Ok, I'm pretty far into the game, and I'm quite blown away by it. It really comes down to the choice and consequence. Obsidian is simply a master at giving me multiple choices that all seem somewhat decent. This is a far cry from the Bioware model, which is basically be good/be a jerk. I enjoy Bioware's games because I get to be a save the world hero, but Obsidian is going much deeper with choice and consequence. They did the same thing with Alpha Protocol. If you haven't listened to the Zero Punctuation Review of AP, he basically says Obsidian is showing off with the sheer amount of consequences to every one of your actions. They continue this on an even larger scale with FO:NV. So basically I'm saying it is one of the greatest games I have ever played. Now I am not the type who cares about gameplay or glitches or inventory management or whatever. I care about story, character development, choice, and consequences. FO:NV possesses those in spades. If you are on the fence because of concerns over bugs, get off it. Bugs are short term, they will get fixed, and the game is worth working around them a bit. Knock on wood, I've actually had zero issues with the game. It is brilliant.

It's like someone broke into my private mental journal, and read all my thoughts on Call of Duty, and then refuted them. Amazing!

It probably also has a lot to do with the fact that Turbine has seen a huge revenue jump since they switched DDO and LotRO to free to play. Although I think it's a bit misleading to call LotRO free to play, since it is much cheaper to run a subscription if you plan on doing all the high level stuff.

Consoles and games aren't like they used to be. This generation of consoles is basically a computer, fraught with plenty of hardware issues, and console games are infinitely more complex than they were in the 8-bit days.

I had similar issues with Fable 2 on the 360. edit: I hate to say it, but I have a little less sympathy for you since you rented it. You are really only out a few bucks, and since you got 26 hours of entertainment, I'd say you came out pretty well.

Who handles the lion's share of the bug testing anyways, the publisher or developer? I'm a bit shocked about the 360 problems, that's hard to overlook. Of course, I had Fable 2 crap out on me on the 360 back in the day.

Every review I read seems to be all about the bugs. I don't remember that being much of a focus when the original came out, and yet the bugs seem to be a carry over problem. Is it really that buggy? It's ben fine for me, I had one graphical glitch early on but it was easy to work around.

I don't think hardcore was really designed to be more difficult, it is just more of a realism mechanic. I'm enjoying it so far. Traps definitely suck more when you have to go to a doctor, and worrying about the radiation level of food is neat.
