Can I Kill Children and Visit/Run a Brothel?
Child of Flame replied to Taoreich's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No wonder Sith troops are so tense and irritable. "Me love you long time!" LMAO, no kidding. -
Yaaaaaaay! Kal's here too. Now we just need Eddie or whatever the hell he now goes by, Grunt, Lu, Terri, and optionally Ender. <_< Harshness people harshness, and Alexia....the AV might have offended some people even if you didn't intend it to. Meh. JT

KOTOR 2 and Jade Empire
Child of Flame replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
WRONG!!! If you were following it from the beginning, before Billy boy bought out Bungie, Halo was being developed primarily for PC; NOT for Xbox. However good ole Billy stepped in, paid Bungie a hefty sum of money to delay it's release to PC and make it a temorary Billy Gates Box exclusive....Hence all the confusion as to it's true origins. Good ole Billy being the monopolizing entrepeneur he is, foresaw that his hold on the PC industry is slipping, and decided to muscle his way into the console industry before his company became yesterday's news. -
will i be able to kill indiscriminately?
Child of Flame replied to poolofpoo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You're missing the point. The engine problem isn't that the KotOR non-hostile NPCs are plot-flagged (though I presume they are, or they could be killed by grenades). The problem is that there's no way to target a non-hostile creature, so there's no way to start a battle with them. That's why you need new interface functionality. You could add a dialog that turns the NPC hostile. But you'd have to add that for all the NPCs, even those who only have one-liners currently - unless they turn the whole planet hostile the moment you kill any innocent NPC. A lot of work for something fairly worthless. I didn't see how the Morrowind method added anything to gameplay. OK, I can kill anybody. Then I get to reload. Whee. Arcanum's system is better, but I still don't see that as being a really useful feature. Then again, I don't play psychopaths, so plotlines I'm never going to see are worthless from my standpoint. YMMV. Isn't that exactly what would happen though, if you just attacked an innocent out of the blue on Taris? Or at least everyone in the area...probably not the entire planet...but the entire courtyard at least. -
Can I Kill Children and Visit/Run a Brothel?

Man that would be f***ing awesome. Sounds a bit like GTA! -
It will still be the Last Man Standing system a la KotOR1. If you'll entertain a suggestion for a moment, I felt there was room for improvement with this particular game mechanic... First of all, it does tend to jar you out of the game a bit when your party-members quietly sit a battle out and then get up, without fail, the moment the last enemy bites the dust 20 feet away. It would feel more immersive if those party members needed help to get back up. This help could take the form of using a medkit on them or simply giving them a leg up off the ground, however, it would have to take a couple moments to do this so it wouldn't be too exploitable in combat. It would also introduce a new strategy element to longer battles such as the ones on the Star Forge in KOTOR. If your buddy goes down, do you try to fight it out without him/her, or do you position your party so that one person is free long enough to get him back on his/her feet? This sort of system would also neatly sidestep one of the bugs in KOTOR. I remember in one level (Possibly the Sith Acadamy) a member of my party went down and stayed down without an enemy in sight. I had to hunt through all the nearby passages for the little sucker that got away so I could get mobile again. I couldn't zone with him layed flat out in the middle of the level. I'm not sure how common this particular bug was, but it jarred me right out of the game and was one of the few times I can recall thinking of Bioware as a bunch of idiots. (Which they most certainly aren't!) With the above change in effect you could get your party member back on his feet without a problem. Of course, implementing this would make a few other changes necessary. What happens if you forget where your party member wentl down or simply don't help him/her up? A good solution would be to set a time-limit on how long a character stays down without help. When they get back up they'd catch up on their own and, possibly, give you heck for not helping them up. (Just a verbal whine and maybe a rude gesture for some characters. There's no need to cut to the dialog interface.) If you attempt to zone with a party member down somewhere, the game should let you zone and have the party member come out with you, although, preferably giving you heck as if he/she just caught up after getting up on his/her own. As for the animations required, physically helping the other character up would involve contact between models which I'm sure your animators would flat out refuse to do. However, just having a character kneel next to the fallen fellow and perhaps wave a hand around a bit in a authoritative medical looking fashion would serve almost as well and be relatively simple to implement. I love your train of thought there. The knock out/help out system sounds similar to that found in Dungeon Siege, though the characters didn't yell at you for not helping them up as there is next to no voice acting in that game, which could be really cool if it's done right. HK-47: Statement: You may be master, but in the combat skirmish just now, you acted just like any meatbag. I am losing patience with you.

ROFL It's a picture of her.

I don't think anyone will put up an argument that the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City added tremendously to the atmosphere of that game. Same thing with No One Lives Forever 2, the way it became more fast paced and frenzied when you had been sighted and your enemies were actively searching for you, and softer and more in the background when you were going about your business unbeknownst to them.

Good times, good times. Well, it stands to reason that many of the regulars from the Bio Boards are here in one form or another.

Returning charaters

My first pick would be HK-47 as I loved him. ("Permission to dispatch the organic meatbag master.") But since it's quasi sure that he's going to be in it already, I voted for Mission. I kinda liked her. -

Or the original KotOR. Stupid sand people, I wanted my me'r f'n krayt pearl. -
Aww, don't do that. Karzie cracks me up. Instead of creating a diversion with a above suggested guard scenario, why not just use Force Wave to throw him against a wall so that he blacks out. That would be more a a neutral option really. You didn't kill him, but you didn't go to the trouble of creating a diversion and keeping him from all harm. Force choke does need to be implemented more in coversation though. The selkath in the entrance to Ahto City: "There is a tax of x value before you can go into Ahto City" **Force Chokes** "I don't think I'll be needing to pay that do you?" **Selkath is clutching at it's throat gasping for air, shakes it's head no** Then if your were really evil, you could throw him against the wall Jedi Knight style.

Alien Races You Would Like To See In KOTOR2
Child of Flame replied to Dead Skin Mask's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The kids on Taris didn't have anything to do except that one alien taunting scene. Not worth including them. The stowaway was at least a 'quest'. I took the easy way out, booted her off the ship. shame, I'd much rather it got bloody. *nods to HK* There were also a couple of kids wandering around on Taris too though. If you walked up to them in the Sith Armor they'd be all like "My momma said you sith are bullies." or something like that. -

It would be cool to have an ancient sith or two...but seeing as how they're extinct, and no one ever really found out what they looked like except the first settlers of Korriban. -
Nah, I've seen a low res pic of her in her nightie when she was drunk. I'm just about as sure as possible that she is who she says she is as one can be when living across an ocean from someone. She is an amateur model though is why it looks suspicious. I had my doubts until I saw the nightie pic....but I don't think that one will be released to the general public.

Well then consider it my thread. I haven't started on since I joined in February.

Awww, c'mon be nice. This is my forum and IM buddy, she's a veteran of the Bio Boards, and that's her pic in her avatar to boot.

CHEAT CODES - voice your opinion
Child of Flame replied to xtrazx75's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Maybe... enjoying yourself? enjoying yourself? wheres the enjoyment? you cant beat a game cause your not smart enough, or dont have a common sence, so you enter a code to walk through walls. if i do remember, i find enjoyment in a challenge. i bet your one of those guys in JKA who says "How do you do god mode?" then someone replies "/disco" then you realize you were disconnected and return and ask him again and you fall for it again How many times do I have to repeat that cheat codes, especially hidden items such as the Massassi Battlestaff extend the replayability of a game. It is possible to enjoy the challenge of it the first couple of times through, and then the fun of doing crazy stuff with the cheat codes the next few times you play it. With all the stuff they're saying's gonna be in KotOR 2 though, I imagine I'll be able to play it through at least eight or so times before it gets old and I want to bring in the cheat codes for refreshment. Gosh! You'd think that using cheats after you'd beaten ordinarily until it got boring was a cardinal sin or something from the way you people describe it. -
Alien Races You Would Like To See In KOTOR2

Kun killed all of the in Yavin to use their life force. Its not "within reason",besides they are simply the mutated remaining of a Sith crew, they never even left Yavin 4 or have anything special about then. So you don't think there could have been Massassi troops in other parts of the galaxy carrying out raids/missions for Kun or Mandalore who were not present during the Jedi assualt of Yavin IV? Or prehaps they could have been hand picked survivors who were intrusted with ancient Sith secrets and relics that Massassi didn't want to fall into the Jedi's hands or worse destroyed. These could be both priest and warrior class Massassi told to protect the relics and the knowledge of the Sith until one like Kun returned to claim it. You say they have nothing special about them but I personally find them very interesting. They are the last of the Sith although twisted by Naga Shadows dark magic they remain the last of their kind. Think of all the secret knowledge they could possess about Sith magic or just the Sith themselves. Each to their own, but I think running into some Massassi in KOTOR 2 would be pretty freakin sweet. Cheers! They're not only the last of the original Dark Jedi (what you would call Sith), but the last of the Ancient Sith bloodline, sensitive to the force, reptilian-like. I wouldn't be surprised if the mutation was more of an interbreeding between the human and Sith bloodlines, as it describes in the EU. They both benefited from it, the humans gained extra force sensitivity, and the Sith gained knowledge of the galaxy outside their planet. They were after all highly primitive, dark force users or not. I like the idea of a hutt, as well as a darkside Whill (Yodaguy), has anyone seen the Darth Yoda Mod that was originally for Jedi Knight 2, Jedi Outcast game. It's a yoda type d00d with Sith tattoos like Maul. Need less to say, it looked pretty damn cool. -

CHEAT CODES - voice your opinion
Child of Flame replied to xtrazx75's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't that was a completely unofficial opinion. Why don't you go ask it in the Ask the Devs thread that's STICKIED AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM!!! I do however have a fair idea of what goes into programming that sort of thing, and know by the way the cheat codes for PC were designed, that they were actual names that the game recognized the items by, take a look at them for yourself, bottom of my sig. Depending on how hard it is to program the console in, it shouldn't really be that hard. Especially depending on whether or not the consoles that all modern games seem to use for cheats, that you have to do some script editing yourself to enable in many of them....seem to be a remnant of fine tuning the development. I am almost certain that there WILL BE CHEAT CODES, as certain as someone on the outside can be. And if you read my above post, I would be extremely pleased if there was an item or two like the Massassi Battlestaff in the original, that could only be accessed with cheats. An easter egg if you will...sort of. -

Child of Flame replied to xtrazx75's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Bloody fricking heck, of all the coding they're doing, adding cheats would be the simplest. All the cheats in the original were, were you typing in the game's code location/title of the various item you wanted, or just adding or subtracting your feats, allignment points, etc. Simple stuff, the hardest part of implementing that, even though it's extremely simple....would be making the in game console.....BUT, depending on how much of the original KotOR they had before they hacked it away, and made the new one, it might even already be there. And I should add that a couple of the cheats in the original were awesome, because you can't get the Massassi Battlestaff, or the Wookie Blade (not the ceremonial one, but the fat double sword alot of the wookies carried). I didn't like the wookie blade that much, but the Massassi Battlestaff is like an upgraded version of the quarterstaff on Taris, only it does damage comparable to someone Dual Wielding HotG/MotF sabers. It rocked, because IMO, I like the look of a quaterstaff better than a saber....at least in some cases. Something about a little tiny stick turning into a weapon...yet folding unlike a saber which is an energy weapon (which means it works against energy shields too), just kewl in and of itself.
