always strictly confidential unless you get something in writing to the contrary from the author. Which means you may not publish it or show it to anyone else. If the work is finished and ready to be published you still may not publish it yourself unless you have permission. Failure to do this shows the people responsible have no ethics or morals whatsover. It's actually not complicated.
  20. Hi guys, thanks for the patch. Not sure if anyone has reported this but the latest patch seems to have broken chanters. Kana stops chanting for no apparent reason. I think it is related to the new cool down effect on modals. Simply put I cannot get him to chant at all, if I'm lucky he will do it once then the modal goes into cool down mode and switches off. I then have to switch it back on only to repeat the cycle again. It's kinda a biggie for the class, because chanters who don't chant are, well not really chanters.
  21. Congratulations Izzie, you have graduated with flying colors, you are no longer a troll but rather a huge, slightly demented ogre.
  22. Phew, I tried all the status effects on the dragon, the only one which worked consistently where the traps...
