  1. Actually, Jim tried taking the blame upon himself and sent a credible threat to the mod team that caused me to curse his name and tear apart my system and rebuild it to counter the 'threat' he posed. His trying to cover your ass actually caused me to even more secure my rig. Not sure I'm going to thank him for it though  . You actually believed him? Hee hee Not so much. After scaning my HD with the three AV that I had installed in my system, I found the threat to be reasonably minimal. However, the threat alone caused me to rethink my existing system and reconfigure it from 3 firewalls/AV using WinXX to 6 firewalls using various mixed OS. More hardware and additional learning on my part to further 'harden' my system. Had about a two hour conversation with an admin of security of a banking security IT dude about setting up a secure rig. Required adding/reconfiguring hardware that I already had in my system to block what 'Jim' had suggested as a threat. I continue to learn and further expand my system's security and genually appreciate the experience of upgrading my system to meet the new needs, I just don't like having a gun put to my head to do so. I guess that I should be gratefull to 'Jim' for the lesson although it frosts my balls to admit that  . I have better rig because of it.
  2. Use food grade silicone in the barrel and oxy-acetylene as the propellent and you'll do well. Use schedule 120 PVC if you're going to do this!!! Coleman sells a good flint ignitor for cheap although electronic ignition is very nice. A few shots to figure the trajectory and you're set! Spuds away MoFo! Life is good when there are no rulz.

  4. If you are happy putting something in your mouth that resembles mush squirted into a used condom them enjoy! your hotdog. Those of us that have an exec chef as a wife that tells us what is actually in that condom tend to shy away from eating 'meat-by-products'. If I want pud in my mouth I'll call my dog. At least I know he licks his regularly. Still don't want it in my mouth though.
  5. Interesting point of view! I'm normally pro-death penalty but do enjoy the idea of 'court-arena' where all involved must prove their innocence before bearing witness to an event. Failure to do so and finding that a 'witness' has a vested interest in the trial allows the 'Legum' to kill the witness on the spot. That's gotta keep the witnesses on the 'straight and narrow'! Judges are not exempt either! A judge could be killed on the spot by a Legum that showed him to flying under false affilliation. How much Pay-ola is your life worth Judge? Remember...your appointment is only 'for life'. It's a shame that this can't be applied to our political system as well. ( I guess I'm still pro-death penalty...just looking forward to increasing it's numbers. Just thinning the herd of hypocrits. )
  6. Yum! For those of that don't know, 'caustic soda' is sodium hydroxide, also known as lye. This is the same stuff used to clear your drain problems and clean your ovens. Don't believe me...go to the store and check out the warnings on oven cleaners and Draino. I'll accept your apologies later. Oh and BTW, I use it to clean really F'd up air conditioners that some idiot put too close to the fryer exhaust at a restaraunt. Works good on baked on grease. Gotta be good on the poop-chute! Get that colesteral down. Back in the mid-80s, China went into a refrigerator plant and summarily executed about a dozen managers for knowingly sending out defective refrigerators. Took them out into a field behind the plant and shot them in the head. The factory made immediate improvements in their products. The American market could learn from this example of goverment regulation.
  7. Been chuckling over AT&T's TV commercial about airline wireless coverage for a bit now. Just keep forgetting to post about it. They have a TV commercial lauding their wireless coverage onboard planes. Doesn't mean it's safe though. Just that they have coverage on planes. Take it however you will.
  8. Wood is beautiful but a poor conductor of heat ( just like electricity ). Good fans are obviously needed. Keep in mind your enviroment as wood will dry and crack or warp depending on your humidity. You can use piano hinge to access your system without issues ( I do with my system ). How much amber do you need and what colour? I am an amber collector. Static from the amber would not be an issue. Amber is a 2 on the hardness scale ( 1-10 ). Do you have the ability to cut and polish it?
  9. But with parity/addressable systems this should never be an issue. I would be more prone to go along with the idea of frequency saturation than interference. A cell phone ramping up it's power looking for a good cell sight would make more sense to me than simple data interference. I also give credence to the electronic 'white-noise' created by Tasers on a plane. Agreed but this should be tempered with some sense. I deliberately smoke when filling my gas tank and working with natural gas because I understand the principles involved and most others do not. You can put your cigarette out in gasoline without any risk. Didn't know that did you . I like annoying people that rely on urban myths to do their thinking for them. Many of those that offer 'wisdom' are dumber than a box of dog-sh*t but since it meets the gratification of those seeking 'protection' and have absolutely no brains of their own, this information makes them happy and secure in theior own ignorance. ( no slam against you Wals...just commenting on the bliss of the 'unwashed masses' ). As Peoples' exhibit 'A' - I offer the stupidity of Y2K. I had dumbasses at Ronnie's Rocket Ranch ( Martin Marrietta ) demanding Y2K certifications for mercury bulb t-stats. Secure in their stupidity, they took offence to being told they were being thoughtlessly extreme in their concerns. I hope the stupid f*****rs bought generators for their homes for the non-event. I work with powerhouses and know how they work. No powerhouse engineer would allow a computer to take complete control ( frankenstein fear ) but everyone else sucked it up because bad news sells!
  10. Don't use the slugs name in vain plz. Oops! Would puss filled pocket of pestulence be a better term to describe our esteemed presidente ( 'Baby Doc' Bush )?
  11. Before I say that your friend is full of feces, I'd like to hear his ideas on this. I've worked with solid state and digital electronics and disagree with the 'premise' as stated. Digital signals are 'far!!!' different from the old analog technology and don't present the same threats to signal technology that the old crap did. My 'feel' to this is along the same line as the urban myth of cell phone causing fires at the gas pumps and causing brain cancer. Show me the proof ( or a least give me a good hypothosis ). I'm open to a good arguement. I'd like to hear the tech explaination that he offered to you. I do work with Denver International Airport as well as Centennial ( a little pissant airport ) and can probably get tower control to talk to me about this. The old analog type of wireless communication relied on frequency and signal strength ( brute strength ) to get the job done as opposed to 'finese' that the digital communications do now. That was the whole point of digital signals. What became limited by frequency bandwidth became an open market due to the availability of sub-bit encoding that digital signals offered. Hell... even air conditioners ( commercial ) using addressable communicaions these days. It used to be that someone 'keying' a radio or cell phone around me would drastically affect my metering instruments. Now, I don't even notice it in my work. Check out the trunk signals that law enforcement uses to prevent police scanners from picking up their communications. Denver uses this and you have to have a special scanner to listen in on their communications. I'm fairly sure that the budget available to United Airlines is a bit more than that of the Denver Police Dept. ( Denver has used a digital truncated system for about 15 years now. I know this because I used to listen in on them ). Besides the obvious benefits in having less morons listening in on their chatter, it also adds the the availability to bandwidth options. Multiple users on the same frequency but using different 'addresses' . Most every communication system these days use similar technology and have for many years. An airplane that has not has such an upgrade should raise a red flag to anyone considering flying on said craft as it says something about the airlines using old-ass technology when an upgrade would be fairly inexpensive. I'd like to avoid these sort of mentions since George W Bush is also 'world recognised' as a representantive of the US and we all know what a slug of crap he is. Let's stick with the arguement/theory and the discussion can stay a little less 'personal' and a bit more open to attack and less to personal insult that way. I realise that I'm just a dumb mechanic but I don't take 'anyone's' talk as anything more that bullsh*t unless that 'talk' can be backed up with a good arguement. I don't require 'proof' to back up the position, just a good working hypothosis. Besides...argueing theory can be fun as the possibilities can be endless!
  12. Watching the trans/receive indicators when I try to use the internet, the indicators don't even become active.
  13. Something I just noticed is that my modem is on port 4. Ports 1-3 are being used by something alse. I don't know what but my guess is that it is various network connections.
  14. Decided to set up one of my network computers to connect directly to the internet. The modem rings in and connects to my ISP but none of my programs can use the connection. I've turned off the two firewalls just in case they are blocking the connection but it didn't help. I reset my network connection to allow this computer to connect directly to the internet but that isn't helping either. I'm sure that I've just screwed up a setting somewhere but having tried everything I could think of, I figured I'd ask for help here. I am using WinXP Pro SP1. Any suggestions? PS...I know that the modem connection is working because while I was fiddling around with the computer, 3 Mb of 'something' downloaded itself to my system. Possibly Windows updates but I'm not sure and the firewalls were in place during that download.

I hope it was painfull and lingering. Not long enuf I'm afraid for someone like this. Maggots like this harken back to the days of the 'robber barons' of the days of old. In the words of the emminent Volo...Fry em! Extra crispy! And a coat-hanger for any of his vermin offspring that might be harbouring any of his views toward this same treatment of humanity.

Just some much needed evidence that God does truly exist and that he occassionally has a sense of justice. One more maggot that puts the financial health of his pocketbook far over and above that of those that he employs. F*** him! I hope he suffered a while before he died. He skipped on a wrongfull death and he screwed his employees out of their livelihood. I hope there was fire involved in his death. I also hope there is more to come in his afterlife. Maybe a little flaying as well just to make it interesting. I'll even donate a sharp knife to God to make it happen.
  18. 'Somewhere' being the operative word here.
  19. How do I get to that screen? And yet the question still remains... I'll add the FX5500 to her system and see how it goes though.
  20. Then this might be interesting for my system as my monitor refreshes at @ 18 milliseconds. My FPS is about 60 with an Athlon 64 4800+ and the same with an FX-60 ( hyperspace ). Also, my wife's system is a Sempron 3000+ ( I think ( 1.6 Gb )) with an ATI Radeon 9250 video card. 1 Gb of RAM. I bought the materials on two separate trips and put it together before I realized that the 754 socket was obsolete. I can locate an Athlon 64 3700+ ( motherboard's maximum ) but it's kinda pricey so I'd like to know before I spend the money if it's actually the problem. She mostly plays casino games with her system but when she saw the screensaver running on my rig and not on hers, she immediately saw a difference in systems. I have a spare Geforce FX5500 ( 256 Mb ) video card if that is the issue.
  21. How do I get to that screen? This may be why I cannot get it to run on my wife's computer.
  22. Since this board software will not allow me to attach the actual screensaver, please go to http://reallyslick.com/ for the package. Be warned however!!! the screensaver package ( at 11 Mb ) is a tremendous resource hog to lesser systems. 'Hyperspace' is well worth it though if your system can run it. It is the most kick-ass! screensaver that I've seen. It also will not work on any other rig I've put it on other than mine. What I'm getting at is what system resource is it loading that causes it not to run on anything less than mine ( Post your system specs page #2 )? I've loaded it on Intel 2.7 Gh and not had it run properly. I've loaded it on AMD Semprons 1.8 w/ 1 Gb ram and a decent video card and not had it word. Actually, I've not been able to load it on any system other than my own and had it work. What does it require?
  23. Since my wording could be poor, I thought I'd add a link from those that actually have a clue... http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/bios/sizeGB128-c.html This could apply to what you are experiencing.
  24. If I remember correctly Lady, you have an older motherboard. Depending on it's age, it's BIOS will not recognize the larger drives but once WinXP kicks in, any secondary drive will be recognized and controlled by XP. Your primary drive is controlled however by your motherboard's BIOS. If that is the case, you can possibly 'flash' the BIOS of your board to something more modern if possible but that probably isn't worth the risk as a failed flash will permanently destroy your motherboard. Safer to upgrade when convenient. My old P3 wouldn't recognize anything past 137 Gb but would easily accept a 320 as a secondary drive. My newer computer will accept a 300 Gb ( at least ) as primary.
  25. Far better this than to have your head in the sand and your ass in the air to provide love and enetrtainment to some IQ challenged coprophile sucking up pay that he hasn't earned.
