The scary part is that they played that game without 3 DTs who are certain to see regular season action (Canty, Robbins, and Bernard). The two starting CBs also sat it out. You can never have too many pass rushers... EDIT: Here is the last play of the game, for people who missed it. From what I've heard, the altercation began because Henson was insisting that Cable "roll on Shabbos."

Don't forget the 2D isometric set design and striking in-game consequences for your choice to use a tri-tone substitution and play the B dimished scale over that G7! For myself, I have only played Guitar Hero (I think it was #3) for about a half-hour.

Has Obsids/Sega ever said anything more specific than "October"? I don't recall any official confirmation of a target release date from any source more authoritative than a retailer.

See, my problem with most shooters it that, when a game pulls starts getting the same reactions out of me that a well executed horror film does (e.g., the quick adrenaline-inducing surprise and the OMG-they're-all-around-me-run-hide-die-die-die), I am not amused. I am instead irritated and resentful at the game for putting me through that. It's very much the same (although on the opposite emotional spectrum) as my resentful feeling towards effective tearjerker films. A game/film/whatever has to be really really good in other areas to earn the right to put me through the emotional wringer without me hating it. So, knowing that, are the HL games worth my time? (Cost is secondary to time in my case.)

Heh, looks like I made myself a dangerous enemy, which by the way, I'm ready :) It was a reference that I didn't expect you to get. R.E.M. -- Turn You Inside-Out.

That was not the Springsteen cover I was hoping for. Um, no it wasn't, it's Doom Metal, Springsteen doesn't play Doom Metal. Get your carpetbaggers off my back. The Hold Steady -- Joke About Jamaica

I have not played them. I usually get bored with shooters pretty quickly, but I'm beginning to suspect that I should probably play a little bit of the half-life stuff if only for general cultural literacy. (The same urge made me try Deus Ex about a year ago, and the parts of it I got through were mostly worthwhile.) Give me the sales pitch. As an aside, both Portal and Deus Ex gave me some motion sickness (the former much moreso than the latter-- I couldn't play it for more than an hour or so in one sitting without feeling ill).

Maybe this isn't an issue in Philly, but is he worth the PR hit if he is just going to ride the pine? They'll run some special formations and packages to get him on the field-- "Wildcat"-type stuff, which they did a little of last season with DeSean Jackson at QB. If they can get a few big plays out of putting him in for 5-10 snaps per game, it'll be worth the investment to them.

But that assumes that your average straight, male police officer will let you flirt your way out of a DUI. Speeding or a other minor traffic violations, I could see, but I'm pretty sure that after a cop has seen someone smeared across the road, they're not going to be persuaded by big **** and eyelash fluttering. My suggestion: Drinking heavily is more socially acceptable for women than it has been previously. My point was simply that-- 30 years ago, DUI wasn't considered to be nearly as serious an offense as it is today. Publicity and advocacy campaigns by groups like MADD (founded in 1980) have been quite successful.

And Michael Vick goes to... the Philadelphia Eagles! Sometimes it's nice to be a Giants fan-- the division rivals just keep supplying us with loads of reasons to hate them! Tank Johnson... Dan Snyder... Terrell Owens (twice!)... the Jones Pacman and Jerry... and now Mike Vick. Hopefully this works out as well as the rest of these names have so that we can add some schadenfreude to the experience!

I wholly fail to comprehend the state of mind that would produce a statement like this without ironic intent.

metagaming? Making in-game decisions based on goals that you have as a player rather than the goals that your in-game character would realistically have.

Mildly Misogynistic Theory: Alcohol use and poor judgment know no gender bias. However, the seriousness with which society in general and police in particular take this crime has increased dramatically in the last 30 years, and police officers have become more likely to be female or non-traditional male. Thus, the success rate for females attempting to flirt their way out of DUI citations has fallen.

New Kotaku preview just went up
Enoch replied to kreese12's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Compared to the recent Nowgamer, Digitalspy, and Eurogamer previews, that one was pretty lousy. I don't know if the Kotaku reporter got the same kind of demo the above publications got, but if they did, they weren't taking particularly good notes. -
If I recall correctly, schools used to average the scores for people with multiple LSAT results, but I think the standard has shifted in the last few years to taking the higher one.

I'm guessing that the patch being hosted primarily by the publisher (Atari) would preclude this particular approach. They're not going to want to be hosting an ad for a Sega game on their servers.

Whenever I try to replay one of the BG games (my last serious run was about 5 years ago), I am reminded of how much my tolerance for grindy combat has declined over the years. I can't imagine putting the time in to get through the portions of BG1 that precede your arrival at the title city. Edit: I'm still playing Bloodlines, although I haven't booted it up in a couple of days. My Tremere is currently exporing the Hollywood hub, acquiring sidequests and such.

I have played only 6 of the 25 (Deus Ex, Fallout, BG2, Civ IV, Rome:TW, and SimCity). I've never been much of a fan of shooters or RTS games.

About to go sweat my ass off at the utterly meaningless Nats-D'Backs game. (The Diamondbacks apparently brought the Arizona heat with them. The DC humidity, though, remains.) At least they have Ben's Chili Bowl in the stadium. Mmmm... Chili Half-Smokes...

And most of the "thinking" that you had to do in the old days was "how can I abuse the arbitrary game mechanics to defeat the enemy in a wholly unrealistic fashion?" I'm playing Bloodlines, for the first time. Just about to go to the . After everyone here seemed to recommend playing Malkavian, I tried starting one out, but felt entirely lost right off the bat. When I started again as a Tremere (chosen based on the relative interesting-ness of the abilities and the avatar not looking like a complete ****wad), I realized that I must have somehow picked a dialogue response with Jack that led to me skipping the whole introduction sequence. Thing have gone much smoother since I got through that. I think I've been a bit too schizophrenic in my character build thus far, though. For example, I've weighted diplomacy and stealth relatively evenly, which is probably a bit redundant from what I've seen of the quest design. I'll have to focus on specializing more as the game goes on (I'm leaning towards the diplomatic side). Anyhow, it's interesting enough so far. The gameplay isn't as awful or bug-ridden as the other Troika games I've played. The animations are a little wonky (I cringe when I see my character run in 3rd person mode), but the VO is mostly good. The ability balance seems a tiny bit out-of-whack, but nowhere near the complete brokenness of Arcanum. And I love the quest-only XP mechanic. As for the story, the factions seem reasonably well conceived. I'm assuming that at some point towards the end of the story, I'm going to have to decide some kind of faction allegiance. So far the story seems to be bending over backwards to Also, I think having a few Bloodlines-related searches in my cookies file has resulted in Amazon sending me an email to recommend a Stephanie Meyer novel. That's a mark against it right there.

I was going by the description in the manual, which made them seem more 'high-culture' than all that.
-
I skimmed over the manual, and it did seem like that invisibility ability they get would be near-game-breakingly powerful... Besides that, the 'socialite-ish' clan and the 'establishment' clan also interested me as the most 'traditional-Dracula' kind of bloodsuckers.
