  1. Well I'd call it a really long, continous and TEDIOUS fight... I've got nothing against showing off how badass my character has become but that part bored me to tears since the waves simply wouldn't bloody stop! Call me crazy but I'd rather face off against a smaller but more experienced wave of attackers rather than that Sith kindergarten dropouts that you were forced to fight..........
  2. Maybe she'll be one of the few surviving Jedis leading an underground movement of Jedis. Another possibility is that she followed Revan (if lightside, mind you ) on his expedition or whatever he went on... BTW are really ALL the Jedis dead or is it only the Jedi order itself that is shattered? I'm not sure of how it stands right now since everything I've read about this part far is pretty inconclusive..
  3. Tell me about it. Anyway, I think that jedi should be scarce in this game, since Malak took out most of the jedi at dantooine, we think, and hunted down as many as he could in the civil war, there aren't going to be many sitting around, I would very much like to be able to find only one or two, instead of three, three was too many in my opinion. TripleRRR Wasn't the Jedi on Dantooine just a small enclave and not the whole Jedi collective?
  4. The thing with AD&D is that it has settings that are WAY more interesting than Grayhawk and Forgotten Realms but publishers won't go for that since it isn't familiar territory for them, wich equals bad sales in their minds. They may be right but I'd love to see the Scarred Lands(don't remember if this really is DnD) ,Dark Sun and Planescape but since they are no longer officially supported by WOtC the chaces are pretty slim. The only setting that might have a realistic chance of being translated into a CRPG is Eberron but I guess that it depends on what degree of success it gets among the PnP crowd... <Rant Off>
  5. Hmm, are those classes really alike? Jedi Sentinel: "This Jedi ferrets out deceit and injustice, bringing it to light". Sounds like the exact opposite of an assassin. As for Sith Lord & Marauder -- they do seem like evil versions of Consular and Guardian, but I imagine their feats, powers and stats will be totally different from regular Jedi. It's impossible to know for sure until we have more info. Why is it such a great leap of thinking that an evil "spy" (as you could call the Sentinel) is an assasin?
  6. The new classes looks like they are just "evil" versions of the old classes: Sith Lord= Jedi Consular Sith Marauder= Jedi Guardian Sith Assassin= Jedi Sentinel Do anyone have any rulebook description regarding these classes?
  7. The real Sith has been dead for a long time in KOTOR:s timeframe....
  8. No there isn't, look at the Leisure Suit Larry games
  9. Don't ask me, you wanted to know what the purge was, so I told you The only thing I can think of is that during KOTOR:s timeline Jedi were far more common and more active in the galactic politics so it kind of figures that certain "elements" wanted to be somewhat prepared for intruding Jedi. Not that it helped those fools that were dumb enough to get in way of my lightning......
  10. ^ The "purge" is the Jedi genocide that the emperor starts in Episode 3.....
  11. I've never really understood the fascination of the search for the fabled "pacifist build" for FO and other RPG:s. Would it really add that much to the gameplay value? I'm all for a challenging game and different playing experiences but I just feel that the amount of zots spend on making a completely nonviolent path in a game could be spent on coming up with a more advanced combat engine that allows for different combat strategies such as allowing non-lethal takedowns and allowing true usage of cover. This doesn't mean that I'm against the opportunity to speak/lie/convince your way out of trouble but there are situations that one simply should not be able to speak yourself out of.....
  12. Well, to be totally honest does it count if the Master himself sets the A-bomb off? It's not like you are able to stop him or plan to nuke the cathedral in the first place....
  13. In my opinion BIO should have given the the hairy carpet Zaalbar some more lovin' since I feel that apart from Kashyykk and if you fall to the dark side, Big Z didn't get too much to say when you talk to him. Even after saving his tribe and returned his honor he wouldn't say to much, a bit of a shame really since I'm a bit partial to wookies.
  14. Not only is it very cool that the player's choices are represented in the game world in such a manner, but how cool is it that, simply because the game's merchant prices are not static, there emerges a simplistic trading game? Whether or not it's actually a worthwhile endeavor will depend upon the importance of money (I don't know if I've ever played an RPG where money didn't, at some point, become all but obselete), but this is a fine example of how cleverly implemented mechanics (shifting values on goods and the player's ability to buy and sell) can result in some interesting world dynamics (player can buy low and sell high for profit) which ultimately means a richer experience for the player (greater player choice and exploration). When reading about what Peter Molyneux promises in his games, I always takes his promises with a BIG pinch of salt since his project usually starts out with grand promises of revolutionary cool gimmicks and gameplay that usually ends up getting cut out of the final version game or somewhat badly implemented. The man has inspiration, I give him that, too bad that he never learned to implement that inspiration to a larger degree than he usually ends up with....
  15. During my first two passes through FFVII I never got to date Aeris but instead I met up with Tifa. Thing is that it is not that hard to get another date than Aeris, you just have to be nice to Tifa and choose the knight instead of the wizard during the "theatre"... Wow, now THAT made a lot of sense, huh?
  16. How could you NOT enjoy Chocobo Racing ? I loved the chocobo racing as well but it also suffered from the bad controls. I don't mind the minigames but the controls are usually so stiff and unresponsive that it adds another challenge of fighting the controls, that kind of challenge shouldn't even be there to begin with.
  17. Is that the one where you need to get below a time of 0.00 to get the sun emblem ? Or the one where you race the Chocobo for the cloudy mirror and get a better prize based on which chest you open ? I never could finish the first one. On the other hand the butterfly one was relatively easy.. I meant the sunemblem one, I did manage to get it after numerous failings and curses eich almost made to give up the minigames completly. I understand that the sunemblem is very valuable part to make a powerful weapon but there is an ocean of difference between challenging and downright frustration....
  18. I'm used to them though when they were in the planning stages I asked them time after time not to add them. The mini games were so easy they need not have bothered with them. And the rewards were useless too. If you look at any of the Squenix mini games, the reward (even if its long term) is well worth the effort. And the games are at least moderately engaging which is more than you can say about the KOTOR ones. So I doubt they made anyone happy with the mini games. For the RPG purists they were an aspect of the game that bore no relation to the character. And to people who are actually used to mini games they were an insult to our mini gaming skills. I don't mind minigames in RPG:s but Square usually goes for the pisspoor control version of minigames just to increase the time it takes to complete them... A good example of this is in FFX when you have to ride a chocobo through an assault course, the controls are abysmal and the way the obstacles are thrown in your face is completely unfair wich in turn simply adds to the frustration... A minigame should be fun and profitable something that Square often has glossed over.....
  19. Thats the best way of doing of it. You cant make someone feel something. It's impossible. But you can make expect them to miss someone they have spent the last 10 hours playing through. In my case I used Tiffa and Barret. I took Tiffa on the date and Aeris was rarely in my party. So when Aeris was killed outside of the usual lets get some payback there wasnt really any feeling of loss. On the other hand if it had happened to Tiffa , someone who had been an important part of my game upto that point I would have felt it on a much more personal level. So while killing off a party character can be a powerful thing. It only reaches its full impact when its been a character that someone has either connected with or has been using in the party for a time. In my opinion Aeris got killed to early, sure it gives you the feeling that now it's personal to whack Sepiroth but I can't help to feel that Square could have extended her "life expectancy" since I think it would have made quite a powerful scene having Aeris present when Cloud confronts Sepiroth and it's revealed to him that he is but a manufactured clone...
  20. agreed. What REALLY pissed me of is that I had trained her into my best mage who packed a really mean whallop, and what happens? She gets killed and beside the emotional impact, I also feel how several hours of leveling Aeris up and getting her final break flies away in front of my eyes....
  21. Are there any online sources that show the different SW characters attributes and skills?
  22. I think it was the intent of the game designers that you end the game with the 3 Jedi party. This "Jedi focus" is straight from the movies, if you think about it. Almost all the main characters in the second trilogy are Jedi, and the ones that aren't don't usually contribute much in the fights. The original trilogy was jedi focused as well. That's the nature of the Star Wars universe, a universe that can only really be defined by the movies. Other media, even if "official", will never be incorporated because the vast majority of Star Wars fans know only the movies. In that case shouldn't some blaster users be absolutly lethal to Jedi since Jango Fett pretty much owns every jedi in the movie until the dumbass loses his jetpack <_< . The point I'm making is that blaster users should have some dirty tricks up their sleeve to surprise/overwhelm a Jedi to even out the battlefield.
  23. The force Adept class seems pretty interesting as you get force powers although without that tiresome Jedi philosophy and with some loss in force ability. It could make for an interesting story as the Sith and the Jedi might take notice of you try to "draft" you into their fold (the choice to spit in both groups collective eyes and going your own way would be a great possibility )
