The clip I saw had "cops" rocking stuff that wouldn't be out of place in a Helmand FOB. Riot gear is one thing, given the size of the crowd. MRAPs and automatic weapons? I mean this isn't even about optics. Those just aren't the right tools for the job.

That's fine, but here, even "average Republicans" are afforded a modicum of respect. So let's try to steer clear of blanket invectives.

Wot I bought last - a fool and their money mystary edition

Yeah, it has been that way with DLC for Bioware's games since even before Origin was a thing. At least now you can purchase them, overpriced* as they may be, for an actual dollar amount. Back when they used "Bioware points", you had to buy bundles which were sized such that you'd always be either short by a bit, or have points in excess for whatever DLC you were interested in. Evidently, there were no refunds for points bundles, either. That was shady as hell. I wonder to what extent the price is dictated or influenced by Bioware and their previous pricing scheme. *Currently the complete DLC bundle goes for ~10€, which seems reasonable. However that seems to be 66% off, meaning the regular price is about 30€ -- absurd. I don't know if it's a sale or something, or it's a result of the Origin Access sub (which I got free from some promo...). -
Don't you live alone in the ass-end of nowhere? It's easier to get along with people when you rarely have to deal with people. However, I have to struggle to keep my inner beheader in check when my neighbors decide to start tearing down walls in the weekend. Or when some **** cuts in line just because he thinks he can, and reacts badly when I have the audacity to object. Pond scum figures he can reuse workout clothes for an entire week, and never puts back whatever equipment he's used after he's done. Smoking in enclosed spaces where it's strictly forbidden just because there's no one around at that precise moment. Driving like Batman because traffic regulations are for chumps. You know, the works. Maybe it's because I'm getting old and cranky and pay more attention to these things but there seems to be an increasing erosion of common courtesy, civility and manners. And I'm pretty sure that the government has zero to do with any of it. They may circumstantially take advantage, and sustained, large scale violence is difficult without state‑level organization. But people not getting along is just a result of people being people, no need to appoint anyone to office.

Going through the campaign in Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 with a friend. I've been waiting for a tactical spaceship game with co-op since Starfleet Command 2. I'm finding a disturbing lack of over-the-top voice acting for a 40k product, so far. Gameplay wise it's entertaining enough, but I'm still learning the ropes. -
So I tried reinstalling this game, see if the patches have done something to fix some of the problems it had. Just a few hours in, and I'm already sick of it. Reinforcements keep dropping literally in my face, and they get to act in that turn too. So much for DropShips being valuable and rare pieces of hardware that wouldn't risk being shot at. And that's only half the times, the other half enemies just... appear, out of thin air. I guess the designer dgaf about anything except muh challenge. And even that is pitiful because you can still spam laser vomit at center torso with max JJ for evasion and win against anything. The effects of bad AI and poorly balanced skills are apparently only made worse by the obligatory power creep from the actual expacs. So to give players something to do, missions are frequently 45-minute 12v4 slogs. Googled a bit, seems people believe that this is the epitome of "tactics". Can't tell what's worse, the bad design or a community that excuses any shortcomings while condescendingly waxing clausewitzian. Uninstalled, probably for the last time.

If no one has replied, odds are that nobody has found a workaround for this issue, yet. You may have better luck sending an email to support@privatedivision.com or going through the publisher's support website. Have you tried this? -
I find it rather perplexing that in a culture where the armed services are held in such high esteem, and where even rear echelon service is widely seen as prestigious, the possibility of a draft can cause a "scare". One would think people would be honored to be asked to die for their country, no? Heh.

Why? You've waited ten years. You can wait one more, which comes with the added bonuses of patches and a mature modding community.

As far as I know, you will be launching the game from/through Origin whether you buy it on Steam or directly from EA. Same as with Ubi games. And yeah. It's EA. But it's one of the very, very few good single player games without bull**** monetization schemes they have released in a while, so I'd give it a pass. -
Likely not feasible with current tech. Raytheon built a laser to shoot down drones that was to be mounted on a lightweight buggy, but the demo they released was less than impressive: it took a few seconds of sustained "fire" on a stationary drone to take it out, from closer than a Reaper's typical striking distance. I'd guess if anyone suddenly felt their forehead burning, they wouldn't just stand still and smile. So hellfires will be around for a bit longer -- even the flying ginsu is more useful than laser-armed drones at this point.

Making misery pay: Libya militias take EU funds for migrants Ah well.

It will, though. In ~5bn years, when its orbit is inside the Sun's radius after it goes red giant. One could make an argument that by preventing societal collapse, among other things by mitigating climate change, we are working towards becoming a Kardashev-II civilization that will be in a position to prevent Earth from taking a hot plasma bath...

Works for me. I didn't know or remember that Basil Poledouris had composed the score, so that's a plus too.

Ah, the simple joys of loincloths, chainmail bikinis and fixing society's problems by putting mother****ers in the Wheel of Pain.

Epic Store launcher has an offline mode that is similar in function to Steam's. Beyond that, however, I'm afraid I won't be much help -- I use neither Epic launcher nor the Windows Store. I remember reading that even in offline mode, it's not 100% completely offline, as people reported that they couldn't run their games when the Epic Games Store servers were down. In this sense the Epic launcher is the DRM, but it doesn't add any other copy-protection systems on top of it. The Epic launcher does not take control of folders away from the user at least, which permits modding. For the time being, there is no 100% DRM-free release of this game.

Yeah, I was pretty upset with it too at first. I will echo what Zoraptor said: each encounter is best approached as a puzzle. Discovering the strategy that renders the encounter trivial is finding the solution to the puzzle. And "trivial" in this context is not your typical internet L2P smack talk. It breaks the game if you know what's ahead and how to optimize le fromage, as you can see from what a honor mode, no-item, no-damage challenge looks like. It's a game that I've appreciated better with time -- each battle has a hand-crafted feel to it, and there's very little of the boring, repetitive filler combat that's so ubiquitous in most CRPGs. But I hated it at first, because a lot of what they do to accomplish that feels really cheap. It's a bit of an acquired taste.

As far as I know, that's the way the UWP works. Its behavior doesn't discriminate between a Game Pass app and a purchased "licensed" one. Windows Store DRM is... overzealous, to put it mildly. Modding is basically a no-go in that platform due to it. As far as the "phone home" component of it is concerned, you can designate one (and only one) device as your offline device through the Windows Store App settings. That should stop the game from syncing with cloud saves and all that, but seeing how difficult it is to stop all unwanted network behavior from W10, that may actually not be the case. Have you tried this?

Having stiff and plastic-looking newscasters sure helps with the Fake News feel, sure. I know there's (probably) no one pointing a gun at her off-camera, but damn. Jesse's intro thing was just pure cringe.

Neither is Al-Jazeera, even though they score similarly to ABC in both reliability and bias. I guess you can only cram so many logos in the cusp of god-tier centrism.

Lol @ Grauniad "complex" analysis.

Pity. I was looking forward to this. Maybe after a year of patches and DLC...
